I love the Coffeehouse Mystery series by Cleo Coyle! I love Claire, Joy, Matteo and Mike. In the latest installment, Joy is doing her internship at Solange a hip NY restaurant owned by her very married boyfriend Tommy Keitel. Of course, Claire does not approve of the relationship, but Joy is a grown woman and has to make her own mistakes. However, Claire can't help but want to keep an eye on Joy and Tommy and comes up with the idea of offering to do coffee pairings for the restaurant, since ...more

Book 6 in the coffeehouse mysteries. Another great addition to this series. Funny things are happening at Solange, a restaurant where Clare's daughter Joy is doing her internship. The head chef if hardly ever around, several of the employees have very hot, threatening tempers and 2 murders take place back to back. The biggest problem is Joy is the prime suspect! Clare jumps right in to clear her daughter's name and help solve the case. It was nice to base this book in a different atmosphere and ...more

I love.. love ... love this series of books. Cleo Coyle does a great job of writing a great mystery. Anything related to coffee is a great book. This book is a quick mystery read but it's also got some other interesting stories along with that. There's a little love story between Clare, the main character, and a cop. There's also the bit of tension between Clare and he ex-husband. I would strongly suggest this book to anyone. Good, fun read.. with great recipes and coffee tips too.

This was a pretty quick read. It's another of Coyle's coffee house mysteries, which are okay. I mostly read these for the back story that's running throughout the series, and I do like the characters.
It's not deep, and I pretty much knew part of the solution. Coyle did throw in some last minute clues so that the reader got the full solution right around the same time that Claire did. However, it was an enjoyable read.

I think this was the best in the series yet. Clare is moving along so well. She isn't stagnating like some main characters in cozy mysteries. She's becoming a stronger women and she's sticking with one man. And that relationship is going forward.
The mystery itself was hard to solve because you really don't know all what's going on till the end. I think this did make Clare and Joy closer though.

I'm reading these out of order, but I'm guessing it doesn't really matter. The Coffeehouse Mysteries are read-in-a-day cozies, complete with recipes in the back and a heroine who's conveniently dating a police detective. I suspect I will read the whole series, because I'm loyal to characters that way, but if I don't get to all of them, I won't be broken-hearted or feel like I'm missing out.

While I enjoy the coffeehouse mysteries, they are beginning to become formulaic and repetitive. The problems are the same. The motives are the same. The characters have not developed nearly enough over five or six books. I'm just a little disappointed.

Yet another series in which I am growing quite fond of the characters. Another woman torn between two men. My only complaint is her b*%$h daughter. I'm tired of her!

As always, a fun author to read. I'm in no way a coffee afficionado, but I am addicted to it..and great recipes, too!
