Cover & Title - five out of five.
Favorite Character - Sage

I want Creed Riley for my Christmas present.

No truer words have ever been written.
This book was my brightness on a cold, dark autumnal day. It is a real pick me up of a story. I would go as far as to compare it to the literary version of a cuddle.
I loved the characters, Creed is one sexy cowboy & Sage is one creative Miz. The relationship between them is a slow but beautiful build. The author makes their love very realistic. Th

I won an ARC review of Mistletoe Cowboy and I absolutely loved it! She has one sassy cowgirl Sage and one hunkalish cowboy Creed (one of Ace's brothers)and sparks fly between them as they are stranded together in a blizzard. Both dealing with commitment issues they face off and try and get along and work the ranch but for different reasons. She started out not wanting to like him but he somehow he grow on her and find a way into her heart. Creed wants the ranch to have his own place but starts t ...more

Carolyn Brown hits it outta the park once again with Mistletoe Cowboy, the fifth installment of herSpikes and Spurs series. This book is focused more on the two main characters than the others in this series, but I love it just as much as the others.

In this installment, we meet Sage Presley, an artist who has sworn off commitment and men because they never stay. Sage is a relatable heroine who has a quirky and fun way of looking at the world, but

It is the season for Holiday romance! I enjoy curling up by our fireplace with a roaring fire, cup of cocoa, and a sexy romance to read. I was looking forward to reading Mistletoe Cowboy by Carolyn Brown this holiday season because I usually love anything by this author.

Unfortunately, this was not one of my favorites by this author. I couldn't get into the plot and Sage was not a favorite character for me. She was snotty and stand offish. I just couldn't bring myself to care about her turmoil an

I keep telling myself every holiday season I’m going to read more Christmas stories. So when I ran across Carolyn Brown’s latest, I decided to start there. Despite a couple of issues, you do get the feeling of the season, lots of snow, chopping down and decorating the Christmas tree, all along with a sexy cowboy any woman would love to spend a quiet, warm evening on the sofa in front of a roaring fireplace.

Aside from Creed Riley, our hero of the book, I also enjoyed the mistletoe theme that’s we

4.25 out of 5. Those who love Carolyn Brown's work and this series in particular will be delighted with this newest addition to the series. If you read Book 4, the story about Ace Riley and Jasmine, you will enjoy this novel that highlights Ace's younger brother Creed, a man who is now wanting his own spread and who has entered into a conditional agreement with Widow Presley. However, contending with the widow is nothing compared to the anger and resentment to be endured from Sage Presley, succe ...more

Commitment! It made Sage run the other way. It made Creed shudder. But Sage's granny, the Widow Presley, was determined to get her granddaughter a cowboy for Christmas. And who better than Creed, the man interested in purchasing the widow's Rockin' C Ranch?

The fact that a three-day blizzard was blowing in just made things all the better. A person can't run from commitment when they're s

Part of my 25 Books for the Holidays for 2012

How Mistletoe Cowboy put me in the Holiday Spirit: There is nothing sexier than a Cowboy Romance during the holidays! Maybe it is that I am a Texas Gal but cowboy romances hold a special place in my heart. Throw in a snowstorm, a stray dog (and cat), flannel shirts and I am pretty much in the Christmas Spirit by page 2!

This is book 5 in Brown’s Spikes and Spurs series and I’m happy to say there are more books on the horizon. Not having read books 1 through 4, I will definitely have to go back and read them since I couldn’t put this one down. I was hooked from the first page to the last and didn’t want the book to end!

This was a western romance set mainly in Texas but parts of the story took place in Pennsylvani

Dear Santa,

For Christmas, I would like to be snowed in on a ranch with nothing but a sexy cowboy to keep me company. I don't mind if this causes me to be bumped from next year's "nice" list. In fact, I prefer it that way.

I liked this. It fit my holiday mood. I really liked Creed; he's a gentleman. I liked Sage as well, although it took a little bit more time to warm up to her.

My thoughts:
As always, Brown's book is just adorable. It's a feel good book, a book that feels like eating yummy pie by the fireplace. What can I say, it will make you happy too.

Sage is pissed, and she meets Creed. Sparks fly, yes neither is happy at first. As she wants the ranch and he wants the ranch. But little do they know that Grand's Indian Sense know exactly what these two need. Sure the love comes fast, but it feels right because they are soul mates and so meant to be. There is a bit of

Before we know it Christmas will be here and a great way to get into the spirit of the season is by reading author Carolyn Brown’s latest release, MISTLETOE COWBOY.

Brown has a unique way of mixing a sexy cowboy, a spitfire artist, a blizzard, some Christmas magic, and a meddling grandmother for a rip-roaring good time. This story has steamy romance and a touch of old-fashion Christmas.

Sage Presley barely makes it home to the Rockin C Ranch before everything is cut off by a blizzard. She can’t be

I love reading holiday romance books, it's that time of year that I search for any and all holiday theme books. I stumbled across this at netGalley. And to be perfectly honest, yes it was the cover that caught my eye. And it was double the pleasure since it was a Christmas themed book, too.

The premise of the book is Widow Presley is wanting to sell her ranch. She makes arrangements with the buyer, Creed, he must stay at the ranch for a bit

This is a really good example of when a book's rating has much more to do with intended audience than quality of the book.

Writing-wise, this book's about a 2.5 to a 3. Nothing to knock your socks off, fairly predictable, but it had its good moments. The dialogue was a little uneven (solid Texas drawl on the part of all the characters... except in spots where it sounded oddly formal), and there were a few bits that didn't ring true (it would make more sense for Sage to be all toe-curly about Cree

She knew her granddaughter, Sage, whom she raised after her parents died, would be highly upset, but she had it in her mind that Creed would make her granddaughter a good husband. If I could sum this book up in just one word, I think it would be mediocre. There was nothing really special about this book. It was meh. I’ve read other books in this series and quite enjoyed them. Our heroines are usually sassy and funny and the cowboys loveable and stand out. Now I’m not saying these characters are not likable, they are, but again nothing really sticks out about them. Sage is not particularly sassy or funny. She is a bit whinny and insecure, which I was not expecting. Creed w ...more

Mistletoe Cowboy is the 5th book of the Spikes & Spurs series.

After Creed Riley buys a ranch from a sweet old lady, he planned to familiarize himself with the place while enjoying some peace and quiet. Instead, what he gets is the old woman’s granddaughter, Sage Presley, a spitfire who’s none too pleased about the recent change of ownership. When the two get stuck in a snowstorm for two weeks, sparks and insults fly as the two catch a case of serious cabin fever. However, when combined with a stray cat and dog and a few sprigs of mistletoe, Creed and Sage ...more

This novel started off a little slow for me, but it finished on a high note. My fourth and final Readers Choice Award novel to judge, ended up to be a bit more intimate and satisfying read than I had anticipated from the beginning first few chapters. By the mid-point of the book, it had picked up much more steam, and one couldn’t help by fall in love the hero, Creed Riley. What a lovable gentlemen this cowboy was! So sweet!

A clever, sexy tale. Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:

Artist Sage was determined to get back to her grandmother’s place, the Rockin’ C Ranch, to stop her from selling it. Sage had lost her father when she was two years old, and she and her mother had moved in with her grandmother, Gran Presley. When Sage was four, her mother had died in an automobile accident. Having been deserted first by her father, then by her mother, Sage refuses to get close to anyone. Her grandmother has threaten

Sage is shocked and upset that her Grandmother has decided to sell the ranch! She’s driven home in a blinding blizzard to talk out of what she thinks is a mistake. Unfortunately for Sage, she arrives too late and her Grandmother has already left for the winter!

Stranded at the ranch, Sage meets Creed – the cowboy who wants to buy the ranch. These two commitment phobic characters are thrown together by a crazy blizzard, looking after abandoned animals and trying to keep their hands to themselves.

Mistletoe Cowboy is the first book by Carolyn Brown I’ve read. It will definitely not be the last one. I loved this book. In fact at times, I found it to be very funny. Hopefully, I was supposed to be laughing. Ada Presley, Sage’s grandmother, and her Aunt Essie, Ada’s older sister, are so funny when they’re together.

Mistletoe Cowboy is the story of Sage Presley and Creed Riley. While this book is a part of a series,

Sage Presley can’t believe her grandmother is selling the Rockin’ C Ranch — to a stranger! And at Christmas! What is she thinking? So she hurries to the ranch, only to get stuck there in a snowstorm, sans Grand. But she’s not alone. Oh no.

Creed Riley is thankful for the chance at his very own ranch, even if it comes with a three-week “test phase” clause, and a whole pile of snow. What he’s not quite so thankful for is the unexpected guest who arrived in the dead of night, or the mutt who follows

I've never been a huge cowboy romance fan (I never disliked them, just...you know...not something I actively looked for), but that's been changing lately. I'm not usually a fan of whirlwind romance stories either, but I'll make an exception in this case! I loved the chemistry between the two characters and I loved the character growth (particularly in the heroine!). I loved the references to my favourite John Wayne film (McClintock!, highly recommend BTW). I really liked the supporting character ...more
