"The woods were thick with trees. Deer wandered. Damp leaves rotted. Fungus and beetles vied for domination. The stench of something decaying was in the air"."
A delightful read for horror/ psychological thriller aficionados who want their dark appetites sated. The first few lines of H. Raven Rose's Dark Eros immediately sets a sense of anticipation that bad things happens in the dark whether we like it or not.

H, Raven Rose's DARK EROS is a study in contrasts: Two relatively naive young women-- one overweight, one thin, one sexually experimental, one monogamous-- containing brutal passages of graphic descriptions of murder interwoven with brilliant spiritual passages of light and hope. The novel also contains intimate explorations of the two young woman's relationship exposing their natural humor as it also explores the almost sadist-masochistic relationship of the lead character'r relationship with h...more
I read "Dark Eros" straight through in one sitting; I couldn't put it down. It's very well written, with a compelling heroine struggling to escape a horrible relationship and get her life on track against terrible odds.
The book is terrifying, touching and uplifting by turns, and it's also got a couple of big surprises that I wasn't expecting. There are some very rough moments; the author does not shy away from showing the terrifying actions of her villain, or using the appropriate language to de...more

Dark but Riveting
This is the first piece I'v read from Raven Rose and I found it to be
a dark but riveting read.
The plotting and pacing are spot-on. The characters are well rounded and people you can identify with; Leila throws out her noodles before she is tempted
to eat them - I've done that too.
Shannon is a good friend, yet she can be bitchy at times - I know a few Shannons.
Kevin is a total, believable jerk who abuses the soft and gentle Leila - who doesn't know a Kevin?
I like the fact that the...more

A riveting and exciting thriller, I found difficult to put down once I started. Rose effectively delivers a suspenseful tale that will have you gripping for more from the very beginning. While I felt that at times the author either rushed through certain details or added in needless backstory, H. Raven Rose held no bars back when she describes the gruesome details of the murders and the sinister mind of a psychopathic murderer. I absolutely loved it and I look forward to more tales from H.Raven...more
Was surpised at how much I enjoyed this book. A first I thought it was a bit too similar to James Paterson's 'kiss the girls' but once I got into to it I found Dark Eros to be a great read.
I found the descriptions of small town america very effective and detailed, almost Steven King like. Some might find the graphic nature of the material a little too much but personally I found it fitted the tone of the book perfectly. I'm looking forward to what else the author has to say.

“Leila dreamt that her Soul was on fire. It was not a nightmare. Shannon was in the dream. Shannon was telling her to wake up. She woke up, burning as if she had a fever, nearly soaking wet with sweat. Kevin was asleep beside her.”
