HEART OF STONE

For centuries, Malcolm has struggled against the forces of darkness—and bears the scars to prove it. Hardened by a lifetime of fighting, he is more warrior than man, incapable of feeling love or compassion. But one stormy night, he pulls a beautiful woman from a car wreck—and experiences a rush of fiery emotion that could melt even the hardest of hearts.

WOW, just WOW!!! Donna Grant has done it again and although I am sad this amazing series has come to an end, with the exception on the holiday novella, I don't feel there was much more Donna could have done to make Midnight's Promise any better. Malcolm is a highlander in every sense of the word. I fell in love with Malcolm the first time we met him in Forbidden Highlander. Yes, it has been a love-hate relationship, but I always knew Malcolm would find his destiny and what he truly deserved in l...more

midnights-promise-donna-grant-dark-warriorAfter all the terrible and evil things Malcolm Munro has had to do in his life, and the pain he has experienced, he feels that he has lost his humanity and is completely dead inside. He’s been distancing himself from the residents of MacLeod Castle little by little and even from his beloved cousin, Larena, even though she needs him now more than ever as she tries to fight the eff...more

My thanks to the publisher for giving me an ARC of this book to review.

Donna Grant gives the readers a thrilling ending to her stellar Dark Warrior's series. The author did an outstanding job on this book, making it a story to remember. For this reader .... it was a stunning tale about the healing power of love.

Malcolm is the most volatile and unpredictable Warrior. He is riding the edge. Consumed by bitterness, anger and grief. He's done some things that are hard to live with. As this book ope...more

3.5 stars. Good ending to the series and I've been waiting for Malcolm's story to see how this tortured soul gets a HEA. I don't think this is a spoiler, but more a general comment that the plot devices to lie, characters concealing information and running away from problems and trying to solve said problems on one's own only to end up in deeper sh*te...has grown tiresome for me. If "some" characters would actually have a three sentence conversation about their issues, they wouldn't get themselv...more

If htere was an option I'd have given it 10 stars... This book was an fitting ending to the series. Hats off Donna Grant... As far as I can remember no story had me sitting on the edge, anxious to know the next twist of the story. Beautifully written :)
I did want to slap Evie for not trusting Malcolm and going on to make a bigger mess.

This is my opinion of the Whole Series. Over all I loved this series. There were times when I got so frustrated with both the Druids and the Warriors but made me read it all the more to make sure everything worked out even though I knew it would. I fell in love with all the character and now want to move to Scotland, lol. I love being able to read about some of the places they went as I have visited Scotland in those same places and could picture what it looked like. I loved how each book was it...more

A Great end to a fantastic series! Donna sure knows what we as readers want! It all wrapped up nicely. I was grinning and crying at the same time. It's sad to see a series come to an end but I know we haven't seen the last of the warriors and the druids who complete them. I do hope we see them appear in the Dragon King Series!
Malcolm is cold and emotionless. He believes there is no hope of saving his soul. He has done many bad things all in the hopes of protecting his family. How can they ever f...more

Donna Grant takes a different approach in the eighth book of the Dark Warriors series. Malcolm is a dark character, one who is angst ridden and burdened with this guilt that weighs him down. As he distances himself from the people who care about him, readers form an emotional attachment to this wounded warrior. It isn’t until he saves a woman from a car crash that he feels something stirring within him once again.

Evie is a descendant of druids so she has the ability to be the vessel in...more

Malcolm has lived with guilt longer than he cares to remember. He knows that it is something he will never be rid of. He has distanced himself from all of those that could ever love him. His guilt makes him believe that they hate him as much as he hates himself. Accustomed to a life of solitude he does not know what to do when he finds Evie.

Running from an unknown foe and believing she is the last of her kind Evie is shocked to find a man who knows exactly what she is. Her excitement over not be...more

Donna Grant brings her celebrated Dark Warriors Series to an end and it's hard for me to say goodbye. This series spanned four centuries and combined two separate series, Dark Shield and Dark Warriors. We saw each warrior fall for the druid (now) that completed him. And finally it's Malcolm' s turn.

Evangeline Walker grew up thinking she was the last druid standing. Left with an ancient necklace and a strong curiosity she does the unthinkable and posts a picture of her heritage on the Internet.....more

A beautiful & heart-tugging read from Donna Grant filled with romance, magic, and suspense

I kind of had a crush on the bad boy warrior, Malcolm, Deirdre's former warrior designate and ultimate betrayer, from the very first time he appeared in the books. What's not to crush on? An alpha hero who is scarred and has a very sensitive interior life that he shields from view. I was so glad as he was rehabilitated over time in the books, but uneasy as to his future course at the end of book seven....more

Midnight's Promise, Malcom's story, the one I've been waiting for. Malcom, he became my favorite warrior once introduced into this series long ago...lol. Wait, he didn't start out as a warrior. Guess you are going to have to start from the "vera" beginning to learn how Malcom evolved into becoming a warrior. Treachery, evil abound, murder, self loathing and redemption. Loved his character, loved how Donna wrote how wounded he was that just makes you want to wrap him tightly into a blanket of war...more

I received a copy of Midnight's Promise from the publisher free in exchange for an honest review. This is the 8th book in Donna Grant's Dark Warrior series, and if I'm not mistaken the last book. Believe it or not I actually have all but one of the previous books in this series yet I have not read any of them and started the series with this one. Yep. Starting at the end. Usually this would annoy me to no end and I would beat myself up about it for weeks, however this book was too addicting to e...more

Midnight Promise was a fantastic read. I can truthfully say the entire series has been a tremendous delight to read and I have always rated each book as deserving more than 5 stars and then would feel that it was my favorite. Donna Grant’s writing style has left an indelible impression so as I think back I have wonderful memories of each Warrior’s individual story, the battles as they fought evil, first Dederia, then Declan and now Jason and how each were able to find their happiness. The story...more

"Midnight's Promise" by Donna Grant. Book 8 in the Dark Warriors series. **End of the series.**

NOTE: One novella (in eBook format) "Midnight's Surrender" is after this as a bonus story for fans.

I'm so happy with this final book in the series! Malcolm and Evie's story! Throughout the series we have seen what has happened to Malcolm along the way. Now he finally gets his happily ever after but with a whole bunch of bumps along the way. He and Evie handle those bumps spectacularly.

Malcolm is broken...more

It's clear to me that Donna Grant knew while she was writing this and Midnight's Temptation that she knew they were going to be the last Dark Sword/Dark Warrior books. There's a real sense of closure on the plans for the men over whether they will choose to bind their gods or not.

And this book finally after 14 books gives us a permanent solution to the immortal Warriors, mortal druids problem. It's not the greatest because it comes from the dragons and not what I'd hope a magical spell binding t...more

Fantastic Series

Donna Grant is the best there is when it comes to writing the perfect series. I love the way her stories just roll along keeping you interested, on the edge of your seat and never ready to put the book down until you find out what is coming next. Congrats Donna on another great series.

No wonder I spent most of this book in a state of confusion. I started with the most recent book in the series! Grant’s story flows effortlessly and immediately draws the reader into a fresh new take on paranormal romance. I only wish I’d had a chance to start at the beginning and see the characters grow, rather than come in at the end.

The perfect ending

Donna Grant beautifully ties up her Dark Warriors series with Malcom's story. A long awaited, and more than deserved,c happy ending. Grant also includes a comprehensive epilogue for the whole series which is very delightful and gives a satisfying end to everyone's stories.

oh how sad the story ends. This has to be one of my fav series and was a magical end with Malcom's story..ever since beginning when he was first attacked Ive routed for him, and so glad he got his HEA.

The twists and turns were excellently written as always. The epilogue was just an awesome ending to this excellent series.. highly recommend to all my friends.

sighs least we have the magical dragons next I really hope some of the warriors appear so going to miss them!

Oh Man this story was so great i don't know what all to say. Honestly there are no words. Malcolm finally meets his mate and they work together to beat the ultimate evil, thwarting a doomsday prophecy, and protecting the world, all while finding love, family, ad friendships. And i must say that the last 5 pages were the best I've ever read. So sad to see the series end but so happy that all the Warriors got their HEA.

This was quite a satisfying ending to one of my absolute favorite paranormal fantasy series. I loved that we finally got a book from Malcolm's point of view!

I foresee many rereads of this series in the future and I can't wait to start the Dark Kings series now! This book was a great setup for that!

Note: This is a romance novel so there are sexy times throughout the whole book.

HOLY WHOAH!!!! 5 Absolutely AMAZING STARS to this one!!!

So enjoyable, loved the continutation and semi-final completion of this!!! All the Warriors found their happy ending with their respective wives!

Although from how the DK books were developing and how this actually ended, I can't wait to see how the story progresses and the return of all the characters!
Carolyn
I LOVED this series and just hated to see it end. Now that I have all the books in this fantastic series, I will definitely be re-reading them, back-to-back, to enjoy them all the more. ;)

Hopefully, we will visit with all the warriors and the druids in the Dragon Kings' series - now that they are allies! I DO like those Dragon Kings!

I loved it and am sadden that the story is now over. But it was one of the great stories I have read in a while. I will be adding both series to my collection asap. I will reread it over again. I loved the characters and the storyline. It really hooked me big time. Great series Donna Grant!

Other than starting out slow, once it picked up, I started enjoying the Malcolm story. I was not going to give up on this Malcolm story because I he was the most interest characters of the series. It lived up to my expectations. Love is all I have to say that sums up this chapter.

The end of this series.... This is very amazing story..... Double thump up!!!!

My rating is 4.5/5 stars. Ms. Grant has ended the series with happy endings for everyone. I am so glad about it, but I am left craving for more of Aiden and Britt. Maybe the author has something in store for the couple in the near future, or not.

I have read every book Donna grant has written. I love the fact that each series are interlocked and look forward to reading mo re books that will come. I highly recommend you read each book and series to follow this ongoing story.

Love Malcolm and Evie's story. His story is one that I have been anxiously waiting for and I certainly was not disappointed. I hate that the series is over, I love all of the characters and Donna Grant is an awesome story teller. D
