Most of what I wrote about "The Silver Swan" by Rexroth applies here; except that these poems are a little longer, more lyrical, dealing with more esoteric mystical notions; they deal at more length with time, history, our fleeting stay on earth.

Actually, I have a different edition than this one. It's not New Directions, and it's called "On Flower Wreath Hill"--one volume, rather than a collection.

Got it at Beyond Baroque on 10/11/2008 after the Hilda Weiss, Charles Bivins and Laurel Ann Bogen

Bored me.

I haven't read his earlier work, maybe its good. These poems cover nature mostly, some astronomy, a few comparisons in the vastly small and/or large, the numerous, a touch of myth, and finally no shortage of dead people he's outlived.

The Asian treatment is barely better than picture poems or minutia of an unfocused study. The rest get pictury too.
