*This book was provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. So a huge THANK YOU to Joanna Mazurkiewicz for giving me a chance to read and review her wonderful book!*

More like 3.5 stars
The Whispers of the Sprite is one of those books that make me think I should start reading more YA novels. Especially paranormal YA novels like this one. I admit, the summary didn’t really pull me in, and if it hadn’t been for the paranormal element I probably would have passed. But I’m really glad I didn’t!

When I first started reading this book, I wondered if I was actually going to end up finishing it. For a moment, I thought that there were writing errors in it, but then I imagined Ania as the foreign girl who came to England when she was around thirteen. When I started thinking that way then the strangeness of the writing became a foreign accent and it became so much easier to read. This book was written in first voice, present tense.

Rating: Somewhere between 2.5 and 3 stars.
This book created some original characters that were interesting and exciting to read about. I love it when a new paranormal creature is developed as it brings a whole new set of ideas to read about. I enjoyed the concept of Sprites as it was unusual and I haven't read anything like it before so I found myself reading on to find out more about their nature. Ania’s life changes when she is stabbed late one night on the beach. After he incident she starts to be able to see spirits, one in particular is Gabriel. The rub of the situation, Gabriel and Ania could not touch one another.

I am always a little hesitant to write a review that is less than complimentary of a book. I am not in the business of bashing authors because I don't personally like their book. And, I want to be supportive of independent and relatively unknown authors. That being said, when I read a book like this, I feel that it is my job as a reviewer to set aside the possible hurt feelings of the author and tell my readers my honest opinion.

A fantastic Y.A read for all ages.Ania lives an ordinary life with a controlling mother. Until finally she leaves for college. On her first night in a strange city, she is attacked when she wakes in the hospital. She discovers a strange new ability she can see sprites-or fairies. Sprites are assigned a human to watch over. Gabriel is Ania,s guardian fairy protector. Gabriel is shocked Ania can see him, humans cannot know about them. The story follows Ania and Gabriel on a journey of love and dis...more
I got this as a free download from amazon.de so I didn't really have any expectations.
The plot itself wasn't really that bad, but i found myself skipping large parts because the descriptions where just boring and dragging on. Don't get me wrong there are books with a lot of details where you really read every word and are glad about it. But that wasn't the chase here. Then the characters started out okay but the didn't really grow on me and they also didn't develop much.

The following review is my opinion and not a paid review. I received a copy of The Whispers of the Sprite from the author for review.
Ania is very happy when she moves to Swansea city in Wales where she will be attending the University there. She has been living with her very controlling mother in London. She is excited and anxious to start her new life in Wales without her mother. In her new life she will have no one to tell her what to do all the time. I liked Ania but there were times when she...more

Ania is finally away from her controlling mother. But the perfect life she was expecting is nowhere near. After being stabbed she starts seeing people that it supposed to not be there. Her life becomes a turbulent ride between someone trying to kill her and falling in love with a magical creature.
The Whispers of the Sprite is intriguing since the first sentence. The story drags you into the mind of Ania and we live the story through her eyes. A 22-year-old girl, going to University in Swansea (...more

This book makes me so sad. Not because the content is sad, but because I couldn’t finish reading it. I absolutely love the cover and the summary sounds exciting. Unfortunately, the story itself doesn’t live up to either. I made it most of the way through the book, but gave up when I realized there really wasn’t any plot developing.
The start of the book was exciting. Ania’s overbearing mother is a mess with her leaving for school, and on the very first day away Ania is attacked. But that’s about...more

As you can tell from the rating, I thought this story was okay.
I wasn't as hooked as I thought I would be. It seemed to kind of drag on, and I kept putting off reading it because the main characters kind of made me mad.
They were off and on, the guy was confusing, and I didn't really like the main character.
I'm sorry, but I won't be reading the next one.

This is a must read for everyone. I loved the two main characters, Ania & Gabriel. The blossoming relationship between the two was magical. It didn't take me long to read it because I couldn't put it down. I had to keep turning the pages to find out what happened next. The book left me wanting more And i cannot wait for the next instalment :)

Ania is suddenly able to see people she shouldn't and begins to learn about a whole world she never knew existed, and falls in love with the Sprite (fairy) who is assigned to watch over her. The story itself is interesting, but it is slow in places and seems to drag. There are also some critical scenes that we are told about, but don't actually see. It made their relationship a bit difficult for me to understand. We don't really see the development so I found it hard to believe. I didn't really...more

“We are staring at each other, forgetting about the harsh reality and I can feel my heart reacting. He touches my cheek and the familiar electric current runs through me. His hands are warm, caressing my pale skin. His deep-blue eyes are filled with serenity and passion. I keep telling myself to breathe, but I am unable to exhale the air from my lungs. Then he leans forward and his lips touch mine, increasing the temperature in my body. He kisses me gently, trying to break his way through, testing to see if I let him in. His lips are sweet and warm. A few seconds later it is all over and he disappears once again, leaving me uncontrollably awake and trying to gather my wild thoughts.”
