This one was okay. It was a pretty short read and the romance was good. I was just a little frustrated at the back and forth progress in their relationship. I also thought the killer was a little obvious and I had that gut feeling that it was him.

Still, the characters were likeable and the author makes you understand both the hero and the heroine's side. Ending was sweet and satisfying.

Lilly is the daughter of the Sheriff in 1800s South Carolina. She helps her dad and studies law. People are not ready for a woman to be involved in the law or police business. Davy is a US Marshall and wants to protect Lilly. There is a serial killer on the loose in their town and she wants to use herself as bait to help catch him, Davy will not hear of it and actually locks her in the jail cell to keep her safe. Part crime story and part love story.

My exact rating is 2.5 stars because of the following issues.

It is too much of a genre romance for my taste. I found the quick fooling around unbelievable for the time period and characters.

I also found the talk of "serial killer" and profiling inappropriate for the time period. I am quite certain both are newer phenomena, at least in terminology.

But aside from that, I liked the characters, especially Lilly.

LOVED THIS STORY! You have a sexy U.S Marshall, a sheriff's beautiful daughter, and a serial killer! All you need in one!

Great story of a young woman in the late 1800s after the Civil War living in Charleston that suddenly has a serial killer focusing on her. She wants to bait him out so he can be caught, but the sexy U.S. Marshall won't have it. She is stubborn...can only guess what she does!

I loved reading this story and so would anyone who loves murder thrown in with romance!
