Mom's Thoughts:

What an interesting idea to make a balloon the main character! My younger sons loved this concept. Just think: Poppy could be one of those balloons that little kids have unwittingly let go only to watch them float high up into the air off to another place. I loved that this helped the younger children relate to Poppy.
It was fun to meet the forest animals that helps Poppy solve his problem. Everyone had a favorite. Mine was the sna

Poppy the Wondering Balloon is such a cute and very sensitive little fellow. He likes to glide but today he keeps seeing a stranger following him and he is very frightened. He glides into the woods seeking his friend Ollie Owl Poppy crying in alarm that he is being followed to please help him. He ends up going from one wise friend to another trying to get help as to who is following him.

Who could this stranger be and why are they following him? Could it be that Poppy is afraid of his own shadow?

When I first read through Poppy and the Stranger, I thought this was such a cute book. I love the character, Poppy. Not your typical character and it encourages kids to use their imagination.
The story itself has a couple different messages that you can use to open up discussions with your kids. First, there’s the topic of strangers. When Poppy thinks she’s being followed, she immediately seeks help. And secondly, just because something is unfamiliar, you don’t always need to be afraid. Poppy d

Poppy is a little green wandering balloon. While floating along he sees his shadow. He doesn't understand it is his shadow. He believes he is being followed by a stranger. He floats to the woods and asks his friend the owl to help him. The owl sends him to the fox. The fox sends him to the snake. None of them see the stranger Poppy tells them about. The snake sends Poppy to the Bear who is the wisest of them all. The bear explains to him about his shadow. As Poppy floats over the water he takes ...more

This is a cute little book for children aged 2+

I love the fact that the main character in this book is a balloon. This book focuses on the characters learning adventure, fascination and self-realization. Poppy has a dilema and along the way his animal friends help him out.

The pictures work really well with the feel of the story.

I recieved this book fro review from the publisher via bostick communications.

Poppy is a wandering balloon. There is a series of books about his adventures and many lessons that he learns.

In this book, Poppy meets a stranger in the dark of night. Afraid, he tries to escape through the forest. There he meets several creatures who try to help him. It is one new friend, a bear who finally helps Poppy to understand his fears.

Easy to read and identify with, children will enjoy Poppy and his adventures.
