She's done it again!! What can I say ... Tonya Kappes has done it again! A Charming Cure is definitely a 'must read' especially if you have read “A Charming Crime.” (If you didn't ... what are you waiting on?) I laughed, I cried (the ending was very touching) I was literally on the edge of my seat in some parts! I don't know how she does it but Tonya has a way of really taking you into June's world and she makes you feel like you are really there. I love that because June leads a very ...more

This book wasn't nearly as good as the first. First and foremost, I had hoped the editing would have improved but it got worse. In fact, there is a spot where the wrong name was used accidentally and actually told us who the real culprit was halfway through the book. I was also turned off by the obvious attempt to replicate aspects from Harry Potter and Gossip Girl/Pretty Little Liars. With that said, I still enjoy the characters and I love that it is a quick read. I'll be reading the next book ...more

June's all moved in and settled into her new life at A Charming Cure in Whispering Falls. She seems to have accepted her new "talents" and begins using them for the good of her customers. This was a wonderful follow-up to "A Charming Crime." We got to catch up with June, who is settling down in Whispering Falls, and enjoying her brand-new store, A Charming Cure. But when a relative from the past shows up and tells June she must go to Hidden Hall A Spiritualist University, June is anything but thrilled. But she agrees to go for the four-day course. After all, "what could happen in just four days?" A lot! Suddenly June is faced with another mystery to solve as people starting ...more

Tonya Kappes has done it again! This is the second book in the series and was even more delightful then the first one. It's fun and fast paced. Chalked full of magic, mystery, surprise's, and fun character's you can't help but love! Before you know it your at the end of the book and wishing there was more to read. I have also have had the joy of becoming friends with the author herself through facebook. She has a fun street team that you should look into joining. You don't meet great authors ...more

I can't believe how many spelling mistakes and missing words there are in the two books I've read so far. Makes it a little disjointed to read...eg she crossed her chummy arms (took me a few reads to get that it was supposed to be 'chubby arms').

Anyway they are lighthearted books with that read quickly.

I love the story behind this book... The editing (or proof reading) for this books was very poorly done and there are lot of errors, so I wish these would have been fixed before publishing.

This is the second book in the Magical Cures series by Tonya Kappes. This book starts out just weeks after the ending of the first book. June Heal has come to grips with her psychic and spiritualist ability. She feels like she is actually making a difference in the life's of those who come to her shop, A Charming Cure, looking for a homeopathic cure for what ails them and living a quiet life. Unfortunately, things don't stay quiet for long. June's Aunt Helena, whom she has never met or even ...more

*UPDATE* after reading the 5th book i am back to loving it again! all of the things i mentioned im the bottom of this post has been redeemed! i will now go on to her splitsville

Sooooo there is so much I want to say and beware that SPOILERS shall have to pop up so I can give an accuarate review. When I first started this series I was in LOVE. The author has amazing creativity. I highly enjoyed the 1st 2 but the 3rd ruined it for me and so did the synopsis for 4 and 5! I feel that the story could

June's going to school! Yeah, it's a surprise to her as well! Her Aunt Helena literally swoops into June's shop in Whispering Falls, Kentucky, declaring that June is to report to Hidden Hall University, leaving Oscar (who has NO knowledge of cures!) in charge of A Dose of Darla. Off she goes, with her ever-present cat Prince Charming.

At 25, June's older than most of the students but...hey, it's just four days, right? Just four days...There's the first clue that June's time at Hidden Hall is goin

have to say, I do have a soft spot for this series and I'm only on book 2! What I like about it is the romance between June and Oscar burns in the background of the main plot line, adventure magic an mystery are the main factors then you remember that June and her Ding Dongs are being drawn to her oldest friend, the love story is not blinding the whole book but u get satisfaction at the end, sugary sweet satisfaction, once the mystery is solved, secrets are revealed and new relationships are ...more

My interest in this series is quickly dwindling. Book 1 was cute, and I was intrigued by the colorful characters in Whispering Falls, Kentucky. But I don't know if I can continue. The dialogue is terrible. It reads like a high school creative writing project at times. The purple prose pops up at the most awkward times and completely pulls me out of the story. I could overlook this and just enjoy the plot, but I am discovering how much I dislike the main character, June. June is insecure--a ...more

The first two books in the series were cute, as was the Christmas story (6.5 in the time line). But I won't be reading any more of the series.
The blurbs on the other books note that in books 3-6 June will be suspect number one in every crime, which is my number one pet peeve in mystery book series.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

I loved the first book! This series isn't like any other. It's different, it's sweet, it's charming as all get out. It's a quick read and so fun! So far in the book there is a mystery going on and June is trying to fix it. June tried to not leave fingerprints but what about anything else you touch. I was beginning to think about why can't magic be used to find Eloise but before I knew it the story was telling me. It made me laugh when June took Madame Torres away from "Rico Sauvé."

I love the June Heal character and with the description of her tiny shop and the village I can almost believe it's real and somewhere I'd like to visit. In this, the second book of the Charming series, June along with her "pet" the cat, Mr. Prince Charming and her special crystal ball Madame Torres, is off to college to learn more about her powers. On her first day in class a fellow student is poisoned and lay near death, June with the help of Madame Torres and Mr. Prince Charming look not only ...more

I just loved this story! i love the whole magical story line to start with and i enjoyed this as much as the first book. I believe Ms.Kappes has great writing potential and that she could draw her stories out better with a few more details. But the whole thing in general is just a fun, easy, fast read and great for summertime! And i am again looking forward to reading the rest of this series and then checking out other books by this author. Thank you Ms Kappes for the lovely entertainment!

Charming mystery

When I read the first book I fell in love with whispering grove and all the characters. The town sounds magical and the author tells the stories so well I can see everything. The twists and turns, ups and downs, I feel like I'm right there in it all. Loved loved loved moving on to book three

Mystery! Romance! Dark-Siders! Good-Siders! Thieving fairy god-cats! Wait, what?

That’s right, it turns out Mr. Prince Charming is our favorite heroine’s fairy god-cat. Not only that, he used to belong to Aunt Helena, who raised him from a kitten and then sent him to look after her niece. Who’s Aunt Helena? Spoilers!

June finds out she has to attend a special school for training (because all new residents have to at some point), so because she doesn’t want to be away from her shop for any longer t

I think everyone needs a little Whispering Falls and June Heal in their life. The second book added a lot more good stuff to an already amazing series. There are new shops, new characters, and an entire school campus. I love the mystery in the series. You never know what is going to happen to these characters, because anything can happen. You see the town through June's eyes, and she is still finding out about her own secrets, as well as the town. It is a lot of fun finding them out with her! I ...more

You can always count on Tonya Kappes to produce a deliciously light, fun, and cute story. "A Charming Cure" is a great follow up to "A Charming Crime." I love June Heal and all her crazy adventures. I especially loved her Jeffrey Dalmer reference towards the end of the book. I had to laugh out loud. I'm really looking forward to seeing June and Oscar's relationship progress into love. My only complaint with this book is the minor editing issues. The stinking teacher in me is a stickler for ...more

At the end of the last book, I believe, we find out that June, to be a good leader, needs to learn about her powers first. So for the first time ever June Heal goes off to college, the very same college that her aunt is the head of, and trying to figure out what is goi

Now June is off to the Witchy University to learn more about her gifts while she leaves her best friend and local sheriff Oscar to watch over her shop 'A Charming Cure'.

I met the author a couple of months ago at the local SOKY Bookfest & she was super sweet. There are a few little errors / inconsistencies with this book that do take away from it a bit or are distracting. BUT, the author was so nice, I'm willing to overlook those. I think the story itself is a bit flimsy but the author does a great job of describing her world so you can easily use your imagination to put you in there as well. All in all, it was worth the $2.99 I spent on it from Amazon & ...more
