Susan Sleeman sent me a copy of her book: 'No Way Out' in exchange for a review.

As a young woman who isn't a huge fan of romance, a Harlequin novel is not exactly my cup of tea. That being said though, No Way Out is amazing!

The characters all seemed like they would get along in real life and the chemistry between Cole and Alyssa was intense. I really liked how Susan made the family aspect shine. Family is an important part of people's lives and this really showed how having a family that loves

I enjoyed No Way Out, the third book in Susan Sleeman's Justice Agency series. Although this is a series, I have not read the first book Double Exposure (featuring Ethan Justice) but that had no effect on my understanding this story. I enjoyed the second book Dead Wrong (featuring Kat Justice) and look forward to reading Thread of Suspicion (featuring Dani Justice) and Dark Tide (featuring Derrick Justice). I only gave this book 4 stars because not everything in the book was believable once you ...more

No Way Out by Susan Sleeman - A Book Review
“We can’t control things around us. Not a single one of us can. God is in charge.” Who could not benefit from this reminder from Dani Justice? Most of us have struggled with guilt about things that happened that were in actuality out of our control. Susan Sleeman tells a tale filled with suspense and surprises that not only entertains, but also illustrates the damage we can do to ourselves and our relationships when we allow pseudo guilt, the guilt we f

Today was a good day and a bad day to read this story. (April 15, 2013) Susan wrote the book with "Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Because with trials the only peace is through God. The bad part was it had a explosion in it. A little to vivid in my mind today.

The plot is simple with some twists to it that were unexpected in some ways. I really like the characters. I liked how Alyssa was turning to prayer and relying o

A suspenseful inspirational romance.

Alyssa Wells has uncovered evidence that her police officer husband was murdered by his partner. That’s a dangerous claim to make in a small town. She had not suspected it was even possible until she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and overheard a conversation between three men. After two tours in Iraq, protecting Alyssa and her children shouldn’t be a problem for private investigator Cole Justice. Alyssa’s is very doubtful of her ability to judge whe

No Way Out by Susan Sleeman grabbed me on the first page. I was riveted to the story of Alyssa Wells and Cole Justice. Alyssa is a widow with two young children and on a run one night overhears her dead husband’s police partner admit to being part of a meth ring and killing her husband. As she hurries away, she slips and the bad guys are after her.

After two tours in Iraq, Cole Justice is back in the states working as a private investigator. He’s out on the beach the night Alyssa runs for her lif

What a great combo of romantic and dramatic suspense! Alyssa Wells and Cole Justice have a chance meeting . .. . on a ledge . . . overlooking the ocean . . . ..on a dark, stormy night. Cole was running from events in his past; Alyssa was running (literally) from events that would prevent her from living another day of her future. Divine providence teams them up to solve what starts out as a local mystery, with tentacles reaching out to include many other unsolved cases that were the trademark o ...more

This is only the second Harlequin romance I've ever read. The other, along with a science fiction novel, were research. Therefore, if I review this as if it were mainstream fiction rather than as fan of romance novels, you must factor that in.

That being said, I would like for the romance to have unfolded slowly, while keeping the quick pace of the action.

The romance:
Alyssa and Cole fell head-over-heels from the first sighting, In the midst of life or death circumstances. They spend the rest of

No Way Out is definitely filled with suspense! The story line keeps you turning the pages wondering if the mystery murder will be solved without more harm coming to Alyssa, her kids and the Justice family. Alyssa and Cole both have a lot of hurdles to overcome in their lives. The author does a great job progressing them through the struggles that are holding them back and brings them out on the other side as someone who is all the better for having faced the difficult life circumstances. This book is third in a series about adoptive siblings who have formed their own law enforcement agency called The Justice Agency. From the opening sequence, you are drawn into the story with a beach chase scene having the heroine, Alyssa literally dropping into the arms of the hero, Cole Justice. From there, the action never stops. Alyssa's law enforcement husband was killed or maybe murdered in the line of duty leaving her a single mother with twins. She doesn't trust anyone. Cole, having endu ...more

No way out is the story of a widowed cop's wife who overhears a criminal conversation by a good friend and is stalked. She happens upon Cole Justice by accident and takes it upon himself to make her a client in his PI business. It is a good edge of your seat story and leaves you with a twist at the end.

No Way Out was a true pleasure to read! It’s a relatively short book but it grabs the reader right from the start. No lengthy beginning chapters describing 500 characters…just suspense that kept me turning pages. The characters are delightful and easy to get to know. Alyssa is my favorite because of her strength in dealing with adversity. The author subtly includes moments of faith throughout the book which eventually becomes the thread of the entire story. All of the suspense reaches a heartwar ...more

This was a good book, but ot as god, in my opinion, as those of some other reviewers. It was an exciting story. There were two things, neither of them spoilers:

1. For a single mother of twins with a full time job as a real estate agent, the female protagonist seemed to have to much time to run around solving the mystery as was depicted; and,

2. There was one of those editing errors that drives me nuts. At one point, the male protagonist is watching her read to the twins. It is actually a sweet sc

I like the suspense in this book. It carried throughout the book and was believeable. The weaving of their love story was well done. Definately an author I'd look for to read more of her books.

I opened this book for the first time yesterday and finished it yesterday! It grabbed me on page one an I didn't want to put it down. It's part of the Justice Agency series, but stands alone, so you won't have any problem following the story or characters.

Alyssa Wells overhears a conversation that sends her running for her life.
Cole Justice thinks he's outside to watch a coastal storm, but what he gets is a real life storm when Alysa happens upon him while fleeing for her life.

This author is one of those for which I eagerly look when selecting romance and this novel is no exception. It again features members of the Justice family and starts off with a gigantic bombshell dropped in the reader's lap. The tension she creates only builds from that first encounter and keeps the reader engaged throughout. Even though a detail oriented reader can probably figure out who did what, the manner in which the author unfolds the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat. The family s ...more

Susan has written a nail-biter for sure this time! What starts out with a lovely run along the Pacific Ocean, becomes a story you cannot put down. There is no way you could possibly figure out who the villain is. The Justice Agency series just gets better with each book. The author has created characters that one can identify with so well, you almost feel like the action is happening to you. If you enjoy suspense, you will love this book! No Way Out by Susan Sleeman...in one word, riveting. This is the third book in The Justice Agency Series and lives up to its predecessors: Double Exposure and Dead Wrong.

I was hooked from page one. I found it hard to set aside once I started and I expect you'll have the same trouble. Even though it's the third in the series, reading the first two are not necessary to understand the story line. I just love series' like that.
