Alright. Let me just go on ahead and make a couple things perfectly clear.
1) Jenn Cooksey is an absolute writing genius.
2) As much as I loved Shark Bait (believe me, it's a hardcore love), I can say with complete assurance that I loved The Other Fish in the Sea even more.
To be honest, this is one of the most difficult reviews I've written. I have so much to say, but I am terrified of spoiling both books one and two. And honestly, I've been over this with Autumn at Autumn Review multiple times...more

Words cannot express my love for this series. Last year, the Grab Your Pole Series became one of my top all-time favorite series EVER. It's really hard to write reviews for this series though, because these are the kind of books that you really need to experience. You need to feel them. So, I'll do my best to give a spoiler free review by sharing with you how I felt about The Other Fish in the Sea.

1.Fluent in sarcasm
2. Constant innuendos
Shark Bait
Titanic

3. Camie
Totally endearing

I give you Tristan and Camie...

I read Shark Bait last year and I was addicted. Ya at its finest. I absolutely love Jenn Cooksey’s writing, and her characters are the BEST! You will laugh, cry, and laugh so hard you cry! Right now I am too shocked and flabbergasted to write a proper review so here you go...
Some of the highlights:

This series is fantastic!! I loved that this book had chapters from Jilly, Melissa, and Katy's POV. I normally like the POV changes labeled with a chapter header but I didn't even mind that these chapters were a surprise and you had to figure it out. I liked the mystery and they were easily identifiable.
Even tho Cammie and Tristan are the main characters you become just as involved with the other characters. Jeff and Kate are adorable and I'm dying to see how they handle things in the next book...more

Jenn Cooksey, I hate you. You are evil! Evil!!!
How can I even review this without a spoiler?!?!? I guess I will try in the morning!!

Wow, wow, wow! This book blew me out of the water (pun intended). I went through so many emotions, from anger to complete happiness to depression. Just when I got over one bomb, she drops another. How does Jenn Cooksey do this? Well, she's an evil genius. That's how.
Even though I've only read books one and two of the GYP series, I can already tell...more

So, I am not going to lie and say this will be an easy review to write. It won't be. This book was somewhat of a roller coaster ride. Sometimes you love it and sometimes you just want to puke your fucking guts out.
Cooksey deceived me quite thoroughly. In Shark Bait, we had a sweet and slightly tumultuous story of young love. Filled with amazing characters and quick whit that all ended as a nice tidy package. Complete with pretty bow. I like pretty bows.

The Other Fish in the Sea is book two of the Grab Your Pole series. I read Shark Bait, book 1 last summer and I didn't review it.. For shame I know.. I loved it though, I had won it off of my love Jess's blog. So before I dive into my review of TOFITS, I'll give you a 5 sentence review paragraph of Shark Bait.

I really enjoyed this book. Like Shark Bait, the author did a phenomenal job of writing a story that had me hooked and kept my attention. I can't say enough good things about how great of a writer this author is. She has some of THE most developed characters I have ever read about--she does an amazing job of "show me, don't tell me." Her characters actions, behaviors, and words paint a vivid and in depth picture of who the characters are. I mean I felt like I was right there with them and had a...more
I am in deep book like with Camie, Tristan, Kate, Jeff and their amazing parents and other friends but I LOVE Jillian. That sexy evil genius is the heart and soul of this series. It is so hard to review this book without extensive spoilers and this is the kind of book/series you want to read cold. It flows so well and the different POV's increase your understanding of this wonderful group of friends.

Oh my, where do I even start? I don't even have the words to write to construe how I feel about this book. Not only this book but the author as well. But we'll get to Jenn in a bit.
I first fell in love with GYP gang last year when I was given Shark Bait to read and review by Jenn herself. The writing was so unlike anything I've ever read before and I was enthralled.

Jenn Cooksey is probably the only author who has made me simultaneously love and loathe my teenage years. That achingly sweet romance filled with first love, first kisses and that beautiful next step. But along with first love comes the sometimes inevitable first breakup. Picking up where Shark Bait left off Camie and Tristan are navigating a relationship that is new to both of them. Camie lived a sheltered life being home schooled and Tristan never found a girl he wanted to do anything with oth...more

That is my response to this book, rather the end of this book. I am so mad and upset I don't know what to do. This is when I wish I was not so computer illiterate and could add some of those crazy videos and pictures to my reviews!

It took me some time to calm my nerves long enough to voice my opinion on this book…on this Brilliant, MOST Excellent, nerve wrecking, chain smoking, MOTHER-EFFIN Book!!!
First, let me just say that MISS Jenn Cooksey is an AB FAB storyteller! Her style is so original and fresher than anything I’ve read in a while! The Other Fish in the Sea is the second installment in the Grab your Pole Series by Jenn Cooksey. I absolutely fell in love with this series when I read the first book, Shark Bait, in which we came to know and love Camie and Tristan, and their friends. Ok looking back I kinda loved this book ( minus that ending. boooooo) and here are the reasons why. I loved the GYP Gang, they were a fun bunch. It was like the Tv show the OC but better and less angsty drama, more fun and some drama thrown in. I am really pulling for Camie and Tristan because they both have issues and arent perfect but I think that together they can grow. Immediately after finishing Shark Bait, the first book in this series, I purchased TOFitS and started reading it. I was already so invested in the world Jenn created for us and somehow she managed to make me dive even deeper and love every single minute of it. Trying to write out cohesive thoughts about this book on a Saturday morning at 6:45am without coffee might be dicey. But it’s the book’s fault I’m not firing on all cylinders because I was up all night thinking about it.
It might be because Crazy Stupid Love is playing in the background, but the only thing I can really say that might give you an indication of how great this book is would be to compare it to falling in love (corny yes, but hear my argument before *ewwing* it).

I wasn't fully prepared for this roller coaster ride.
The only problem I really had was that sometimes, with such a huge cast of characters, I had trouble knowing who was speaking.
I sometimes have problems with huge casts, but this one is totally needed. You need the friends you make in this book to hold your hand and assure you that you're going to be ok, and that we'll get through this together. HOLY CLIFFHANGER BATMAN! All I have to say is Tristan has some major sucking up to do in the next book! And he darn well better do it! I'm currently crossing my fingers that book 3 will come out early and that there will be a HEA for Tristan and Camie!
*spoiler* I understand he was sexually frustrated at the end but the poor girl was clearly dizzy and drunk. I mean, she couldn't even concentrate on him and he gets mad she told him to stop? Party fowl, Tristan, party fowl!!!

Agh! Why can't I find a fantastic series that is already all published?!?! I'm going to go nuts waiting for book 3. I love that we're getting to know the characters more. I feel like I am part of their group. Love Cammie although a tad irritating at times figure it out with Tristan talk to him!! Can't believe the cliffhanger we were left with. I really liked Shark Bait. It was fun and I loved Tristan and Camie and how their relationship developed. But I was disappointed with this sequal. I don't know what happened but Tristan and Camie was not at all interesting, I actually didn'ät like any of the two. They were whiney or too obesessed with jealousy or anger or whatnot, and their interactions were not as good described as in SB. I missed reading about the kisses and touches. Ok so the second book in the Grab Your Pole series was even better than the first!
Our little friends definitely had some rough patches (read: cliffhanger). I really love the Ramsey family. They are just a trip. And Jillian is slowly becoming my favorite character. I can't to see what's in store for her (cough* Pete cough*). But what's great about this series you actually love all the characters (except maybe Jeremy) and want them all to have their HEA.

I will have to come back with a proper breakdown of my feelings. But for now (11:21pm to be exact) upon finishing this book mere minutes ago, I have to say simultaneously BRAVA! and sleep with one eye open, Ms. Cooksey. It was brilliant, charming, salty-sweet. It ended with a lovely left hook, the kind that results in that halo of stars over your head. The FEELINGS! And I am a crusty old lady too to be feeling this for a YA book. Oh it was the best.

First, I must tell you I hate roller coasters. I hate them. I once went to six flags with my husband (before he was my husband - when we were Camie and Tristan's ages!) And I barfed. Lots. Then I cried. Lots. It was bad. And you know what? This is what your stupid book made me feel like. I was back on that roller coaster puking my guts up.
But the ending of this book? It's not really fair. It's not. At all. I don't know how you expect to make friends with a cliffhanger like that. I really don't. In fact, the whole last chapter? How the hell do you sleep at night? Because I couldn't, not after reading that. I couldn't sleep. And now? You have me hanging off the damn cliff, wondering just how I feel about some of my favorite characters.
