This is the true story of what happens when a typical American housewife has a divine encounter with the Lord and becomes a modern-day disciple. How does her husband react when he finds a gospel tract between the ham and cheese in his sandwich? Or her children when their mother starts answering the phone, "Praise the Lord" every time it rings?

Jean Coleman is suddenly tran

Wonderfully Refreshing, Honest And Inspirational Account Of A Woman's Journey Of Faith!

This was a fascinating book that was hard to put down. It’s written in a conversational style and the chapters are very short. In this book, Jean Coleman relays the story of her transformation from a Sunday church attendee to a woman who hears the voice of God and desires to know Him more, to seek Him and to be obedient to all she learns. Through this process, her life is transformed (in addition to her husban

This testimony of an ordinary woman's transformation from spiritually dead to alive, and her subsequent rocking her world in Christ, is inspiring and challenging - you will be so blessed to read it, whatever your background! There is such an anointing on these pages. I found myself rejoicing out loud over Coleman's many experiences and just the goodness of God.

There is so much with which I can relate in this book, as someone who grew up in a conservative, evangelical denomination, but had exposu

I want to start out by saying that I won this as from a Goodreads contest. Chapter 29 Revisted is the true story of a woman finding God, which on its own is glorious. However, there were a few instances in the book that I simply did not agree with, particularly early on when she confronts the local Baptist minister about his own faith. This occurs just days after her own faith has been found, yet she already considers herself grounded enough in God to know that the pastor is a born-again with do ...more

You have probably never read a book quite like this! This is a true story about a housewife in Maryland who awakens one night and hears the voice of God speaking to her. Do things like this actually happen today? There is no doubt in this woman's mind that she has received a divine call and her search for the truth begins. There is confusion at first as Jean Coleman begins to take the first steps from sinner to devoted disciple. But when she finds herself at the foot of the cross, the transform

I read this book in one day absorbing it and praying as I read, growing spiritually the whole time. Jean Coleman speaks like a mother or Grandmother, lovingly, instructively without condemnation but with encouragement and grace. She tells fun stories as well as heart pulling stories from her life that demonstrated God's work in her as well as instruct on Biblical principles Such as repentance and forgiveness, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and hearing God's voice. I really enjoyed this book. ...more

Wonderful story!!! Inspiring!!!! Sometimes we think that God doesn't have a plan or a need to use His children unless it is on a grander (larger) scale when, in fact, our "Mission Field" could be the neighborhood grocery store or PTA school meeting. That is how I view life after reading Pastor Jean's book. I look for opportunities to share Jesus at home, work and the Community College classroom (where God has put me after 28 years out of school!!!) keep writing, Pastor Jean!! I would love to rea ...more

This is truly an excellent book. It greatly encouraged me on a tough day when it was hard to remember all the blessing I've had from the Lord. It will minister to you also. The Lord's presence comes with the book.
I'm currently re-reading this book for, I don't know, maybe the fourth time. I really appreciate Ms. Coleman's candor and enthusiasm. Her Christian witness is compelling and appealing. She covers a wide range of aspects of living a Christian life with anecdotes from her own experience, whether it is a time she succumbed to temptation; to God's financial provision, whether in the large concern of her daughter's college tuition or the modest one of paying bills during a particularly tight month; o ...more

I gave this book three stars, but towards the end I started feeling like it was worth more like two. It just got really redundant to me. This book is about a housewife who wasn't particularly religious and one day hears the voice of God audibly speaking to her. Mostly, it's about all the people who she's brought to the Lord. Which is great. Jean Coleman's story held my interest well enough.

There were some aspects of the author's beliefs that seemed a little backwoods-y church to me. Speaking in

I didn't get a chance to review this right away as I went on vacation and then read another book in-between, so it isn't quite as fresh in my mind. I enjoyed this book and it grabbed me from the get-go. Very inspiring even for the born-again Christian. We should all have the faith and perseverance that Jean has through Christ! Yes, miracles do exist even today. If we are rooted in the word, and are "still", we can hear God speak and see the works of His hands. There were a few things in the book ...more

Review for “Chapter 29 Revisited”-Non Fiction
“Chapter 29 Revisited: The amazing true story of what happens when a typical American housewife meets Jesus!” by Jean Coleman is a wonderful inspirational testimony of one woman’s birth into the kingdom. I enjoyed this book. Jean Coleman writes in a simple way that is easy to grasp and you can tell she is excited about her subject. She shares several moving stories from her own life, calling it the 29th book of Acts, then challenges to write our own 2

This book fell into my hands when I needed a lot of encouragement, my life felt like a walk on a foggy day, no way to see the path. Reading Jean's story was so refreshing, it gave me hope that God is still the same and can do the same for me that he did for those who loved him thousands of years ago. Read this book if you need an extra help for faith!

This is one of the best books about a mother, wife, neighbor and party girl, who changed her life after she met Jesus Christ. Her stories will make you laugh, cry and desire to know the Holy Spirit as she discovers His life inside her own body.
Don't miss this book.
