Linda Austin’s book of heart-wrenching poems was inspired by caring for her mother in the late stages of Alzheimer’s as she visited her in the nursing home. She captures the essence of heartbreak, bittersweet love and progressive loss that the Alzheimer’s condition creates for families.
Her poems are in haiku and deliver powerful messages with brevity and simplicity. I found myself transported into the nursing home with her as she interacts with her mother and other residents. Her poems evoke the

I won this book through a random drawing from a fellow blogger. My mother, like the author's mother, is suffering from Alzheimer's and let me tell you--that insidious disease really packs a punch! I was hoping to read some transportive poetry from Linda Austin that would enlighten me about the progression of the stages.
