I am so messed up over this book! I don't even know where to begin...how to think? I had to call a friend to help me with my thoughts after this one. I am...so...confused...shocked!

I'm not sure how to rate this. Have you ever both loved & hated a book? Warren has a gift when it comes to writing dark erotica and placing her readers dead smack in the middle of her mind games. The writing is fantastic, the plot and context superb...so what's my problem? I don't like this subject matter. I don't understand the whole slave/master thing. I do not understand the power exchange in relation to myself so it's hard for me to understand why anyone would do that. I also don't under...more I'm not sure how to rate this. I also don't understand the need to receive or administer pain in any situation-especially in a sexual context. I hate non consensual sex (rape), and I REALLY want to go all ninja, cutting off vital body parts, on people who engage in human trafficking. It's hard for me to connect with characters who are part of all this. *sigh* I don't judge those who do enjoy this though, because, hey, to each his own. I'm pretty sure there are tropes I love that others don't.

Hear Me is such a dark, emotionally wrenching story. When I finished, my jaw hit the floor and I was all, "Oh, HELL no!!" A young girl, Melody, escapes from a sex ring. She has been brainwashed and brutalized into a slave mentality-conditioned to accepting anything. She escapes and is found by a reluctant sadist dom. He doesn't want what she is offering, even though it is appeals to his baser nature. They connect and suddenly, Melody begins to remember.

Then the mind games begin.

We learn about her abduction through her memories and suddenly, you're not sure exactly what happened. Was this a kidnapping or did she go willingly? Who is the real villain? Is there even a real villain? You'll be reading and re reading, trying to see exactly where it all began to go wrong. We are never really given a clear answer to any of our questions. There is no traditional HEA in my opinion. It ends in a way that is acceptable to the main characters...if not necessarily for us.

I'll rate this soon...for now I am still thinking.

However, Hear Me is even more extreme in its dark content and I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it. First let me say Skye Warren has a very intriguing voice and gave me a story that I had to finish, even if I was uncomfortable. As the reader, you are left in the dark about a number of things. It starts with our heroine Melody escaping from some sort of sexual slave prison. Through the heroine’s memories, you realize she has been extremely abused, brainwashed, tortured and humiliated. The kind of torture where she can’t remember her own name or whether she has family or not. The kind of torture where she is starved, beaten, raped, and worse.

She escapes and when she wakes up she is in a man’s house. She doesn’t remember escaping, so she assumes she was sold to a new Master, and that she now must submit and obey his every command. The man’s house she is in is named Sam. He feeds her and clothes her and doesn’t know what to do with her. He actually doesn’t want her. Melody can’t figure out how to speak, so she communicates with him on a very basic level. While he treats her well, he realizes she needs to be dominated, and she needs pain to get off. Melody’s mental condition is extremely fragile and with her brainwashing, all she knows is how to submit and give pleasure. She does what she can to avoid a beating she assumes she is getting. It takes time for her to realize she won’t receive harm from him.

I was on board with this book at this point. And I hesitate to give too much away, but I feel like I have to a little bit, to explain what I didn’t like about this book. So there may be spoilers ahead.

Eventually Melody’s memory comes back and she realizes she had a job and friends in a big city. She leaves (reluctantly) and goes back to her ‘real life,’ where she speaks out the police about her ordeal and gets back to her normal routine, if that exists anymore. This is where things start to get murky. She starts to remember a lot of things, and people who were in her life previous to going to that sexual prison, People who may have also been involved with her disappearance. . The story has some twists and turns, and I could see where the author was giving us some unexpected things, but I personally needed a lot more explanation. I wanted more depth when Melody was away from Sam. I wanted to know exactly what she was doing prior to disappearing, who she was hanging out with, and the extent of those relationships. I wanted more explanation regarding a previous boyfriend and the extent of her BDSM in her life. I also wanted more about who worked at the prison she was in.

Maybe the point of the story was to be vague, since Melody never regained all of her memories. It added a mysterious air to the whole thing. But as a reader, I felt cheated out of the ‘whys’ Or maybe I just didn’t pick up on the clues and they were there just overlooked by me.

I expected this to be erotica, with not a solid HEA ending, but wow. The ending to me felt creepy. I didn’t expect rainbows and sunshine but I didn’t get a good vibe from the ending paragraphs at all. Again, I think it has more to do with the subject matter and how comfortable I was with it, which turned out to be not so much.

I’m rating this one a Grade of C because I really didn’t like the end and felt confused in the second half, yet I think the author takes chances with this story and I can appreciate that. If you want to try this author’s dark style, I recommend Trust In Me. You can read my review of that book here.

This was very unexpected. I did not see the twist at all--and I should have! I've read a book like this before with similar themes but not the same exact circumstances, so I felt like I should have seen it coming, but a teeny, tiny part of me is kind of glad I didn't and that the author was able to blow me away like that.

While I have loved some "fluffy vanilla" or standard BDSM reads, Ms. Warren is an author that likes to push boundaries and I am so pleased I found her 'cause I'm a reader who likes being pushed.

This installment of her non-consent series is a story of a Slave and her journey back to normalcy (or something like that). Melody escaped from where she had been being "trained." She couldn't remember her name-where she lived or anything-only that she was a slave to be used, abused, and toyed with however her Masters liked. She had no say; she was a slave and was meant to please them.

Now she was free but when you don't know who you are you tend to need a little help, she finds that in a strange man she knows nothing of. Sam is kind to Melody and immediately sees her broken state and tries to help her. He has knowledge of submissives and tries to coax Melody back to a bit of
her normal self and hoping to teach her to trust him. Trust doesn't come easy to Melody...compliance yes, but not trust... She trusts Sam though.

When Brandon, Sam's brother arrives things begin to change, memories begin to arise and once they are out they can't be locked back up. Melody now has a choice to make... Stay with Sam and never know who she truly is or go and find out who she is, what was done to her, and build herself a new life. The choices she makes will collar her to her decision for good.

I was so caught up in the intense relationship between Sam and Melody. I could feel her need to be subservient to him the whole way through and his struggle to be gentle with her - I loved it. I hope that there will be more to come about Anya, Brandon, and the club 'cause now I'm even more curious.

This is a disturbingly arousing book I couldn't put down until the last page was turned. It may not be for all readers due to the torturesque content including rape, humiliation and mind games, but let me say this... All things that happened in this book made the story progress, built the characters (or broke them), and gave it depth. Without those events it would have been the same story I have read over and over. Skye Warren is a MASTER-ful writer when it comes to Dark Erotica!

Do you know your limits? Push them! See how far you can go... I'm still pushing and I love it when I find books that push back.(less)

I struggle to decide where to start! I’m very fenced about this story, because I like BDSM, but until this story, I didn’t realize that it was only to a point. The term “dark erotica” is no joke. It’s a very dark story involving hard core BDSM. Barring her captivity, there are several instances of questionable consent, yet they don’t cross the line and are surprisingly erotic.

At this point, I have a few. But this story moved me, pushed me, and made me want more. I think there is something disturbing about the fact I found this book ridiculously romantic. This was a quick read, 100 pages or so. Despite its short length, the pace was kinda slow and I didn't feel the chemistry between the characters as much as books with similar story lines, like Comfort Food or Captive in the Dark. This book fell short of reaching either of those books' level.

I was all set to take that trip down the road to the dark side again with Skye Warren, but I must say I was surprised. This one was a little lighter than the previous books I've read by this author, but still just as gripping and with the darkness of slavery and a little BDSM around the edges.

Since this is the third installment of the Dark Erotica series, I was prepared for Carlos and his sadistic means of torture to invade my dreams and turn them into nightmares. But, Carlos isn't in this book....more I was all set to take that trip down the road to the dark side again with Skye Warren, but I must say I was surprised. This one was a little lighter than the previous books I've read by this author, but still just as gripping and with the darkness of slavery and a little BDSM around the edges.

Since this is the third installment of the Dark Erotica series, I was prepared for Carlos and his sadistic means of torture to invade my dreams and turn them into nightmares. But, Carlos isn't in this book...but not to worry; he will make an appearance in Don't Let Go, due for release in 2013. Who I did meet was a new villain...a very different type of villain. This villain has the type of name I associate with a hero in a sweet romance novel....WRONG! Oh, boy was I wrong! I won't give away his name because that would spoil it for you, but I will say that I was misled...in a good way...to believe this villain was actually going to be her savior. This book has a few shocking twists in it that had me catching flies with my mouth hanging open in a couple of chapters. In fact, it is really hard to do this review and keep it free of spoilers.

The heroine in this story of deceit and betrayal is one screwed up woman. Maybe a little PTSD? This heroine is so broken mentally and physically, I can't help but feel her pleas of wanting to be taken care of, and of being cared for.
Take me. Use me. Want me. Oh God, somebody want me. I don't want to be worthless anymore.
I love how the author doesn't divulge any names of the characters until mid-way through the book. It seemed to make the story so much more personal and the reveal so much more gripping...so I won't spoil your fun by revealing character names, either. I was really saddened by her experiences as a slave, and the nightmares that haunted her were horrifying. Now, we all know that a woman should never leave her drink unattended...apparently she didn't get that memo. But that's not the worst of it. She is caught in a web of lies, deceit, betrayal, and all she knows - or remembers - is how to be a slave. Even when freedom is at her doorstep, she can't shake her training.
"You won't make me stay?" I said, knowing the answer, fearing it. His expression was opaque as he said, "I won't make you leave."
"Freedom's an illusion. We all live in prisons of our making. You picked this one...."
I was really caught up in her story and the author had me smiling for most of the way through. I thought Skye Warren was finally showing me the light at the end of the dark tunnel I've gone through this week in my reading....only to smack that smile right off my face and dim that light with shocker...after shocker...after shocker!

Now, most stories have an alpha male that we love or hate. Well, this one has two! Yes, I loved him #1 and thought I would love him #2...I guess I'm either not a good judge of character, or the author is just that good. I believe the author is really that good, because she managed to make me question my own judgement of BOTH him #1 and him #2. I was back and forth on many of the characters in this story, but especially these two men. I didn't know whether to like them, hate them, trust them, or run from them screaming for my sanity.

Skye Warren has delivered another great book in the erotic genre that will take you on a journey of depravity laced with pain. The HEA in this installment is once again determined by the reader. In my eyes....not so much a HEA, but I loved the way the story ended. In her eyes, she received the HEA she had longed for. I give this book 4 stars and commend Skye Warren for the angsty twists, shocking mystery, and wonderful surprises I never expected to find.

The book is told from "her" POV, which follows the first two books in this series. She awakes and wonders where she is when she encounters her "Master". Her "Master" is not identified by name but from his actions he doesn't want a slave.

She is confused with the way he treats her and she doesn't want to leave her "Master". He is kind, considerate and doesn't dish out the pain she endured when she recalled she was at a camp that trained women to become "slaves". She had escaped prior to being shipped to her new "Master".

She cannot speak and "Master" knows this and they are able to communicate. It isn't until approximately half way into the book when "Masters" brother comes to visit that the names of "Master" and "her" are revealed.

She begins to recall some aspects of her prior life but there is still a BIG piece of her memory missing. The book reads like a romance between her and "Master" and when the brother arrives the pieces start to fall in place and then BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then TWIST the story starts to take a turn and I thought okay that makes sense but what is "she" going to do since it appears she wants to be a slave to "Master".

There is a point in this story that I stopped and said to myself Oh Hell No I did not just read that and I literally went back and read the passage again. This book has the most AWESOME twist that I NEVER saw coming in it and left me speechless, shocked, awed, and saying to myself WTF..............

I highly encourage those with a passion for dark erotic reads to read this one! There is bonus story afterwards that left me wanting more but that didn't involve the two main characters in this book. Who is "she"? Who can she "trust"? How did this happen to her? Does she want to go back to "Master"? and more importantly can she LIVE WITHOUT him?

Skye I love, love, love this series and cannot wait for the fourth book - Carlos story!! I have to see if there is anyway whatsoever he can be redeemed, so to speak, given his past and involvement in the first two stories!!! (less)

This was so different than the earlier stories in the series. I really liked it but...

It kind of reminded me of The After Hours from the Twilight Zone. But not exactly.

The whole "pretty girl" washed up on the beach theme reminded me of the classic and current story of how Aquaman's parents, Tom Curry and Atlanna, met. But not exactly.

Sam and Brendan actually reminded me Logan and Jake from Master of the Mountain. But not exactly.

Kneeling with her nose to the ground is nothing but an everyday effort for her. And its taken over. This makes her feel safe. But now she has a new Master, and he is rewriting the rules. She feels safe. She feels cared for. But just as soon as you begin to feel that with her, just as soon as you exhale – BAM! Skye rips it all out from under you and you are floundering, wondering what is happening. How can this woman survive this??

Right from the first page I was drawn into this story. It was exciting to see the slave struggle to discover who she is, while trying to learn about her new Master and his wants and needs. As the puzzle starts to come together, and new facts come to light, I was shocked over and over. To say that this story had surprises puts it lightly.

If you like stories about power exchanges, dubious consent, some hot sex and BDSM, you will like this story. There is a heart here that has been broken by a series of people who took control of a young woman who got in over her head without even realizing it. And it cost her everything. But the question you are wondering throughout the story is will she make it or not? Will she be happy? And just who is she anyway? Well, I know. I read the story. Now its your turn, so hop to it!

I devoured this book in a matter of hours! I literally couldn't put it down, I kinda felt like Melody, I couldn't escape from the reality I was living in and, even if I wanted to, everything was too good for me to leave.

Melody has escaped and is on the run from those who are pursuing her. But it’s unclear who those people are, and if she will ever really escape them. She is found by a man who seems kind, but does not appear to want her, at least not at first. What comes after may be related to what came before, but until Melody’s memories return, she won’t know who to trust.

A dark erotic read that had me at the edge of my seat anticipating what would come next. It will have you wanting to yell out loud at the top of your lungs and wanting to slap around a character or two. Such vivid imagination and originality that you’ll feel as if you are right there watching it all unfold. A great read for all and any BDSM/erotic readers that accept a dark touch to the lifestyle. This was my first Skye Warren read and WILL NOT be my last!

Not sure about this one. Skye Warren writes well and I do enjoy her writing style. This book seemed different somehow, I found the second half confusing and I am still not sure entirely what happened. There are so many questions left unanswered...

Not my favourite book in the series but I still have high hopes for book 4....

Hear Me was amazing. It was just the right length for the story, and was well written and interesting. The plot line was really well done and kept me wanting for more. The main characters definitely were developed and whole. I found myself wanting to know more about their motives, their desires, their past – the sign that I’ve truly found a special book.

May I just state that I’m a huge fan of Skye Warren and her Dark Erotica Series. She is such a talented writer and these series, though short in length, packs quite an emotional punch. May I just state that I’m a huge fan of Skye Warren and her Dark Erotica Series. She is such a talented writer and these series, though short in length, packs quite an emotional punch. They are not for everyone, mind you, so be aware before you decide to pick it up. These stories are filled with dark subject matter that might push one’s comfort level. These series involve non-consent sex, slavery, and psychological torture. However, if you’re like me and are not bothered by the graphic nature that these subject matters often create, then you will find this series just as intriguing.

She paid her keep with obedience.

After reading Trust in Me, book two in the series, which I could not put down, I was anxiously waiting what was next in the series. From what I previously knew about this series, the opening scene where a woman is escaping was not a surprise. She’s running from her captors. She knows she’s on an island and spots a small boat, untied and bobbing on the shore. After climbing in, she passes out. When she awakens, she finds herself in new situation.

Her training kicked in. It didn’t matter how she had ended up here in this strange, comfortable room at the mercy of this strange, sinister-looking master. She knew what to do. Her limp body slid from the bed and dropped to its knees. The movement awakened a thousand new aches, but it couldn’t be helped. She bowed low, praying she looked properly worshipful.

Who is this man standing in front of her? Is he her new Master? Why is he being so kind? The longer she stays and the more this man shows her kindness, she wants nothing more than to stay with him. However, there’s something her new Master is hiding. Why doesn’t he want her?

Sam found this woman and wants to help her, but there’s one big problem: She’s not speaking. No matter how hard he tries, she won’t make a sound. There’s something about her submissiveness that’s provoking his Dom side. He tries to suppress it, especially after what happened in his past. Plus, he knows what she is, so her behavior towards him is just a result of her training; There’s no way she wants him of her own will, right?

It amazes me that this story packs such an emotional punch in a short amount of time. This story veered off a little from the previous two books. I was waiting for a certain villain from the previous two books to reappear, but nope, nothing. This could certainly be a stand alone, at least in my opinion. The ending also threw me for a loop. I had to read it twice to get it. I wasn’t expecting it and am still left a little confused as to how everything tied up. No worries, though. It didn’t ruin the story and everything turned out the way it should. I can’t wait for the next installment of this dark series. (less)

Skye Warren does it again with Hear Me her new release in the Non-consent/Dark Erotica series.She writes some of the most arousing, frightening, thought provoking, disturbing, dark erotica and I love it! When I finish one of Skye Warrens books I think to myself - damn I'm twisted; I loved the torture, the submission/compliance, the dominance/aggression, all of it combined make me crave more and I know it's so bad but I'm so thankful that there are authors out there like her that push my limits. While I have loved some "fluffy vanilla" or standard BDSM reads, Ms. Warren is an author that likes to push boundaries and I am so pleased I found her 'cause I'm a reader who likes being pushed.

This installment of her non-consent series is a story of a Slave and her journey back to normalcy (or something like that). Melody escaped from where she had been being "trained." She couldn't remember her name-where she lived or anything-only that she was a slave to be used, abused, and toyed with however her Masters liked. She had no say; she was a slave and was meant to please them.

Now she was free but when you don't know who you are you tend to need a little help, she finds that in a strange man she knows nothing of. Sam is kind to Melody and immediately sees her broken state and tries to help her. He has knowledge of submissives and tries to coax Melody back to a bit of
her normal self and hoping to teach her to trust him. Trust doesn't come easy to Melody...compliance yes, but not trust... She trusts Sam though.

When Brandon, Sam's brother arrives things begin to change, memories begin to arise and once they are out they can't be locked back up. Melody now has a choice to make... Stay with Sam and never know who she truly is or go and find out who she is, what was done to her, and build herself a new life. The choices she makes will collar her to her decision for good.

I was so caught up in the intense relationship between Sam and Melody. I could feel her need to be subservient to him the whole way through and his struggle to be gentle with her - I loved it. I hope that there will be more to come about Anya, Brandon, and the club 'cause now I'm even more curious.

This is a disturbingly arousing book I couldn't put down until the last page was turned. It may not be for all readers due to the torturesque content including rape, humiliation and mind games, but let me say this... All things that happened in this book made the story progress, built the characters (or broke them), and gave it depth. Without those events it would have been the same story I have read over and over. Skye Warren is a MASTER-ful writer when it comes to Dark Erotica!

Do you know your limits? Push them! See how far you can go... I'm still pushing and I love it when I find books that push back.(less)

This is the least Disturbing out of the 3 books.
All I wanted was Sam to pull her in and Love her. I certainly didn't expect that he was a Dom.
When Melody puts all the pieces together it's rather frightening and I couldn't help feel bad since she was alone in the world. There are some hot and dark sex scenes nothing to raunchy. The ending had good closure.
