I received a free copy of the Audible audio edition in exchange for an honest review.

Again, wishing for half stars. I'd like to give this one 3.5, but enjoyed it enough to round up. I enjoyed the narrator's performance which I'm convinced made this a 4 star rather than a 3. I will definitely be willing to listen to others by her. She did a great job with making the male lead sound believably masculine, which IMHO is the most important and probably the hardest thing to do for a female narrator. I
Kissed is one of those books that I find annoying and enjoyable at the same time. The annoying part is that the hero and heroine are really bad at communication. So there is constant misunderstanding that leads to hurt feelings and broken hearts for the characters and frustration for the reader. You've all read those kind of books. If that was all that was going on, I would have given this book 2 stars.

However, throwing in a bit more conflict aside outside of the love/hate story as well as the
I got this as an Audible from the author and publisher.

I was really surprise with this book because it was nothing like the synopsis. The synopsis was only the beginning of the story and there were so much more after that that I was unaware of and it really got me unhinged.

I was really hooked from the beginning because I absolutely liked Christian and his back-story to why he was willing to ruin Jessamine and take her brother’s money. But I really wanted more from him as the story went on, even

I have to say that I was quite intrigued during the first portion of the book. And even somewhat into the second portion. Yes, it was fairly typical Regency romance, but there were some interesting little twists. And half of the story takes place in the American colonies. Jessie was a headstrong character, but she was liable enough--quite naive to be sure. I wasn't too keen on Christian, especially during the second half of the book. He seemed to be too proud and sure of himself. I appreciated t ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Kissed written by Tanya Anne Crosby and narrated by Laurel Schroeder. The story is well written and one of the best Georgian romances I’ve ever read or listened to (which admittedly are not very many). The story begins in England, where the two main characters are engaged. Jessie loves Christian, but when his father dies leaving him penniless, Jessie’s father breaks off the engagement. After her father dies, Jessie wants to win back Christian’s affections, but h ...more

Stars: Overall 4 Narration 5 Story 3

A Georgian era romance that starts in England and ends up in Charleston that focuses on the on again—off again betrothal between third son Christian and Jessamyn Stone pawn of the brother who holds the title and determines her future. Christian is the third son and far out of the succession. Not independently wealthy, his future fortunes laid in his mother’s bequest, and when that didn’t happen, Jessamyn’s brother, who has arranged a more for
This is a well written novel about a young girl who fell in love with her betrothed and would never accept another no matter how advantageous the marriage would be. It did not hurt that the man her brother chose was not a very good man to begin with add to that the fact that he was old enough to be her father only made him more an appealing.

Jessie had to fight until the end to get what she wanted. At times I thought surely there is someone more worthy but Jessie stayed true to herself even when

This was an interesting book set just before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. We begin in England, where Christian is hired by Jessamine's nasty brother to break her heart. The "why" of this turns out to be the real story. Jess and Christian were once betrothed, but when his nasty brother cheats him out of his inheritance, the contract is nullified. Christian agrees to break her heart for revenge, but Jess thinks he is the
Kissed, written by Tanya Anne Crosby, is an enjoyable historical romance primarily set in the American colonies before the American Revolution. The story centers around Jessamine Stone who has never gotten over her onetime fiance Christian Haukinge. She wants to win back Christian, but her efforts are undermined by her devious brother who only views her as property to be sold to the highest bidder. After an ugly showdown with her brother, Jesse goes to live with a cousin in the colonies to mend ...more
I have read all of Ms. Crosby's highland books and LOVED every single one. While waiting for the next Guardian book to come out, I decided to give her back list a try. I found this book via a book bub recommendation.

It just wasn't for me. The writing was good and the plot had promise. But, I found Jessamine aka Jessie to be one of the most annoying heroines I have ever read. She cried, she got angry, she couldn't speak and at times she was too stupid to live. Christian was not much better - but,
I absolutely love reading a real good Avon romance! You get the high romance, the willful heroine and the rogue hero who lusts after the woman but finds himself honoring her as well. I love that, and Kissed was perfect example of this. Perfect Historical Romance plot of a virgin, courting gone wrong and a pirate who can't keep his hands of the woman he once lost. Add in the pudgy villain, and we have the perfect scene set for enjoyable Historical Romance!

Gimme a tall, dark and handsome pirate wi
I just really couldn't get into this story. Christian is a bastard (literally... the result of an extramarital affair), but the general public doesn't know it. He was betrothed to Jessie, the daughter of a count, but when his father died, his brother took his inheritance leaving him essentially penniless and the count called off the betrothal. Now the count is dead and his son is trying to get Jessie married off but she's refused the suitor he's chosen so he goes to Christian with an embarrassme ...more
Oh I do love a tortured hero. I'm not exactly sure why, but I do. And Christian is a shining example of the dark and tortured hero. He's been put through so much, courtesy of his own brother. He used to have the world at his feet, and it was all ripped away from him. Of course he's angry and bitter.
So when the Duke of Westmoor offers him money to break his own sister's heart, who just happens to be Christian's ex-fiancee, Christian jumps at the chance for vengeance.
Christian's plans are scupper
With its nomination from Romantic Times Magazine as Best Historical, it's not surprising that this book was an enthralling read from start to finish. With a setting not often depicted in books, Kissed sets itself apart from other historical reads and keeps you immersed in its emotional ups and downs and guessing until the final page due to its numerous twists and turns.

Upon first being introduced to Christian it's hard to see him as the hero. There's a request to hire him and have him turn on th
A Really Great read. I really enjoyed this as fast moving, kept attention and had great dialogue. It was fun to read and has a palatable plot with believable characters. Nicely done.

Delightful romance. A bit predictable, albeit in a good way. Perfect for a lazy, relaxing Sunday afternoon. Love me some Tanya Anne Crosby.

Kissed a very good read

I really enjoyed this story. It held my interest and had enough suspense to keep me guessing as to what was coming next. The characters were developed completely and all held your interest.

This was a delightful romance between two strong-willed and prideful people - Jessamine "Jessie" and Christian "Hawk". You will be swept back in time when true love paid no part in marriage pacts. A time when love blossomed innocently without much coaxing! Where passion couldn't be denied no matter how great the cost! I loved every beautiful descriptive moment of their story! This was the first book I read by Tanya Anne Crosby and it most certainly won't be my last!!

I just read Kissed, written by Tanya Anne Crosby, part 4 of the FOUR IRRESISTIBLE ROGUES. I have read two Scottish romances of this author and loved them very much. I was a bit disappointed with this one, I can't explain why. I liked her characters Christian and Jessamine. It is well written, but it is not her best one!
That is why, I give her book 4 stars. I am looking forward to read her latest books instead.

Recommends it for: curious souls
I am not a fan of the genre, but having made friends with the lovely and charming Ms. Crosby, I accepted an autographed copy and sat down for the drudgery of reading it.

I was pleasantly surprised. Crisp, flowing writing, well written, if familiar, characters, and a gift for pacing set this award-winning romance novelist apart from the pack (at least as I would imagine the pack).

She weeps, cries, sobs, sniffles, her way through a really dumb book.
short read, least favorite of the collection.

Put a menu in front of me and I immediately don't know what I want. Fried green tomatoes with grits? Yep, OK. Fish? Sounds good, too. OK, so what are you having? I'll do that too. When it comes to shoes--forget it. I end up buying nothing because I can't make up my mind. Thank God I have a husband who has great tastes, or my closet might be empty.
