An early thru-hikers memoir. Not terribly well organized, one day just blended into the next until you weren't sure how many or which days he was talking about. He did mention some things that I had not found in other later memoirs, such as snakes. This this mean that there are less snakes on the trail in recent years, and if so, why? Have they been scared away by the greater number of hikers, or are they disappearing? Something to think about.
