Good book. Liam has purchased the network after the previous owner was arrested in a phone hacking scandal (No Stranger to Scandal). Francesca is giving him problems because she is advocating for her projects and not backing down. She has called him some uncomplimentary names, in Italian which he doesn't speak. There is something about her which has really gotten his attention and when they get trapped in an elevator together things get pretty heated. When his aunt, who owns a good chunk of the ...more
This book was very intriguing. You have Liam who is the new owner of the company and Francesca who wants to save her charitable program. Tempers are flaring in the boardroom then fate laughs at them by getting them both stuck in an elevator. Now sparks are flying for a whole new reason, but reality rears it's ugly head. Then Liam's aunt gives him an ultimatum to secure his ownership of the company. Now Liam must convince Francesca the perfect candidate for a fake engagement. What starts out as f ...more

Early this morning, I finished reading A Very Exclusive Engagement by Andrea Laurence. Who doesn't love a quick read with a fake engagement or a conniving aunt? I for one love enjoy a good fake engagement.

From the first moment Francesca Orr and Liam Crowe were stuck in the elevator the steam from that encounter hadn't evaporated. Boy was that a hot moment. Now Liam was give an ultimatum from his Aunt Beatrice (the Queen Bee) to be married within the year. For

A Very Exclusive Engagement isn’t the first Andrea Lawrence book I’ve read, but I think it finally made me stand up and take note.

Liam and Francesca clash at first, he’s taking over the company for which she works, and in trying to save it, might be curtailing some of her projects. She mutters something about him in Italian and it allows him to take an active interest in her. He flags her down as she walks towards the elevator, and just after the doors close a

Honestly, I'm not usually a fan of romance novels, but this I actually enjoyed.
I have wasted many a late hour glued to the pages, just hoping everything works out for Liam and Francesca, surprisingly so since I really hated Liam at first.
With what sex scenes there are, they're tactful and not stretched out like some books. Even though a lot of their drama mixes into some everyday romance issues, I found myself worrying for them, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
I cannot recommend this book

This was the first book I have read by Andrea Laurence. I really liked the Washington DC setting, and I liked that the heroine was a mature adult who knew what she wanted. Francesca and Liam are only engaged to fool his aunt, but feelings become real quickly for Francesca. Liam takes a little longer to realize his feelings.
There is always something great about reading a Harlequin romance. It is of course well edited and no grammar mistakes. Good story, believable dialog, and I really enjoyed the

Yowza! This author can write a steamy scene and she gets right to it! I read 3/4 of this book at the emergency room waiting on my mother to be treated. This was the perfect escape from a hospital waiting room. Rooting for Liam and Francesca and their crazy plan kept the pages turning swiftly. I have to admit getting a bit impatient with these two and what was right before their eyes, but that made the ending SO much more satisfying! It's not only a "good read"'s a wonderful read and I highl ...more
In A Very Exclusive Engagement by Andrea Laurence, Liam Crowe has bought the network after the previous owner was arrested for being involved in a phone hacking scandal. But Francesca Orr is giving problems because she is standing up for her projects and she will not back down. Only after being trapped in an elevator with her, things get very heated, for now she has gotten his attention and it will not go away that easily. So when Liam gets threatened by his aunt, by selling her shares of the ne ...more

I really enjoyed this book by Andrea Laurence as I am a terrible romantic at heart and I love 'Happy Ever Afters' and this lady always produces them for us. This is book is about Liam Crowe, an alpha male who has just bought into the ANS network after the old owner was arrested for phone hacking and one of his employee's Francesca Orr, a beautiful Italian/Irish woman. They clash at their first business encounter when he tries to stop one of her charity events that she is organising, due to the c ...more
This romance is so dreamy. I seriously could not put it down while reading it. I love Francesca's character. She is so down to earth, caring, compassionate. Liam is yummy and sexy. He has just the right amount of alpha-ness to him to make him very sexy. He found a spunky, feisty, & loving woman in Francesca. No way he could resist her!

Great "marriage of convenience" book!

Now Liam has some choice names for Francesca: fiancée, maybe even wife. Because the only way to keep control of the scandal-plagued news network he's just acquired is if he settles down, and Francesca is perfect fake-fiancée material. But whe

I love every book that I have read by Andrea. This story kept reading until I finished. I would recommend this book to everyone.
A Very Exclusive Engagement is the 5th book in the series Daughters of Power: The Capital, and even though this book can stand alone it is good to have some background information on the secondary characters.

A Very Exclusive Engagement has sizzle from the start and just kept on sizzling. Liam Crowe's hot encounter with Francesca Orr when they were stuck in the elevator kept him wanting more. Liam's Aunt Beatrice wanted to see him married within the year and Francesca was just the person for him
An impulse-buy that sadly got the "DNF"

Of course this is just my fault. Like there are some people who love corn chowder, but I'm not one of them... I'm sure this book is AWESOME corn chowder.

I stopped at the 30 page mark, even though the Hero and Heroine being trapped in an elevator and *almost* having sex because, it's humid and dark and they're horny - that was some excellent crazysauce writing - but still... I just can't with the CEO heroes any more.

In fact - no more super wealthy contempora

What happens in the elevator stays in the elevator; or does it? Another great book by Andrea Laurence. A fake engagement turns into an engagement of the heart. As with all of Andrea's books, her characters draw you into their lives and you want the book to keep on going. Don't miss out on this one.

Kind of an okay book, hero convinces the heroine to act fake engaged with him, she agrees. Then they get married for a year as well. The book didn't capture me much.
