As a mother of two boys, I was really excited by this Title. But unfortunately it left me very disappointed. I found many of the examples given really antiquated, and I struggled to relate. I had to remind myself this was written in 1995. but that wasn't that long ago??? I would like to think we are way past this.

This lady legitimately has a lot of interesting things to say, but I wish she could have summed them up in a one-page fact sheet. Certainly, I was not her target audience here (I was reading this for my feminist book club). I am not a mother, I don't have any brothers, the men in my life are extremely well-adjusted individuals and - here's the biggest one for me - I'm fairly sure I don't care that much about being a mother in the near or distant future. The ideas presented in this book: 5 stars The way this book is written: 1 star. Since ideas are much more important than the capability of the writer to present the ideas (to me) I give it 4 stars.

Basically, this is another one of those books that every parents should read. And another one of those books that could be summed up in a fabulous ten page essay.
