I remember when “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was first released. On the surface, it was about a guy looking for a lost artifact. The folks who had it did a pretty good job of hiding it. Oh yeah, and he was racing a bunch of nazi's who were trying to get to it first – or failing that, at least have possession at the end. Then, it turned out that there was this mystical element hovering over the whole thing.

Gerald J. Kubicki takes that generalization at its highest level, and modernizes it. Our hero

A Dubious Artifact is the sixth book in a series. I must say up front that I have not read any of the previous books and that my reactions may have been different if I had followed the entire series.
This book is fast-paced and intriguing. I like the way the past and present are woven into a complicated story, building a mysterious puzzle for the reader to piece together. I enjoyed the developing relationships between the main characters. The diverse schemes on both sides are well thought out an

I received a Kindle copy of A Dubious Artifact from the author, in exchange for a review. This book is an entertaining espionage novel and I would recommend it were it not for the editing issues. When I read the book, the errors in grammar, punctuation, usage, and tense were so numerous that I thought I was reading an early, unfinished draft of the book. I communicated with the author and he told me he uses a couple of beta-readers and a professional editor. It appears a spell checker must have ...more

(FTC: I received a Kindle copy of this book from the author, and I thank him for his generosity. This in no way influenced my opinions, which, as usual are 100% my own.)

Where has this marvelous series been that I have never crossed paths before?! The characters are so well written and "seasoned" with maturity and intellect,I almost never wanted to get to the end of the book! (I want Colton and his partner Loni to be my new BFFs)

Colton Banyon and his "company" are "finders" of lost/stolen/obvious

This is the second Colton Banyon novel I've read and the sixth in the series.

It's part thriller, part fantasy, with curses, magic rings, spirits that aid our hero, and lots of action.

The Effort is a Nazi organization that was started in America before WWII ended and these days had their hooks deep in the government, most especially Homeland Security.

The artifact of the title is an ancient Chinese piece of gold made to resemble an ashtray. Two formulae were inscribed on it. One extended life and

I loved the book I couldn’t put it down. A Dubious Artifact is the 6th book in a series of mystery books from Gerald J Kubicki. The group of characters are well developed, the story line has a number of twists and turns. The book starts with Colton Banyons' father in WWII to develop the importance of the artifact, and moves into present day. With characters from agencies of the FBI, Homeland Security, a spy from China and the fictional group name the Effort. This is a must read for yourself, so ...more

Banyon and company are in the business of taking out old Nazis and the Effort. In this, the sixth book of the series, they need to keep an artifact out of the hands of the bad guys. This book has lots of action, some mystery, ghosts and curses. The sex-crazed Patel sisters and jealous Loni provide comic relief. This is a fun action read. I have read A Dubious Plan, but it is not necessary to have read the other books to know what is going on.

Another great entry in the Colton Banyon series. This time Colt and the gang are up against not only The Effort, but the Chinese Communists vying for possession of an artifact that will change the world. Lots of action, and lots of humor.

I was born and raised on Eastern Long Island in the Westhampton area. My youth was full of adventures since we had miles of woods surrounding my home and we were near the ocean. I didn’t know until I reached college that most people didn’t have celebrities living nearby. The Hamptons are loaded with them. I considered myself an athlete and excelled in baseball. My goal was to play major league ...more
