What a cute story! It is totally non-standard, and offering an insight into the "real" problems a werewolf and a vampire might have when they are attracted to each other. Each of the main characters already has some very species-specific needs and issues, but combine the two and you have a bit of a cross-cultural disaster at first. Written with the kind of humor that presents the most outrageous comments with such aplomb that it made me laugh, this story is definitely an entertaining read. And t...more What a cute story! Each of the main characters already has some very species-specific needs and issues, but combine the two and you have a bit of a cross-cultural disaster at first. Written with the kind of humor that presents the most outrageous comments with such aplomb that it made me laugh, this story is definitely an entertaining read. And the characters clearly have enough depth for me to wish there were a novel-length sequel.

Alan is the werewolf. And he is extremely unique. As he explains, it isn’t a family thing and he wasn't bitten. So how did he become one, I kept asking. Believe me, when you find out, you will be as amused as I was. It's a great explanation for a guy with Alan's job, and that is all I will say so as not to ruin the surprise. Alan is going through his "monthly thing" when he runs into Eric and though he is immediately attracted, he holds back. He has no idea what the inter-species protocol might be and he doesn’t want to ruin his chances. Too cute!

Eric, the vampire, has a few issues of his own. Having no "circulatory system", as he puts it, causes a few issues in the are of physical arousal (there is none), and there is now only one way he can get off. He is scared to mention it, but when he does, Alan's reaction isn't what Eric feared. He also has a few other personal challenges, and I loved reading about his hesitant thoughts as he worked his way through figuring out how a relationship might work. Alan has it right: Eric is adorable. Not your typical vampire at all, but I liked that.

If you like unusual stories about paranormal beings, including all their frustrations, if you enjoy reading about inter-species problems and how to get over them, and if you're looking for something to make you laugh and cheer you up, give this one a try. You may like it as much as I did.

I had a feeling when I started to read The Friendly Werewolf and the Almost Virgin Vampire that I was in for a treat. I liked her imaginative storytelling ability as well as her likeable characters.

Since I think the blurb does an excellent job at describing the story, I won’t rehash a lot of it. Alan is lonely werewolf who has a well-intentioned family that drives him crazy. Although they say they accept his furriness during the full moon, they still don’t fully understand it and to be honest, Alan even struggles with it too. One night as he’s prowling as a werewolf he comes along a nice looking, lonely vampire who he immediately feels an attraction and kinship for. As they strike up a conversation, both men are surprised by how easy it is to talk with each other as well as the chemistry between them. As they continue to hang out and discover more about each other, they realize there are some misunderstandings about the paranormal side of them and have some obstacles they must overcome if they want to start a relationship together.

I liked this book. I thought the banter between Alan and Eric was fun to read and I enjoyed every moment they had together in the story. I thought the author did a fresh and unique spin on a well used genre. There were some very interesting things about both of the heroes as well as myths about their vampire and werewolf side that I thought was enjoyable. I also liked that this author has a quick wit and humorous side to her writing that I really appreciated. I thought the chemistry between the two men was very strong and I found myself really wanting them to find a way to get together.

I do wish the story had been longer. There were many unanswered questions I had when I finished the book. This is also what I consider a sweet story. There is romance and a hot kiss, but if you are looking for some hot sex, there is not any in this book. This was totally okay with me, because of Eric’s condition and in all honestly, it’s the beginning of hopefully a beautiful relationship, so they didn’t rush into jumping into bed which I totally understood and even appreciated. In my opinion, the story did end a little open-ended, so I hope this means the author will be writing more about these two heroes and I’ll find out more about them and have some questions answered as a series progresses.

All in all it was a good story. I really loved the author’s voice and creativity, and I’m looking forward to reading more by her. If you’re looking for a sweet story about vampires and werewolves with a unique spin to it, then this would be a very good choice for you. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Ms. Caroll in the future.

This is a cute read. It also has funny moments. However, if you go into this book thinking a) that it is serious, you'll be disappointed b) that it's going to be a sexy M/M paranormal, again, you'll be disappointed.

The book is light-hearted and does not take itself seriously. If you go into it with anything other than those expectations you will be let down. But, for goodness sakes, look at the title. I think that gives you a fair hint.

Really short and starts at 4% on kindle

The opener was boring for me. I didn't understand the princess bride stuff having never watched that. All the opener did was confuse me with a boring conversation that went no where. Now I'm curious how he became a werewolf... How he came out to his family as a were? How Long he been a werewolf ?

This was a really cute story. It’s adorable because both characters are awkward and shy around each other. They get along right away but they aren’t sure how to act. Alan’s attracted to Eric, especially his smell, but Eric can’t figure out why Alan came home with him. He constantly questions whether it’s because Eric was convenient to Alan’s otherwise insatiable appetite or if it’s for other reasons. They are both funny and cute and shy. They have innocent conversations that let them get to know each other better. I found them both to be funny and interesting even if there isn’t much depth to them. Eric also has this really huge cat, Princess, that is probably as big as a puma . He’s aggressive and needy and doesn’t like to be brushed off for what he probably thinks is a big dog. So cute!

What I really loved about the story, though, is how different Alan is as a werewolf. He wasn’t created by a bite or born that way but rather turned into a shifter from mixing the wrong ingredients while cooking. He doesn’t have a tail but instead walks on three legs with his left leg sticking up behind him, he can talk in his wolf form and the few days before the full moon he essentially becomes Chewbacca, he gets so hairy. He also didn’t automatically turn into a handsome stud, he’s forty-something and he has to work to keep himself in shape. Eric is a bit different because, as a vampire, he can’t produce enough blood to get an erection, although he can achieve something close to an orgasm by biting into a human. Since he can’t get an erection, he doesn’t have sex which is how he’s an (almost) virgin. He had it once, when he was turned, but it’s been decades since then with no sexual interactions. I liked the differences these two had, it set them apart from other vampires and shifters which was refreshing.

While I enjoyed the story very much, my biggest problem with it was the POVs, it’s told in alternating first person, which is my least favorite writing style. I was confused sometimes on who was ‘speaking’ and had to go back and reread especially when I had to put the book down for a bit, coming back to it was doubly confusing to figure out who’s POV it was in. Beyond that, the book was too short. I wouldn’t exactly classify this as romance but there are undertones to Alan and Eric becoming a couple later on. What we see in this story, however, is almost completely platonic except for a few brief kisses and a promise of tomorrow.

All in all, a cute short story that I really liked. I didn’t exactly like the writing but the characters and their one night together was adorable. I loved the uniqueness of being a werewolf and a vampire and I liked the relationship they’re developing and I wouldn’t mind getting a sequel and seeing them actually become the couple they’re promising to be.(less)

This adorably funny short story would have been worth a try just for the title. Luckily, the story itself matches. Original and silly; I mean come on, the vampire talks to the werewolf while he’s a wolf and the wolf talks back. Picturing a talking wolf, oh boy. A talking wolf wearing a backpack and a flea collar with his house key hanging off it having a conversation with a floppy haired goth moppet vampire with a huge cat on a leash? Priceless.

Like the other book I read from Amber today, I totally liked this one, except the ending!
It was a funny story, and it had a whole different take on weres and vamps than all the other stories I have read!

I felt like I was just getting into the story and I hit next on my Kindle and then it was over! Too short to really get into the story. I thought the characters were cute, but not enough time to develop. If there is more, I'll definitely be interested in reading it.
