The language and the vocabulary used in the book is really nice. Although the book seems a bit slow at first(may be because this is the first part of the trilogy and it deals with the entry of Winston at first), it picks up pace once the action starts. The plot is excellent and comparable to the original Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I got to read the pre-publication edit, and was DELIGHTED as a Conan Doyle fan that Mike has pulled off a perfect facsimile of a Sherlock Holmes story - we are ensconced in Victorian London with its docks, eateries, less-salubrious drinking holes, shops etc, and meet young Winston Churchill - this being the first in a series Mike is doing with Holmes and Winston - a fairly smart young lad, as well as being reintroduced to old favourite Wiggins, the leader of the Baker Street Irregulars. I'm based in Thailand. I've lived most of my life in Africa, Asia and the Far East manufacturing handicrafts and teaching. I decided to quit regular work and write. There wasn't really a plan, just an instinct that I could write in different historical and contemporary settings.

I recently completed a Sherlock Holmes novel trilogy in which Winston Churchill, aged twelve, joins Sherlock and Watson a
