A. J. “Jesse” Prieo, a small town Deputy Sheriff, led a life of comfort with a loving family by his side. All that changed in an instant when genetically engineered creatures were set loose on an unsuspecting world. The creatures, terrifyingly similar to velociraptors, were cynically designed to remove humanity's surplus numbers. The situation soon spiraled out of control, ...more

First book and already this level? Hear the sound of me gnawing my desk into a pile of envy-shavings.

For fans of the straightforward three-dimensional adventures of James Herbert and Graham Masterton. Enjoy the shades of Koontz for that special aftertaste.

This is a great end-of-the-world yarn, without, you will be relieved to know, any vampires, or living-dead lurchers.Just sinister raptors who will snap your neck in half! Arrr!

Unpretentious and punchy, yet belonging to the upper shelf of craf
Like me, have you gotten tired of all the run of the mill post-apocalyptic fiction flooding the market? I mean come on, really, how many stories can be told about viral outbreaks and zombies?

If you answered yes, but still love reading about the world going to shit, then you're in for a treat. Mr. Yeager now brings us something that at first glance, seems like it should have been made into a campy 80s B-movie horror flick, like attack of the giant __fill in the blank___. In this case, he gives us

How could I not love it?
Jesse the lawman, Cory the radical, and Evelyn the believer find themselves thrust into a world where science has created a dino-chicken hybrid. Through rapid reproduction and a readily available food supply, these 'raptors' quickly stake out a dominant position in the food-chain.

Although the book may sound quite hokie, it was actually a pretty good read. I was pleasantly surprised!
Apocalyptic with a dash of Jurassic Park. It was a goodread. Fast passed and never boring. The only thing bad about it is i think it needs a second book. I am not sure if i missed it or if it's just not there. But i did not learn enough about what Cory is doing.

When I saw this book I thought Oh My THIS will be hilarious. I have never been so glad to be wrong!! This book is a dark look at a world in which we are no longer the top of the foo
Somebody decided that it would be a good idea to create a raptor..white ones. When I first started reading..I thought it was dumb and I didn't like it. I returned to finish the book and instantly liked the characters of Jesse and Cory. Through each man's perceptions of living in a destroyed world and both wanting to eradicate the monsters who took so much from them. I also think they are pretty bad-ass ;) Esp Cory with his Katana! You should see him in a fight! So after everyone finds each other ...more

Loved every horrifying moment. Can't wait to see what happens next!

This was good, I liked the different take on the apocalypse, raptors, of all things, they're mean and vicious little bastards...definitely going to have to keep reading, on to the next one.

My first thought on this book was, if it were a movie, it would be a cheezy 80's B-Movie. Nothing could be further from the truth. This was a well written, fast pace, roller coaster of mayhem and emotion. What I loved the most, was the author's instinct to move from one character to another at the perfect moment to leave you wanting more. Jesse was my favorite character and his story will tug at your heart strings. This isn't just an apocolypse story, it is a search for truth, integrity, and Chi ...more

“Forgetting everything else, the journey, the compound, escape, the dying man, the many troubles he left behind, the new troubles ahead, his mind wiped itself clean of thought, and the nerves of his body screamed out for input. He was now the predator, and they were his prey.” 2 likes
“There seemed to be no end to the imaginative damage people could do to each other when the influences of societal pressures were removed. It tended to bring out one’s true character, and as he had discovered during his thirty-eight years of life, some people had true darkness lurking just below the surface.” 1 likes
