Black Box (Turbulence #5)
by
Jordan Castillo Price (Goodreads Author)
Playing catch-up is frustrating. Paul Cronin was the last crew member to join Flight 511, and he’s got a lot of catching up to do. To make matters worse, his predecessor Marlin had a “unique” way of looking at things. Dealing with the effects of the turbulence phenomenon is bad enough. Now Paul needs to figure out which of Marlin’s notes are vital clues, and which are the...more

as i start this review, I know for sure: I'm gonna reread this one when number 6 gets released. No doubt, this one will peel layer after layer, right up to the 4th re-read (or so)
a brilliant story in many ways: Marlin's metafysical interest and he turns out to be quite the Yedi, with all the lines he's feeding us! each one a bit more of a blast: 'ever since the turbulence, it seemed there was an epiphany around every corner'.

3.5 stars. I’m not crazy about rating these installments individually. As a whole, this story is between 4 and 5 stars (depending on how it ends), but this episode was not as strong as the others. We learn more about the mysterious Marlin, and Paul and Dallas define their relationship a bit more clearly. I can’t wait to see what happens next, though.

Good installment of this serial, with several flashbacks to Marlin, the pilot who killed himself at the beginning of the story.
"Aside from the offers it damn near killed me to refuse, you asked me to be your man."
He what?
"Ain't no man of mine living at the airport. Got it?"
This was one of my least favorites of the series because it focused on Marlin who I really don't like much and had way to much flashback. As always throughout this series, the relationship between Dallas and Paul is wonderful, although it's all instalove. Price keeps my frustrated because this pair still (view spoiler).
