When it comes to his professional life, photographer Carl Conrad is at the top of his game. He molds impressionable minds at the university by day and jets off to Paris for gallery showings on long weekends. This is very much a personal rating rather than an attempt to gauge objective quality; I found the main character/narrator's voice too overwhelmingly idiosyncratic for my taste where someone else might love him. Ultimately I couldn't finish it, which is a 2 rating from me. Check the sample and see how you like the MC's voice before purchasing.

One of the things I really love about Ms. Garcia’s books is the distinctive, almost lyrical tone her writing and characters have. There is truly something special about her novels that always keep my attention and eventually make me fall for her unique and sexy heroes.

The blurb does a great job at describing the book, so I won’t rehash a lot of it. Carl is a professor who teaches photography at a local college. He takes pride in his work and is a successful

The narrator Carl reminded me of something from an old Woody Allen movie, neurotic, quirky and funny in a weird way. There was times I wanted to tell him to shut up. The real main character is Marcelino Moya, a too good to be true sexy student who, as the story progresses, turns out not to be too good to be true, which I liked. He's the reason I give this five stars. Discovering his quirks, problems and fears made this a good read.

The two men worked well together. By the end I really did believe

The lead character Carl is such an immature himbo. Whereas I loved Elf for all Century's Fabion. Carl just annoyed me. the narrative was also a rambling mess of adjective overuse. This just did not do it for me. Marcelino and Carl were a sweet enough pair but reading the whole thing just made me dizzy.

Thirty years ago, I started writing m/m romance. My writing remained a secret lest my friends thought me a freak. Writing about men inserting tab A into slot B didn’t seem the norm for a female teenager. Reading Gordon Merrick, John Rechy and Larry Kramer helped me fill in informational gaps. Yes, I read these books in my bedroom.

As the years progressed and I discovered my sexual path, I still wro
