Les Ethiopiques, ou histoire de Théagène et Chariclée est un roman écrit en grec au quatrième siècle par Héliodore d'Emèse, aujourd'hui Homs en Syrie. Il relate les tribulations d'une jeune fille d'une beauté remarquable, princesse abandonnée à sa naissance, avec les marques de son origine royale, et élevée en Grèce., et d'un jeune homme, bien sûr incroyablement beau, courageux, paré de toutes les vertus, et nos deux héros sont amoureux

Heliodorus of Emesa, from Emesa, Syria, was a Greek writer generally dated to the third century AD who is known for the ancient Greek novel or romance called the Aethiopica (the Ethiopian Story) or sometimes "Theagenes and Chariclea".
