'The Harbour Falls Mystery was the real reason I was here. I had every intention of basing my next novel on the facts of the case. I was tired of fiction; I wanted to write a true crime novel. Plus there was a little part of me— the detect...more

description

Oh, WOW! The romantic suspense genre is alive and kicking! It's been ages since I enjoyed a mystery/romance so much... It reminded of the tons of Nora Roberts, Linda Howard and Beverly Barton's books, I devoured in my late teens. Sexual tension, chemistry, a classic whodunit and so many details, turns and suspense to leave you breathless.

So...
What happened to Chelsea Hannigan?

Six years ago Harbour Falls' socialité disappeared the night before...more

Maybe 3.5.

I started this one a while back and stopped reading it for a while. In a bit of a book slump so went back to it again…. The pace picked up a bit and it was a good enough read.

Did not know who to trust and believe while reading it, right to to practically the very end.

Not sure if I would call the ending a “cliffhanger” – it obviously left it open for the next book but I don’t know if I really cared enough about the characters to pick up the next installment … maybe sometime in the futur...more

HARBOUR FALLS basically revolves around Adam Ward aka stock market billionare aka I.T extraodinare and prime suspect to the island's most scandalous and leading mystery: THE DISSAPERANCE OF Chelsea , ward's high school sweetheart and rich fiance, who mysteriously disappers the night before their fairy tale wedding.

Maddy Fitch plays the intruded best selling mystery novelist, whose interest's peak up while coming across the unresolved dissapearance and murder mystery, which could, potently be t...more

This sexy, romantic and suspenseful mystery story holded my attention from the beginning to the end and I loved it!

My Maddy and Adam:

Maddy Fitch is a best-selling author who comes back to her home town. She is the woman on a secret mission. Maddy plans to do a research on the subject matter for her next book and rents cottage on Fade Island next to Adam Ward - wealthy and successful entrepreuneur, her high-school schoolmate she had crush on and most importantly, n.1 suspect in disappearance of h...more

I needed a change. Something to cleanse the angst-ridden palate I've had riding me of recent. This was the answer. Romantic suspense is a great sub-genre if you haven't delved into it before.
It combines my essential demand for romance with an air of mystery--you can't go wrong. With the right book that is!

Harbour Falls has been on my list for awhile. Finally getting into the mood, I fell into this book and fell in love with it's atmospheric presence.

Madeleine Fitch is a successful mystery noveli...more

From the first page Grey engulfs you in the mystery that has haunted Harbour Falls. Maddy is determined to figure it out once and for all. The chemistry between Adam and Maddy is undeniable. I absolutely loved it and could not get enough. You are left in the dark about what is really going on through most of the book. Between the mystery, the suspicious acting people, and the sexual tension of Adam and Maddy, Grey keeps you on the edge...more

An unsolved mystery brings an author back to her hometown with hopes of solving the crime that will become the story for her next best seller. What happens when your prime suspect is a gorgeous and hot billionaire who steals your heart?

This debut romantic suspense included all the elements that make a challenging read and keeps readers on the edge of their seats. I especially loved the setting on a small remote island -- where there are some strange characters roaming around.

Well-written plot f...more

"Much like the Harbour Falls Mystery itself, the man at the center was a puzzle. And I longed to solve him piece by piece."

It's been five years since Madeleine Fitch returned to Harbour Falls. As a famous mystery-crime novelist claiming to get away due to "writers block" Maddy doesn't want anyone to know why she's really staying at Fade Island. She's doing some investigation and research for some inspiration for her next mystery book and what better research then to study a man who was...more

Off the coast of Maine is an island, Fade Island, called that because it partially fades into an eerie, foggy mist.

And it's where Maddy is going...home...to Harbour Falls first, then ferried out to Fade Island to take care of some "temporary writer's block" *cough cough*. Oh yeah, and to see if she can dig up any dirt on the unsolved disappearance a few years back of one Chelsea Hannigan. Because, writing mystery novels for a living, how can an author, who wants to publish a book of the unsolve...more

This book will have you guessing till the end

This is a story told from Maddie Fitch's point of view. Maddie is a mystery novel writter living in LA. She comes to her home town in Maine to write a novel about a Non-Fiction mystery.

She wanted to get to the bottom of a cold case file of a disaperance. Chelsea was a beautiful young girl that was engaged to be married to the town rich kid Adam Ward. Seeming to have everything everybody in the town wanted. Looks, wealth and Adam. No one could unde...more

Favorite quote from this book:
"Propping himself up on an elbow, he leaned over to press his lips to mine. We kissed-oh so slowly and gently- until I was positively dizzy. Pulling back, Adam said in a low voice, "Oh, Maddy, the things I'm going to do to you."

What I liked about this book:
1. Maddy- she never did what I thought she would do. She also never reacted as to how I thought she would.
2. Adam- broody, sexy, playful, flirty, control freak.... and the list can go on and on and on ;o)

Very excited for this release. I'm so proud of her for putting herself out there and writing this.

Update:
Let me start this review by saying that I am indeed friends with the author. I met her through Goodreads a while back and we have become close since. That in no way changes my review. I take my ratings and review seriously. I know that my fellow goodreads friends and I as well, use reviews to gage whether or not a book is worth our time. So with that, I move on to my review:

Book Review - HARBOUR FALLS (A Harbour Falls Mystery #1) – S.R. Grey

A crime mystery novel that compels the reader with its intricately woven detail, delivered with perfect execution.

I have read a few crime thrillers lately, all of them being totally unique in their own way, but I must say, S.R. Grey has done an incredible job with Harbour Falls. Not only is it a cleverly written crime/mystery/investigative novel, but also it incorporates a love story that rendered me, at times, totally and utter...more

I sat down yesterday to read a bit more of Harbour Falls with the intention of only reading a couple of chapters and then moving on to something else. I am in the process of reading and reviewing four books. Well, yeah, that did not go quite as planned. I was up until 1:00 this morning finishing it. I could not stop turning the pages. So many questions needed answers and I needed to find them. I adored this story line. I had a few minor issues, but as I said I initially sat down for a...more

I really wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading Harbour Falls-I actually only decided to read it because Ms. Grey thought I'd like it and rec'd it when we friended each other-she was right. I will admit, I wasn't sure if I liked Maddie all that much at first. I was a bit irritated that she felt it was okay for her to investigate the "Harbour Falls Mystery" and write about it; plus she seemed to have no regard for whom she might hurt in the process. Then along came, Adam. Adam, Adam, A...more

What a page turner!!
I loved this book. Romance, murder and mystery all in one.
Looking forward to book 2!
Ooohh Adam .... What have you done?

I really enjoyed this novel, I can't believe its the author's first one. Loved the character development and the chemistry between Maddie and Adam was unmistakable. From the first chapter I was sucked in and couldn't put the book down. Of course it had to end with a cliffhanger that has me screaming for more! I cannot wait until the release of Willow Point.

Loved this book from the minute I started reading it. Loved that it was a mystery but had some romance in it as well. I really can't wait for the second book in this series to come out. I can't wait to find out how Maddy's and Adam's relationship turns out and what the next big mystery is!

SR Grey did a wonderful job with Harbour Falls. Creating great characters with a strong female lead. Can't wait for 2013 for the next book.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE STORY TO CONTINUE!

Wow! That was an awesome, exciting, and incredibly nail biting story. I was suspicious of everybody in the book, I felt like someone was watching me the whole time I was reading it. The author does a perfect job of painting gray shades and fog around the supporting characters that has you constantly questioning them and reading between the lines. I even caught myself trying to read in between the lines when there was NOTHING between the lines lol. I loved the chemistry between Maddy and Adam, it...more

“So much had changed since I'd left Harbour Falls. Everyone was so different, their lives so full of complications.”

When crime/mystery novelist Maddy Fitch returns to her hometown in Maine to do research for her next novel, she takes on the cold case that has become the town's biggest mystery. It all surrounds the disappearance of someone she once knew. What exactly happened to Chelsea Hannigan the night before her wedding? The night she was supposed to marry Adam?

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. I love the edge of your seat feeling you get when really into one. As I started reading Harbour Falls it was slow going. It took a while, but once it started going good, OMG I couldn’t stop reading. My favorite kind of romantic suspense is when you have no idea who did what until the end. That was definitely the case here. I was getting whiplash from switching who I thought it was so many times. This story had so many twists and turns, it constantl...more

I've been on the edge of my seat while reading this book. Such a mind-twister! There were times that I thought I could guess what's next or who are really involved in the crime - I came close... But, not close enough and was proven wrong - frustrating but love it! The characters were well developed and I like how Maddy has a strong personality. Even if Adam is a hot billionaire, she still does what she wants to do, which more often than not gets her in trouble. I love how it keeps you guessing w...more

Fantastic start to what promises to be an amazing series! Within a few chapters I was completely hooked and couldn't put the book down until I finished it. The story was fast paced and I absolutely loved all the different characters(especially Adam Ward) which ranged from sexy to down right crazy. Not to mention the town itself was so well put together I'd like to live there myself! This is the first book in a trilogy and I was happy that the main mystery was solved, but wow did she leave one he...more

Madeleine Fitch comes home to Harbour Falls to hopefully uncover what really happened to one of the town’s residents the night before her wedding. In the center of the suspect list is the boy she had a crush on throughout high school, Adam Ward who was engaged to the missing woman. As she investigates her suspect pool grows larger uncovering some skeletons others would like to stay hidden.

An intriguing modern day mystery, several twists that keep you turning each page. I thought this was perfect...more

Maddy a murder mystery novelist decides she wants to try her had at a true murder mystery so she moves back near her home town and begins her investigation into a disappearance that happened 4 years ago. Soon she is involved with the #1 suspect Adam Ward. Adam Ward, sexy millionaire (need I say more?) is very protective of his secrets. The closer Adam and Maddy become, Maddy finds herself in more and more danger. This book keeps you on the edge trying to figure out who is to blame and why. I'm l...more

What a mystery! What a romance! Just what the doctor ordered to test my heart...

Right away, you will fall in love with Maddy and Adam. She is a snoop and a gossip (for shame but it is quite interesting). He is the epitome high school boy crush grown into swooning gorgeous alpha male. Yeah! Remember that one guy in high school that you thought never knew you were alive? That's the one! The one you used to blush, stammer and would make you forget how to walk... and you never forgot him.

Well, Maddy...more

I would like to thank the author, S.R. Grey, for recommending this book to me herself and I can safely say I was hooked! I'm not a big fan of mystery novels but with the added romance of Maddy and Adam and such fantastic characters I couldn't put the book down at all! I can't wait for the next installment after that cliffhanger... I need to know what happens next!!!
