Deathscape was one terrific book! Artist Ashley Price had debilitating headaches from a near death experience which cause her to paint the scenes of random people's violent deaths. Detective Jack Sullivan has been buried alive on her property, and she is able to save him before he dies. Jack is certain that Ashley is in cahoots with the serial killer, but is unprepared for the tender feelings he can't help but feel toward her. As Jack tries to find the killer who has consumed his life, Ashley is...more

I have three words for this book: spine-chilling, macabre and unputdownable.
The thing is that I don't read paranormals. I've never felt the urge to read one mostly due to my inability to suspend disbelief, therefore I was surprised when after reading the blurb I couldn't wait to read Deathscape, a romantic suspense novel with paranormal elements.
Hands down one of the very best suspense books in a very long time. Despite the chills that went down my spine, I literally couldn't put it down.

“Deathscape” by Dana Marton is the mesmerizing paranormal romantic suspense tale featuring an artist named Ashley Price who is recovering from a tragic accident that resulted in her developing agoraphobia and losing custody of her beloved young daughter. Her talent has also been affected and there is the frightening side effect that she is sporadically compelled to paint very disturbing pictures, but she never expects to become drawn into an open investigation of a serial killer. This book was amazing. I have to be honest here. The first couple of pages kept me wondering what exactly was going on. But as soon as the 2 main characters cross paths everything comes together. When a book keeps me turning the pages and not wanting to put it down, it instantly becomes one of my favorites, and this one did just that. I couldn't pu it down until I found out who the killer was, and it kept me guessing until the very end. :)

Great suspense book with a touch of paranormal and a dash of romance.
Detective Jack Sullivan has been looking for a serial killer for years since he killed his sister. The killer has now set him up when he thinks Jack getting to close and captures him.
Three days later Ashley Price, who is an artist who is struggling with depression over something tragic that happened which resulted in her father keeping her daughter, has a horrible vision that she paints as she's having it. When the vision has...more

This was an exciting suspense story, with a wonderfully dark, tortured hero and an unusual heroine who ended up being perfect for each other--even though he suspects her of being connected to the man who tried to murder him at the beginning of the story. I especially loved how he interacted with the heroine's daughter. Even with all the darkness inside him (well-motivated darkness, btw), there was still enough good guy in him that he never let it touch the little girl. Loved the dramatic, climac...more
Loved the creepy spinetingling beginning. Also that the dude was the guy in trouble and need of rescue - I always like a book that does the opposite of the tried and true. Both characters came thuogh as realistic to me, and the paranormal part of the story was intriguing (often I find paranormal stopries annoying) It's interesting that some reviewers had a hard time warming to Jack when I felt he was pretty logical to doubt Ashley and even suspect her. Given her odd story and caginess, I thought...more
Very good. The beginning was very interesting and immediately grabbed my attention. Ashley’s visions play a great part in the story. I loved how Jack started out being suspicious of Ashley yet couldn’t stop himself from wanting her. I was completely wrong about the identity of the villain. Usually I am able to figure out who it is and I thought I was absolutely correct which I wasn’t at the end. I felt it could have been a little shorter. It starts out with a lengthy description of the surroundi...more
Dana Marton's latest indie offering is a terrific romantic suspense, deftly balancing a satisfying romance with a twisty, engaging mystery. The book starts in the middle of impending chaos and the tension never really lets up from there.
I loved the characters, not just the main duo but also the supporting characters, who were vivid in their own rights. Particularly satisfying was the way that Marton defied expectations with characters who might have, in less able hands, come off as caricatures...more

After reading Dana Marton’s Agents Under Fire, I was in still in a Dana Marton kind of mood. Good news for me was that Deathscape was loaded and ready for me to read. It has been a while since I have read a thriller of this caliber, so it was nice being able to dive in and become engrossed in the plot that kept me guessing.
Jack’s obsession with the serial killer has completely skewed his mind; it seems to be the only thing he can think about. This adds a nice little twist to the story. He sees A...more

I’m glad that I took a risk buying this book. I had my reservations since the first book I read from this author was good, had a lot of promise but turned out to be 50 pages long so everything was wrapped up before the plot got really interesting.
Now Deathscape is a book, not a novella. The plot had me guessing about the possibilities, loved the neck breaking pace, enjoy that Ashley simply didn’t let herself down and did everything she could to overcome her traumatic experience and not loosing...more

Strongest point for me with this book was the deft handling of the paranormal element. Seems so many authors are on this trend right now and think more is better, to the extent that everyone involved has some kind of paranormal ability. In this case, an accident leaves an artist with emotional issues and a link that leads her to see ... and paint ... victims who have died.
Otherwise the plot is somewhat predictable, though the characterization is quite good. For me, more police procedural and les...more

Thank you Goodreads for my autographed copy of Deathscape.
This was my first Dana Marton book that I have read. I will say I was a little skeptical in the beginning of the story, but that soon changed and I could not put it down. I finished it in two days.
You have an idea of where the story is going, but then some twists and turns get thrown in there. I would recommend this book to any of my friends. It was fun and easy to read. Now I cannot wait to read Captain Bing's story.

A $0.99 thriller from the Kindle store. It was pretty good. Not great, but good. The main shortcoming, in my opinion, is that the main character had almost psychic powers, and the narrator/main character kept mentioning how unlikely/unbelievable those psychic powers were, but they were never explained. It's odd when both the narrator and the reader think that something is hard to explain, and then the author doesn't go to the trouble of explaining it. Also, there was a slight romance angle, whic...more
Okay, I LOVE romantic suspense and this book does not disappoint.
Ashley Price is a talented artist who is battling with a variety of emotional disorders. The trigger was an accident in which she and two children fell through the ice. Ashley saved her daughter but was unable to save the neighbor’s son. Unwilling to give up, she kept trying to save him until she succumbed to the ice water and was clinically dead for twenty minutes. She was successfully revived, however she is dealing with grief, d...more

Deathscape is at this point my favorite work by Dana Marton! I love a good mystery suspense, and unlike so many where a romance is tossed in for good measure – this one lacks a cheesiness that I find so annoying!
Ashley should be dead. Unlike the neighbor boy who was with her and her daughter, Ashley was brought back by the paramedics after falling through the ice at the reservoir. Since that night, the artist has ‘episodes’ where all she can do to get rid of the crippling migraine is paint – and...more

A great suspense novel that had you rooting for Jack to get his obsessive cop butt into gear and find the serial killer so he can finally be with the girl. It kept me guessing until the very end who the killer was, which in itself is hard to do. The characters were beyond likeable and the story was relatable in the sense that death brings about many reactions and all of the characters involved dealt with death in different ways; avoiding reality, obsessing, dominating, or creating more death.
This was a well written suspense novel with interesting characters and a great who-done-it ending. Ashley's character was a bit annoying at first, but as her relationship with Jack developed, she grew on me. The romance takes second stage to the suspense aspect of this tale, which is not a criticism of the book, but if you're looking for a romance this book may or may not meet your expectations.
This is one of the best books I've read in awhile! I admired Ashley for not giving up. She pulled though her fears to be the mother, her daughter needed her to be. I liked the way you tied her visions to the guilt. I also was thankful Jack made the right choice in the end. I was glad both Ashley and Jack worked everything out in the end. Good book. I look forward to reading more from you!

Absolutely one of the best books I have read in a really long time. The story truly keeps you intrigued hanging on every small clue to the identity of the killer and the characters are interesting enough that you cant wait to learn more about them and see if they manage to overcome the baggage and come together. Thank you for a great read. Cant wait for the next book about Capt Bing!
This was a good read! Suspense, mystery, romance, and a tad of testosterone just to keep them honest. The hero is a real hero, complete with all his flaws. And the damsel is a real babe, complete with all of her flaws. But put them together and sparks fly. Well written, well carried. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author; fortunately, their waiting in my library.
Loved the fast pace, the edge of your seat suspense. Loved the hero and how the heroine has so much to overcome but she does it and comes back stronger. I've read some other reviews that give the plot outline, so I'll just say, yes, there's a touch of paranormal. And the end has a couple scenes of gratuitous sex. Whatever. The juicy, scary parts make up for it.
I've read Dana Marton's Harlequin Intrigue books and always enjoyed them. This book was a little different, but still combines mystery, suspense, and romance. It reminded me a bit of Linda Howard's Now You See Her. A tortured artist who paints crime scenes she's never seen becomes involved with a cop hot on the trail of a serial killer. What's not to love?

I really loved your book. It had all that I like to read about in it. The hero was rough but loving and the heroine was beautiful and smart. It had a touch of paranormal in it to. The ending is how I like it with the two getting together and staying that way. I always love a happy ending.

A great book, and must read! It challenges you and I can tell you that the two protagonists frustrate the hell out of you but that just adds to the terrific story. This book has everything that rivets the reader to begin reading it and then not being able to put it down!! I love Dana Marton's books and once again she has brought quality to the table!!
If you like crime drama, or psychological drama, or both rolled into one, this is the book to read.
I got pulled in by the end of the third page and couldn't stop until I knew who the killer was. I even guessed wrong on the identity of the killer and psyched myself out.
I just ordered the next in the series.

This was ok. I liked the premise but it really didn't go anywhere. A similar book by Linda Howard, Now You See Her was much better, imo.
