"What it looks like is that you're having sex with one of my oldest friends in the linen closet of our reception hall. Unless, of course, she's lost something in her vagina and you were gallant enough to try and fish it out for her. With your penis. If that's the case, I suggest using a larger lure."

Down for the Count is a fun, clever, feel-good romance with a splash of emotional angst, some steamy goodness, and a lot of laughs. The endearing characters will put a smile on your face and the ending will leave you feeling happy. What more can you ask?!

Down For the Count comes out swinging from page one!
After one hell of a shocking betrayal and discovery in the linen closet on her wedding day, Lacey Garrity is whisked away by her best friend’s older brother, Galen, who Lacey has been drooling over and crushing on her entire life. Combine the oh-so-dangerous Jack Daniels with a round of Truth or Dare and Lacey finds herself on her honeymoon after all….with Galen! In a paradise filled with warm breezes, waves lapping at the shore, sun, and sand-...more
One sentence made me love him on the spot, Galen Thomas.
"Dear Satan. I don't know why you're testing me, but I don't like it. No love, Galen."
Lacey had the worst surprise ever, discovering her husband on her wedding day screwing her best friend and bridesmaid on a closet.
That just made me feel sorry for her, and not even comprehend how she had the state of mind to not flip ( of course she flipped ), and take the gallantry way out ( I would have killed both of them :P, I guess I´m not polite lol...more

Cover & Title - 3 out of 5. When i heard the title before i read the blurb or saw the cover i thought it would be a historical romance, i never thought of boxing... weirdly.
Favorite line - “Please tell me you’re not chastising me over my lack of manners right now. Because if I thoght that were true, I just might get one of those stupid shrimp forks your mother insisted we have and jam it into your eye.”
Favorite Character - Lacey Drawers ;)

De manera general me gustó el libro. Comencé a leerlo y me atrapó.

“So I don’t know why you’re trying to talk yourself out of it now. The hard stuff is over. You dumped the groom, ran out of your wedding reception, and jumped on the back of a Harley in your slip. Then you got drunk and flew to Puerto Rico with your best friend’s older brother, who, incidentally thinks you look smoking hot. Who’s got more balls than you?

The first 87% was good. But the last 13% was unsatisfying and too vague.
I enjoyed the relationship development and conversation during the first 87%. Then the mother entered the picture and said things which they erroneously believed, causing them to break up. That part was not well done. I don’t believe normal people would act that way and not communicate. It seemed illogical. They loved each other.
Some readers are going to be ok with this. They don’t mind things that bother me.

Wooh, the sexual tension in this book was off the charts. The heroine who just got married a few hours back, catches her hubby in the act with one of her oldest friends and the hero is there to witness her humiliation. What hurts the heroine the most is her friend's betrayal and it makes her realize that she wasn't really in love. She escapes with the hero, who is a boxer and is also the brother of her best friend.
The hero and heroine have never been close, the hero kind of has always tormented...more

I’m a publicist with Entangled, but Christine Bell is not my client. I’m writing this disclaimer because her book is published by Entangled.
I’ve been a pretty active book reviewer for years, but I wanted to make all the above clear before you read my review. Many might say my opinion is swayed because of my affiliation, but I’ll leave that up to you to judge.
After enjoying the second book in the series first, I was afraid this one wouldn't hold up. I'm happy to say I was completely wrong.

Settling in life is all Lacey has ever done until the day she caught her newly wedded husband with his pants down. Perhaps what hurt worse more than the infidelity itself was that it was with one of her best friends. Leaving the tragedy of two ex’s behind, Lacey quickly escapes to the honeymoon vacation that would never be in order to lick her wounds in private and gain perspective. Only Lacey didn’t go away on her own. The unexpected turn of events on her wedding day left Lacey with no option b...more
When a book opens with the groom of two hours having sex in a closet of the reception hall with one of the bride’s best friends – within the first 5 pages no less – you know it’s going to be fun, because serious stories do not begin this way. It’s fun. I want a mojito ASAP.
One thing though – why is it that in almost any story that has a romance in it, the two MC’s, at about 80% through the book, at hit with a massive case of STUPIDITY? They must doubt the other one’s love, even though it is appa...more

This was a really fun read.
When Lacey finds her groom in the closet with her bridesmaid and close friend Becca, she felt more betrayed by her than by him. She will not have an unfaithful husband even for a day so she will file for annulment.
Galen has always felt an attraction to his little sister's best friend. He thought that Lacey's marriage would finally put her out of his reach, but when he find Lacey looking in on her unfaithful husband and so-called friend he cannot just step aside and n...more

I really enjoyed this book. Never having read a romance where the hero is a professional boxer, I wasn't sure what to expect. But I liked Lacey and Whalin' Galen.
Looking for her groom, Marty, at their wedding reception, Lacey finds him in a linen closet having sex with one of her girlfriends. Stunned and hurt, she grabs a bottle of champagne and leaves on the back of Galen's motorcycle after stripping out of her wedding gown. He takes her to his family's cabin so she can come to terms with what...more

I started this book for two reasons, 1) the cover was hot and 2) the male character was a hot professional boxer (<--seriously, how could I resist?). I finished this book for two reasons, 1) I truly hate to NOT finish a book and 2) I wanted to be able to write an honest review...so here it goes:
I don't get all the 5-star reviews, sorry. This was a short book, 120-something pages but it took me 3 sittings to finish it. Why? I just kept putting it down. ANYTHING else held my interest more than...more

It's not so much that Galen Thomas is a bad boy, so much that Lacey Garrity has been way too much of a goody-two-shoes for most of her life. Lacey has been so busy attempting to please her impossible mother, and everyone else around her, that she's never let herself figure out what it is she really wants. She's too busy being worried that something might go wrong, and that she'll get blamed for it.
Lacey just knows that her mother (whom her friend Cat properly nicknames "The Admira...more

Holy crap, why has no one told me about boxers? I think I need to pay more attention to the sport...
Ok, back to the book. I have been reading a lot of books lately that I wish were longer. Down for the Count is another book I would have loved to keep reading. I'm hoping that there will be a 2nd book (hopefully Cat's story). I love books where the female lead is a woman with a backbone. While Lacey didn't start the book with one, she sure did have it by the end of the book. I kept saying "you go...more

I know I shouldn't have, but I was laughing at the start of this one. For some reason Lacey's reaction when she found her husband of a couple of hours having sex with her BFF just set me off, especially with her fishing comments and her disparaging remarks about Marty being so small. I loved that Lacey's other BFF was there and helped her get away and figure out what to do next. Of course it didn't hurt that Galen was there to help too and that she had a crush on him since childhood.
