Three words off the top of my head to describe this book - Drama, Sex & Emotion.

I decided to type in the name Marcus DeLuca in my search engine, and this comes up...

Perfectly fitting.

Marcus...delectable Marcus. This story should be read for him alone and all his deliciousness that surrounds him.

Marcus is fairly young, attractive and a top attorney in the Boston area. He's a very dominate male who radiates power. On the outside to everyone he has it all, but on the inside he's been fighting his own problems for sometime now. He can have it all, anything he wants, and he want...more

Marcus DeLuca had to be a dangerous man because I was caving in too soon; it was just too soon to feel this attachment, to feel and want him so desperately. When something seems to good to be true, it's exactly that.

I purchased this book as soon as it was released and was excited to read it. Great story line but....what a letdown. First, totally unrealistic start - I understand that fiction is just that - not real - but for me a story needs to be at least a little believable. Second, the writing felt odd. Some parts were just so descriptive (how she is getting ready to go out for a date) and then others that were more significant to the book were too fast. It felt that if the characters were in their teens,...more

I have a serious love/hate relationship with Disastrous. I saw that a lot of my friends enjoyed this one, so I decided to give it a go and it just was not working for me... at first.

The beginning of this book was a struggle for me. The writing felt a bit choppy, the dialogue didn't flow for me and the relationship just seemed so unrealistic. Marcus meets Mia while she's totally wasted and somehow, based upon that one sloppy drunken interaction, he decides that she is the one girl that h...more

This book has totally manipulated me into giving it another star...

That is how you do a prologue my friends! A hook? Try thousands of tiny hands shooting out from between the pages and grabbing every single part of my body. I was vibrating with anticipation! However, what came next is why I almost...I did...but then I didn't...I did again...but changed my mind...and almost gave it 3-stars.

Marcus and Mia's relationship didn't develop in a way that made me really care whether or not they were toge...more

Disastrous is one of those books that was a good, decent read but not anything amazing, blow my socks off book. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy the book a lot. I am glad I read it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys an easy, romance novel. The book reminded me a lot of the series Untouchable by Lindsay Delagair; a hot romance with a lot of passion and the male lead being involved with the mob.

The storyline is simple, a pretty young girl f...more

“That’s what love is … It’s scary not knowing what’s expected, but I know it’ll be the best frightening love we’ve ever had.”

Mia Sullivan is a brilliant Harvard Law student who falls head over heels for Marcus DeLuca. Marcus is a sexy, intense, secretive, highly successful lawyer who Mia will be working for as an extern for the summer. Oh I almost forgot…he may also be a mobster.

Mia and Marcus have that instant love thing. They meet and are instantly dating, traveling to the Bahamas within days...more

“With him I’m not just me, I’m his.”
A wonderful first book by a bright new author, this is the against-all-odds love story of Mia and Marcus, and the train-wreck that surrounds their sizzling romance.

Mia is a brilliant young woman with no family in the world. She finds it hard to trust people as those she loves and who love her tend to disappear from her life one way or another. Her losses have made her so scared to let people into her heart that she now prefers to be a quiet achiever, somewh...more

I was contacted by author Emmy Montes for an honest review of Disastrous a few weeks back and was very excited by the description. I mean, c'mon... pain and loneliness, unexpected love, double lives, secrets threatening to tear them apart? Everything about that sounds perfect! And have you seen the cover? Gorgeous! So, I didn't think twice about accepting this ARC for review in exchange for my thoughts.

I love a book with a tortured man living a split life between two worlds and the only true peace and solace he can find is in a woman he falls in love with. The way this book started out, I knew I was going to be in for some angst. I love angst. The angst really got rolling about 75% in this book. Before this point, the author takes you on a nice journey of lust n’ love in the fast lane with a few glimpses of what Marcus is involved in and how deeply. Marcus is the type of character you just wan...more

Being a debut novel, I was skeptical at first when I picked up Disastrous by E.L. Montes. I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that as a first attempt, it could either be good or very bad. I admit I was totally skeptical and now that I'm done with it I apologize profusely to E.L. Montes for ever doubting this book.

Yes... my skepticism still held strong through the first half of the book. I kept thinking that the story felt a little sketchy in my eyes, but once I hit the midway mark, I was rel...more

I would probably recommend this book to those who may have just finished Fifty Shades or Bared to You and are suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I understand that many people enjoyed Disastrous and I can see why but for some reason this one did not do anything for me.

First, I may have some major issues with how this story started. To me it all seemed to happen way too fast. (view spoiler)[One night he was meeting her at the bar. A couple of pages later he wanted to date her (even thought he had...more

This was a cookie-cutter book up until the last quarter. It's very formulaic - in lieu of Twilight and 50SoG and similar romance novels. You even get a first chapter from Marcus's POV in the end.

Boy meets girl. Girl thinks she's nothing special. He has never loved before, but falls madly in love with her, and after three days together they are both in too deep and their love is eternal. There's a best friend that the hero is jealous of, and the heroine is jealous of all the women flocking over h...more

I love this indie author already and this is only her first book! Not only is she amazingly talented and has written an extraordinary book, she is also so kind to all of her fans! Disastrous was a definite page turner and it leaves you satisfied in the end but wanting oh so much more. Mia and Marcus have a connection like most people can only dream of but Marcus has a secret that could potentially ruin everything. I was sitting on the edge of my seat throughout this one and I am already dying to...more

I found this book via Goodreads and the cover is what sold me. Then I read the blurb and I knew this was the type of book that I was into lately. E.L Montes is a brand-new author and don't think she's capitalizing on the initials of E.L. James. E. L is Emmy Luz Montes. So onto the story...

I know, I know I bet you thinking “huh, you only rated it two stars?” Yeh, my rating sucks! Even after all the good ratings you’ve all seen about this book but for me, Disastrous was a disastrous read and no matter how much I tried, I just didn’t enjoy it.

The story follows Mia Sullivan who is still trying to get over the loss of her brother and all the other people that she has lost in the last few years. Because of this, Mia doesn’t let many people in, other than her best friend Jeremy. So whe...more

4.5 Stars for E.L. Montes debut novel

I absolutely devoured Disastrous.... I want this book to be a movie one day... such a fantastic read which has all my favorite elements in a book.... drama, angst, love, steaminess, twists and turns ...all around a great story.. truly felt like a rollercoaster of a ride whilst reading this one.

Disastrous is about the story of Mia and Marcus.

Mia has no family and no friends except Jeremy. She is lonely and trying to cope with the grief of her family members....more

What I really liked about Disastrous was its mix of romance and mystery. This story went beyond a rich man falling for a woman and sweeping her off her feet; it added complexity with two damaged characters, the ever-present mob and secrets that, if they came out, could have serious repercussions. The story flowed beautifully mixing the sweet moments with angst, alternating at all the right times, maintaining my interest and playing with my emotions. I loved and understood the characters and didn...more

Disastrous was a roller coaster ride for me. And I LOVED every minute of it! The prologue had me hooked for the minute I started reading. Who was this girl? Why were her emotions so high? I had to find out!

I stayed up all night reading Disastrous. I would say to myself, just one more chapter and I will go to bed. But then I would get the end of the chapter and HAD to know what would happen next! I loved what my friend Maureen said in her reviews on Goodreads. "Kindle crack at it's best!" Ha! Tha...more

The beginning was a little ehh for me. The writing just felt a little forced (like convos between the characters). Who the heck asks a girl they just met to go to the Bahamas the second time they meet?
More importantly, what woman in their right mind would say yes?! Sure, Mr. DeLuca is one fine piece of eye candy but who's to say his charming smile isn't just a tool to lure in women so he can chop them up into little pieces.

Perhaps a bit dramatic on my part, mooooving on.

There were a lot of gram...more

Wow! I could not put this book down! Every single page from beginning to end is captivating! The characters are perfect especially Marcus! He is so Sexy Sexy Sexy in every way possible! Thank you to the author for giving us a Bonus at the end of the book with Marcus's point of view! That was the icing on the cake! Can't wait for the next book! I miss Marcus already!! Wish I hadn't finished it so quick :( Awesome Book!!

"The love we had may not have been perfect, but it was love and no less."

It will never be disastrous for me. Nothing is perfect but for me it is! I definitely enjoyed riding with the emotional roller coaster and all. It..it was...intense! So, yeah, I truly recommend this and why can't I freaking wait for the sequel! Am gonna go crazy-crazy waiting! Waaaa!

An interesting story, but something seemed off about it. Not sure if it was the writing style that I maybe was a little different? Lots of love, sex and drama and you couldn't help but love the characters, but I hated the way Mia and Marcus fought like teenagers, when clearly their problems were a lot bigger. Drama, break up, sex, make up, drama, break up, sex, make up...that got redundant. This was a great story and if the writing could be tweaked, the next story could be awesome!

I hadn't read this because I'd heard there was a cliffhanger ending, then I heard there wasn't. I decided to read it and find out for myself, and it doesn't end in a cliff, but oh, it sure does leave you wanting more!!

I really really enjoyed this book. It has everything that I love. I cannot wait for book 2! I'm pretty sure you'll be adding Marcus to your list of BBFs! ;)

“That pissed me the hell off. I took in a deep breath and blurted out everything without thinking twice. “Fuck you! You want to know who I am, Marcus. Well here it goes! I am temperamental, over-sensitive, and outspoken. I’m honest! I cry at stupid love movies, and I'm a sucker for a romantic novel. I don’t allow people to walk all over me, I have trust issues, and I have insecurities. I’ve slept with four men in my entire life! And the one thing I don’t do is take shit from men who try to act like they’re better than me as if they don’t have any hidden skeletons! I’m not keeping shit hidden, how ‘bout you? You can fuck off. I'll find my own way home. Have a nice fucking life!” - Mia” 74 people liked it
