3.5 stars. Enjoyable friends-to-lovers romance. This book is set over many years and follows Andrew and Caleb from childhood to adulthood and their enduring relationship over time. Each chapter is a vignette from one year to the next. Unfortunately there was too much sex (the guys are friends-with-benefits) and not enough plot for me to really fall in love with it. And the two men don't realize their attraction till the very end. They had barely acknowledged their love when the book suddenly sto...more
A captivating love story of everlasting loyalty, friendship and love.
This is the much anticipated story of Andrew and Caleb. They met when they were 8-years old and rekindled their friendship during a summer at the age of 14. From this moment on they are each others confidants and best friends - his yin to his yang. They were as different as could be, but regardless of that or because of it, the bond that they forged was unbreakable.
Their bond was strengthened throughout the years. It started wi...more

cute, light contemporary
great characters, each mc is well developed.....
lots and lots of sex...friends with benefits.....but they dont realize for 20 years they are perfect for each other and already in love? That part dragged a bit at the end. Then, when they actually got together, the book was over about 4 paragraphs later?

Take two guys who have been best friends since early teens, then become sexually involved with each other in a casual way when both come out a few years later. Follow their story over a period of 20 years - covering family upsets, bad boyfriend choices and lifes general ups and downs, add to the mix some pretty hot love scenes a touch of humour and two endearing protags and overall you get a very readable and enjoyable romance.

this was a nice little m/m romance story. My only complaint is that there didn't seem to be any reason for them not to be together, considering that between boyfriends, they were really together and clearly each other's soul mates almost from the very beginning. Especially at the beginning, there was no real reason for them not to get involved after that first time -- was it the long distance thing? it was never really clear why they couldn't even consider it as young men. I would also have expe...more
The end is really anti-climatic. I was holding my breath for that BIG O MOMENT and HEART WRENCHING REALIZATION but when it did, I was like ,"That's it?" Don't get me wrong, I got the characters and I get Drew. He was so bent on not being like his father and continued to look for the right permanent person in his life but he can't see him when he's right in front of him. I mean yes, Drew and Caleb when they started are young and maybe at the back of their minds, they don't want to commit lest the...more
I have been waiting for this story ever since I met Caleb and Andrew in the other books. While it wasn't my favorite book in the series, it was definitely the nice heartwarming read that I've come to expect from this author.

Positively phenomenal! A unique spin on the friends to lover theme with an amazing relationship based story.
Andrew Thompson and Caleb Lakes meet and become the best of friends while young teenagers. The story takes us through the next 20 years of their lives as they maintain their status as best friends with benefits. The question is whether or not they can ever move past this point.

A beautiful story with amazing characters..….definitely one of my favorites.
Caleb and Andrew mothers are sorority sisters. They meet as adolescents and become best friends. Their friendship leads to sexual experimentation and that in turn leads to years of a friendship "with benefits". As they say "familiarity breeds contempt" and neither Caleb and Andrew fully appreciate how deep their love for one another has grown over the years. So they continue to look for "true love" outside of their frien...more

I finished this book, but reluctantly. It starts off a bit slow, then surprisingly gets crazy erotic/sexual (if you like reading about rough oral sex, then this is probably a good book for you...) then it slows down a ton. This book is basically just a waiting game... The prologue shows us that these characters will in fact end up together, so it's just a waiting game to the end of the book to see the characters have the super obvious realization of: "Oh yeah, we are best friends with amazing ch...more
I just finished reading the book and well, I was not won over by the plot: Why was there a conflict? Why was the conflict solved? What really changed between Before the conflict resolution and After?
I soooo didn't understand the WHYS of the characters actions that I couldn't connect to them. There was soooo much sex filling the pages, so many repetitive plot elements. The cover arts looks fantastic and I feel like I can just stare at it all day and never get bored of it. As for the story, it wasn't exactly what I expected for Andrew and Caleb's story but from the previous books there was no indication from Love at First Sight or Just What the Truth Is that Andrew and Caleb would be a featured couple. I'm very happy with the story and how it turned out. It was an adventure, learning and seeing how Caleb and Andrew's relationship went from best friends to ex...more
4.5 Stars.
This book was by turns amazing and heart breaking to read. The thing this author does absolutely AMAZINGLY well is character development. Its fair to say I'm a little biased about CC because, I'm not sure there is a thing this author has written that I haven't adored.
This story was vivid, real, funny, sad, bittersweet, and a thousand other different emotions.

This book had all the elements for a great story but in the end it didn't deliver. I love the author's writing. I especially love Where He Ends and I Begin. My problem with TOWSM was that the book lost track of plot. The beginning was great and I initially enjoyed the first few chapters setting up the main characters relationship but eventually it just turned to chapter after chapter of sex. It wasn't until 70% of the way through the book that the plot got back on track.

I still have that happy feeling inside, the same every Cardeno C.book leaves me with.
First, I´m going to comment on the first thing that caught my attention to this author, her book covers. And especially this one, I think it´s absolutely gorgeous, and it also portraits the characters just like I picture them in my mind while reading.
I guess, the one thing I love the most about the book is the same that most of the people dislike about it...the format, and the way the story was told.

Last evening I finished reading the latest book in Cardeno C. Author Home Series - The One Who Saves Me. While the m/m genre is not for everyone, this book had another underlying theme that touched me. A great man once spoke that we should be judged by the content of our character, not the color of our skin. Well to paraphrase I wish to be judged by the content of my character, NOT THE COLOR ON MY SKIN. One of the main characters in the book was a brilliant neurosurgeon, but because of piercings...more
This story follows Caleb and Andrew from their early childhood over a period of about 20 years. They are very close friends and are each others 'firsts' (and in some cases 'only's') in everything. They support each other through life's ups and downs, with a lot of the story covering their failed relationships (and in between friends-with-benefits sex) as they look to find love.
It is fairly obvious from the start that they should be looking towards each other. Their own statements back this up....more

The blurb sums it up well and others have written great reviews for this story, so I will try to keep this short and sweet.
Caleb and Andrew have been friends since they were 14, the weeks in the summer they spent together was the highlight of their year. A steady and devoted friendship that spans 20 years develops, through everything they are each others touchstone, no matter what life throws at them, they love each other unconditionally and have such a great, deep and abiding friendship and un...more

I generally like this author's work but I didn't love this book. I have to agree with Edina Rose's review. The "plot" (I use that term lightly) was big on sex and small on story line. It almost felt to me like the author simply ran out of ideas for this book as there was little interesting about the characters or the storyline. Of course, this book wasn't all bad. If you're in the mood for scorching hot sex and lots if it then this is a great read for you.
For whatever reason, this was my least favorite. I thought the whole three years between Andrew and his last love (who was a complete loser), started to really get on my nerves! I wanted to choke him. I do love Caleb. I did love the build of their friendship. But I wanted to shake Andrew or Bert and Ernie... Still will not make me stop reading this series or this author. The story is good, writing was great, characters just got on my nerves...
Cardeno C has done it again. Great writing and awesome continuation of the Home Series. I really liked the pace of this story and the relationship between the characters. There were a couple of times I wanted to smack them upside the head and tell them to see what was in front if them, but I feel that the relationship wouldn't have worked because they weren't at the point they were both ready to see it. Great book.
This was a quick but enjoyable read. I liked seeing so many of the characters from other "Home" books making small appearances in this book and the two main characters were very likable.
While I loved the ending, the only thing that knocked this book down from five stars to four and a half was that the ending seemed a bit abrupt, I'd have loved a little more of a peek into what happened next.

I really liked this one just as I have all of the books in the series (or really any book that Cardeno has written) however, as someone else has already said, I would have liked to have seen more about their relationship after they realized how they felt about each other.
This was not one of my favorites of the series or of his books in general but you can't really go wrong with any of of the books by Cardeno C. This is the first time I have felt like one of his books wasn't a full 5 stars but th...more

Really liked this installment of the Home series. It's a little different from the others. I hesitate to put the books in the series into a ranked list, but this one feels, well, a little more mature. Nicely written, composed with more subtly than a reader might initially recognize, and with a complex characters who aren't completely who they seem.
"We’re just getting to the good part.”

... and then I screamed "Oh my God CC, I f**k**g hate you!", had a cigarette muttering, "I will never forgive you for this....", went to find bandages for my bleeding head wound (from banging on hard surfaces.
You may ask why the histrionics, but I swear, the last words in this book are "We're just getting to the good part."

I really enjoyed this book, I loved Caleb and Andrew. Someone described them as friends with benefits but they were so much more because they truly were friends and invested in one anothers lives and cared for each other. I can't describe how much I liked these guys but they were great. This is my favorite in series so far.
This wasn't the story I wanted for Andrew, or for Caleb, based on previous books. But it was a fabulous story that I never would have imagined, so I am content. Yes...this story is sweet, a little frustrating, and I'm going to go back and re-red all the others to re-create the Emile CIty time line in my head. Okay- I'm going to go re-read all the others because I ENJOY the sense of contentment a Cardeno C books leaves me with....it's better than a tryptophan induced turkey coma...

Cardeno C. is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a little happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno often feels that characters write their own stories and just hopes to find enough time to get those stories on the page. And Cardeno loves to hear from readers so please drop...more
