I really enjoyed this book!! I think Luca is so sweet and sexy and cant help but love him!! As much as ashton treats him like shit he still trys to break down her walls and trys to become her friend again!! After he pushed her away after his dad died she finally stops trying with him and turns to the "popular "kids but in doing that she became a huge stuck up bitch!! She ONLY care about being popular!!! Impossible was a quick read for me, and I enjoyed it. :)

While I did enjoy Impossible, there were a couple of things that I think could've been done differently. First, I would have preferred that this book had been written in third person rather than first. I felt that first person made both Luca and Ashton seem very shallow, and it made it harder to like them...especially Ashton. Second, I wish that the topic of bullying had been handled better. Her change from mean girl to nice girl was so sudden that you didn't even get to see her realize the mistakes she'd made. I wish that the author had paid more attention to that, and made Ashton's realization that things were wrong more noticeable because it was really glossed over.

The thing I enjoyed about this book was the rekindled friendship between Luca and Ashton. I loved getting to see them become friends again and to see them heal the wounds that they had from their past when their friendship first ended. I do wish that we'd gotten more focus on emotions rather than their sexual attraction for one another though....the focus on their attraction just kind of made their relationship seem a bit shallow. I did really enjoy their relationships with their families though. Both of their mothers were kind of absorbed in their own problems, but I really liked that Ashton and Luca were both close to their moms, and I loved Ash's relationship with her little brother, Blake. :D

Ashton was a horrible character at the beginning, and I didn't really like that at all...I'm not a fan of bullies, and I find it hard to sympathize with them. I did like Ash by the end of the story though, but I wish that she'd had some actual substance in her thoughts from the beginning. That would have made her transition into someone nice much more believable, but I did still enjoy her near the end. :) Luca was definitely the more enjoyable character out of the two. He was funny, and was so passionate about his music. :) He was definitely a flawed character, too, and I wasn't too happy with him at the end, but Ash took one for the team and was the mature one in their relationship at the end. :P

Overall, it was a short, quick read, and I did like it. I liked seeing the main characters change and getting to see them bond with one another. As I mentioned, there were a few things I think could've been improved, but it was a good story when you just want something quick to read. The bigger issues aren't really dwelt on, so it works as a light read, too. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes characters that are very different, but fall for each other anyway...and if you're a fan of romances coming out of rekindled friendships you'll probably enjoy this one. This book is sweet and annoying and stupid but nice at the same time. Annoyed how stupid Ashy can be. But, uhm, I think you couldn't blame her? For what she did? Maybe, Just maybe, she did all that because, for people in middle school or high school or whatever, Popularity is really more important than anything. Stupid, I know, but still. Hmm. But I liked this book. Just annoyed how stubborn they can be.

So I feel this strange affinity with Komal Kant. We've never met or spoken, but we both released our first books within weeks of each other, and now (like we freaking planned it), we've released our new books within days of each other.
So, I've had this in my to-read pile for awhile and I thought last night, "you need to do this shit, Autumn." And I did and I am so glad. Love the story. Love the characters. Love the writing.

I read this book in one day. It made my ridiculously long train ride incredibly short :)

At first I didn't like either of the MCs. They were just so mean to each other. I was worried that the entire book would be like that, but something intrigued me and so I read on. Man, I'm SO glad I did. I grew to love the MCs at about the same pace they fell for each other. The dynamic between Ashton and Lucas's relationship was, again cliche in the 'I hate you, but I love you' sort of way, but was completely addicting. Their sexual tension and hot-and-cold interactions makes it hard to stop reading, and that's not even including those swoon filled lines that made me, well, swoon! :P

In all honesty, I couldn't stand Ashton's character! She starts off as being this huge b**** to not only Luca, but to other kids at her school as well, all because she wants to fit in with her other bitchy friends. She fits the definition of a bully perfectly, is materialistic and thinks she's better than everyone around her. What bothered me most about Ashton wasn't even the fact that she was a real b*****, it was the fact that I didn't see much growth in her. For one the only reason she agrees to go out with Luca is because he suddenly gets a makeover that, I guess makes him "acceptable" to be around. Her shallowness continued to be a dominant part of who she was and I was completely turned off by it. That being said, although by the end of the novel Ashton has evidently "changed"....it wasn't enough to make me actually like her as a protagonist.

Luca on the other hand was *sigh* ....pretty awesome! He has this whole gothic/emo look going on at the beginning (not that I'm goth or anything but I'm a girl who loves her black, lol) and proves to be much more likable than Ashton. In addition to being a good looking fella, he also manages to put Ashton in her place and even stands up for one of Ashton's victims. If that's not hot, I don't know what is!

Overall, Impossible may have been cliche with a very hard to like main character, but I can't deny that I flew through it and came away pretty satisfied. The ending may have been a tad rushed, but all in all, I think it's a pretty good read! I'm looking forward to reading more from this author in the future! (less)

Luca is such a wonderful, sweet, and caring person. I like Ashton but she has a tendency to worry too much what others think of her. But I can understand to some degree, she's scared people will all eventually leave her. This book definitely shows that appearances do not speak for the people. Oh God, where do I start? Well, maybe I should start with this: typical American high school. No offense to my fellow bookworms who are American ~~I have relatives in the States, so please don't hunt them~~.

I don't know if the system of schools in the United States goes by these stereotypes. Movies, books and some reality shows that in every school in the US, there is this cheerleader captain who is as bitch as hell, the best friend who is also a cheerleader, the high school quarterback and...more 4 STARS!

I don't know if the system of schools in the United States goes by these stereotypes. Movies, books and some reality shows that in every school in the US, there is this cheerleader captain who is as bitch as hell, the best friend who is also a cheerleader, the high school quarterback and the freak. I am in love with books with simple plots and common end of stories; they are much easier to appreciate and to understand because it happens in real life.

As I read about a quarter of the book, I was ready to give up and write a 'no rating review' for this. But as I read the reviews, I tried to move past the angst of high school in the form of reputation. I went bisexual for Ashy and gaga over Luca; but I must say that I wanted to smack the living ~~shit~~ out of Ashton for being the shallow bitch that she was.

I knew from the beginning that Kance was nothing but the snarky bitch with 'trouble' tattooed on her forehead. Too much cheerleading has gone to her head. I wanted to kick her on the edge of a cliff with her good girl act. Jealous little bitch that she is.

Even though I may have wanted to kick Ashton as well, I seemed to love her as the story progresses. I don't have daddy issues but I can feel her pain for not knowing her father and then all of the father figures she had in her life disappear ~~tis' not an excuse for being a bitch though~~. I cried with her when she found the cork board on the garage wall of Luca's home and wanted to wail and wallow with the misery she felt when she witnessed Grant Byron's car accident.

I can say that Luca has been the character that stayed constant throughout the story. Having this minor makeover from zero to hero didn't change him much; he was the amazing book boyfriend from the beginning. *swoons*

Overall, this book was both sweet and so aggravating, that everyone who reads this could relate so much with the drama in it. Just hold on to your panties and wait for everything to fall in place in the end. (less)

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had me hooked from the start and it only took me a day to read. I’m really glad I gave Impossible a chance because I ended up really enjoying it. It turned out to be a much more powerful and emotional read than I initially thought it would be. The idea at the start of the book kind of reminded me of the 1990s movie Drive Me Crazy, but it was different enough that the similarities were only general.

When I first discovered this book in the blogisphere world I knew that I had to get my hands on it- despite contemporary not being my 'go-to' genre (that belongs to YA paranormal)- There was something about this book that just called to me and pulled me out of my comfort zone and am I really glad that it did!

I really liked male main, Luca- think of any bad boy in YA (whether it be Jace, Daemon- whoever) and make him humble/ low-key and you have Luca. Luca never felt the need to flaunt himself or get in caught in the popularity game, he just was. Which unlike a lot of the aforementioned bad boys made him so much more realistic and approachable. Admittedly while reading the book, Ashton, the female lead, did grate on my nerves a fair bit. But after I sat and thought about the book after finishing it I realized that the way that she acts is very much true for someone of her age (I think that what a lot of older YA readers forget, myself included, when we read the genre is that it is targeted to a YA audience- we can't chastise the characters for not acting in the way that we might because, in many cases, we do have a lot more years of experience on them)- when something important is ripped from someone's life (in Ashton's case, popularity) I think that we would only act in a similar way to how she did, doing everything in our power to get it back.

Komal's biggest strength, in my opinion? Writing sexy-times like no other. There are a number of scenes in this book that will take your breath away (the kitchen scene, anyone?)- furthermore, each of these sexy-time scenes is quite tastefully done (there have been a number of YA books as of late where I have been shocked by how explicit some authors have been with scenes of this nature).

Another talent that Komal possesses is setting up the companion novels to this book "Falling For Hadie" and "Wrong Side of Town"- we are given a tidbit of who some of the characters in the latter books are, what their conflicts are and the likes of, in this book, and in doing so Komal really hooks the readers in, ensuring that they will add her to their "must buy" list.

All in all, I do think that this is a strong debut from author Komal Lewis and I do consider myself to be one of those "hooked" readers- I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next! I highly recommend this book for those looking for a fun and flirty, not to mention quick, read! (less)

I want to start off this review with some honesty - when people pick up indie author's, they tend to be hesitant. What am I going to get out of this? Can this person really write a "good" story? What if I don't like it? All these thoughts are normal. However, Komal Lewis's debut novel will leave you with these answers: I got an awesome, well-rounded story. She can really write and leave me wanting more. I loved it!

Ok, I'm not 100% sure why, but I liked this story more than I expected.

Komal Lewis isn't an older woman. But the dialog and the way the characters talked felt so forced and once again.. robotic. What 17 year old says "ruckus" ?

Ashton and Luca weren't from the South. So the fact that Luca, a 17/18 year old boy called his mom "Momma" even when talking about her to other people, was really off putting. Hell, I'm from the South and guys here do call their moms "momma" but not one of them is like, "Momma is baking a pie and needs to borrow some flour". I know it doesn't sound as bad now that I've re-typed it out, but reading it was a nightmare.
Ashton was really unlikeable even through out the book. She would feel bad for things she'd done but then go back and want the same things that would put her in the same positions.

Luca was super goth at the beginning of the book, toting black spikey hair and eye liner and was a complete and total social out-cast. Then one day dies his hair back and is a miraculous hottie that all the HS girls wanted. Did Komal even attend public school?

Ashton was put into a situation where she was seriously almost raped. She was definitely physically assulted. And nothing came of the situation. In-fact. It would seem that the attacker and her "best friend" worked together to set her and Luca up later on in the book trying to break them up.

Also- The fact that Ashton ended up witnessing Lucas dad's death felt really unnecessary. It felt like it was a dash of drama to fill the pages but really had nothing much to do with the story line. I get that she was close to his dad. That's fine. But a few mentions of her car panic attacks and that was pretty much it. Felt pretty random.

I just found this whole book really shallow with no real meat. (less)

Well that was sweet, angsty & frustrating, with a dose of sexy all rolled into one. It was kinda like a mash-up of the movies Can't buy me Love, Drive me crazy & Mean Girls, but it worked.

Ash & Luca were next door neighbors & best friends growing up. From the time they were toddlers they were inseparable. Until tragedy strikes Lucas family & he pushes Ash away. Fast foward 7 years......

Frankly, "Impossible" didn't have perfectly well-created characters. The story was super plain and simple. However, I couldn't tear myself of the book.

It was a story about boy/girl next door who used to be best friend but some unfortunate thing drifted them apart. I probably would've given this at the very least a three star, if not for hating one of the main characters. Honestly, I could barely stomache some parts the the book and I had to keep putting it down. I couldn't bring myself to read any more of it until I had cooled down.

I knew I was going to have a rough time with this early on. Not the best phrasing, some questionable wording choices, choppy storytelling, etc, but I pressed on nonetheless. I love the boy/girl next door thing, always have, so I kept going just for the story.

It was a quick, entertaining read about second chances, love and trust. I had some problem connecting with Ashton because she can be a real bitch sometimes but I very much like Luca. The pacing was kind of slow at first and then it went pretty fast, it left me with an "i want more" mantra.

It was a quick, entertaining read about second chances, love and trust. I had some problem connecting with Ashton because she can be a real bitch sometimes but I very much like Luca. The pacing was kind of slow at first and then it went pretty fast, it left me with an "i want more" mantra.

It's the usual cliché clash of the cliques but there's a reason why something is cliché, right? Everyone digs it. Anyway, there was just some part near the end that annoyed me but the rest was good and i had fun reading this sweet and light novel. I had issues with Ash being the one to make things work out when I feel like it's Luca's fault and he should be the one to make the grand gesture to win her back BUT I realized that when you love someone and that someone loves you back, despite the circumstances, you do whatever it takes to keep them. Even when it means losing your pride (But never lose your dignity. You gotta love yourself too.).

Ashton. This girl can be a big bitch. Lol. Seriously. She WAS a bitch until she realized that having someone love you unconditionally is waaay better than being number 1. As i've said earlier, I had troubles connecting with her but I eventually found my way into liking her.

Luca. Sensitive guy! Who doesn't like a sensitive guy? He's very caring and mature and dependable too. I felt like he screwed up with what he allowed to happen but I figured it wasn't his fault and sometimes, when we get hurt, we do stupid things, not realizing that it'll catch up to us and we'll end up hurting more. So, i found it within me to understand him and forgive him. Lol. And, i love his heart and how big it is.

There's a slight bantering here between the two protagonists and banters always make my day. I guess it got me hooked the moment their mouths opened to argue. Lol. All in all, it was a book that leaves you with a light feeling, and i don't know about you but for me, it means a good read.

P.S.: i'm a sucker for children in books, and Blaze!!! So adorable!(less)

However, their lives soon reconnect when circumstances force Ashton to seek out Luca's help. Her so-called best friend Kance has turned everyone against her (including stealing the boy that Ashton has had a crush on for years) and now Ashton finds herself at the bottom of the popularity rung once more. Determined to gain back her status, Ashton realises she could use Luca to propel her back into the limelight again (after he has an image change it is apparent that Luca is really super hot).

Luca's motives are slightly different. He cannot stand the way Ashton now acts and is at first determined to take her down a peg or two. However, he cannot forget the girl she used to be, the one who was his best friend in the whole world. He becomes determined to peel back the layers to see if his childhood friend still exists behind the snotty, superior mean girl. Sparks soon fly and it is evident that they are both really attracted to each other but will they be able to overcome the obstacle set in their path?

I enjoyed this novel but I did find Ashton a bit hard to like at first though she did mellow out later on. I find I cannot really take to characters who bully others and Ashton is a bully. She does change her ways and later apologises to the girl who she was picking on earlier in the book, but I never really got the impression that she was all that sorry for how she acted. Luca on the other hand I really loved and I enjoyed the chapters from his perspective much more than Ashton's point of view. Hidden behind the 'bad boy' getup was a really sweet and stand-up guy with a good heart. He sees the best in Ashton and really helps to break her out of the shallow mold that she has been caught up in. I also liked his group of friends, particularly Eddie, and wished they had gotten a bit more spotlight.

Despite my misgivings about Ashton, I really did like the story. I couldn't help but notice the similarities between this and the film 'Drive Me Crazy' but the author Komal Lewis has stated that the movie was the inspiration for this book so that would explain it. Overall, an entertaining, quick read.
