As a former student of Bill Savage's, I bought this book with very high expectations because the man definitely knows Chicago. I was not disappointed. The main guide itself was published in the 1890s as a guide to City for the Worlds Fair and outlines all manners of vice a traveller can find in the city while at the same time advising them to avoid it. The paradox created is pretty amusing. The illustrations are beautiful, the chapters (written presumably by different authors) often take on ...more
