Oh wow I loved this book for a lot of reasons. They are as follows.
- No cheating
- A solid relationship
- No break ups
- No stupid fights
- A nice simple romance
I could not believe how much I loved this book. It had a bit of humor in it to add and the characters were great. I could not have loved Brian and Vic more if I had tried. Both were sweet, sexy guys and both loved each other. The relationship began very quickly but I liked that about this book, the characters had that sort of appeal to each...more

This was a nice story, nothing really exciting or different, but two nice guys meeting and falling in love.
I had a few niggles, giving pets as gifts is not something you should do, you don't surprise people with them , you talk with them, give them time to prepare and consider it.It's a life long commitment , especially for single people working full time! ..yes, I know it's 'just' a story, but it's my pet-peeve! It wasn't done once in this story but twice!

Hated it.
Hay. Ted. It.
Hated it.
Don't let the synopsis fool you. This book had very little to do with Brian and Vic and mostly to do with setting everything up for the rest of the series. Way too many characters were being introduced. Way too many. I know this is eventually going to a series, but damn. Can we just talk about the characters this book was supposed to be about? The other characters are going to have their own stories in time.

I have not read Talia Carmichael before, but I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future. "The Law of Desire" was a refreshing change from the usual books in this genre. Despite the slow pacing, I couldn't put down once I started. There was no conflict between the main characters and there was no mystery to solve (apart from the one with Brian's suspension), but there were enough twists and turns to keep my interest. On the minus side, in my opinion, there were too many unnecess...more
This is a first book of the series by Ms. Carmichael. The feeling was very similar to her other series, Something in Common:
- sweet, a bit on fluffy side although not really too much that give you toothache
- many supporting characters that one way to another turn out to be gay too
- focus on the family and friendships
- there's a conflict but it never become angsty

No angst, lovely plot that evolves slowly but well paced. Characters are are all lovely and fleshed out enough for it to be interesting. The romance was sweet and had a slow build up - It wasnt boring - just well paced. The sex was good but not super detailed so it wasnt burning hot, however it also was slot A into tab B - so I cant complain.

This story didn't speak to me. I couldn't really connect with the characters. Sure Brian was interesting and pulling at the start, but when he started to see Vic it started to get bland. I really don't know why we had to meet so many new characters in this book.
This first book is simply to focused on showing and presenting all new characters of Encounters. I got bored by that. Brian and Vic's story was to cold and bland.

If you like this author's books, then for sure you are going to love this new series.
This is specially for those kind of readers who like a nice love story free of angst and drama.
This is what you need if you just finished an intense book and you need to relax and get all mushy.
Very nice, cute, right amount of sex scenes, and the cover, Oh my, this cover is just so lovely...nicely done.

This book was a struggle for me to finish. It was not because it was badly written - it wasn't - or the characters were unikeable; rather, it was just that I found it to be mind-numbingly bland. The cover is nice and so is the story, so if you want a nice uncomplicated romance, this could be for you.
This was straight up M/M romance, and it was very enjoyable with two rugged and handsome MC's. If you want a light and sweet read, this book is for you. Unfortunately for me, this book didn't turn my crank hard enough to whet my appetite for the sequel No Commitment Necessary. I need a bit more conflict and angst in my M/M stories. At least that is what I'm in the mood for right now. I'll put the sequel on the shelf for a rainy, all romance, day.
A really good start to a new series. I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end and not just because it had my favorites, cowboys. It was a nice, angst free story. Some may find this one not too exciting as there is a definite focus on introducing all the different characters and setting everything up for future books. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.
I am obsessed with this author! Soo friggin good!
