Katie's husband (Ron) leaves her for another woman. A young 20 and previous student of his. Katie and Ron haven't been able conceive and there sexual relationship has become clincial-just for procreation. All intimacy and communication is gone! Katie is devestated, but handles herself very well infront of Ron. Especailly, since Ron got this other chic he is leaving Katie for, PREGNANT! WHAT?! At least, so he thought. haha!!

In swoops bestie Lizzie and takes Katie with her to Texas. Lizzie is goi...more
This book didn't have the build that the first one did, but it was centered around Katie who I sensed in the first book has some tension with her husband.

Then I read the sneak peak. Boy was I right.

I've almost seen this story go through fruition in real life so it was "real" to me.

In the first book Katie and her husband Ron are having problems concieving a child. Being married so long they hoped to start a family and be happy. Until Ron decides one day to cheat on Katie, then finding out his...more
Not as crazy about book 2 of the series. I just didn't buy Katie acting that way -- and I couldn't get behind Dario as a romantic lead for some reason.

The second in Mara Jacobs Worth series is a great addition to the first and revolves around Lizzie's friend Kate, who after 13 years of marriage is single again after her husband leaves her for the younger woman he got pregnant, something he and Kate have been unable to do.
Once again a well written story that puts us in the mindset of a strong yet fragile Kate who meets professional golfer Dario Luna and thinks she found a way to move on and instead finds herself pregnant after years of infertil...more
I was, quite honestly, surprised I liked this book so much. I am bored to tears by golf and don't really understand it at all. Of course I knew the story wouldn't be all golf all the time, but still I was leery. The golf aspect was woven into the story very well, giving the reader information without get too in depth that to cause the reader to tune out.

I feel the author has gotten a bit more smooth with her writing, too. The choppiness that I found in the first book in the series has started to...more

This is the second book in the series. I liked this just as much as the first if not a little more. The characters are easy to like. I especially like Dario. There is nothing like have someone whisper sweet nothings to you in another language. The author added a bit of humor to this one that i really appreciated since i love humor. The book followed the same format as the first book. The first 80% of the book is them figuring out they want to be together but not actually telling each other. Then...more
Katie Lipton has always been considered the "pretty one". She married her high school sweetheart but her life has not been sweet. Her marriage is over, her husband cheated on her and now is waiting for his new baby to be born with someone much younger than Katie.
The only thing Katie has wanted was to be a mother, but years of trying without success has hurt her deeply.
When Lizzie offers a trip to consider a new candidate for her company, she can't refuse. To her surprise, golfer Dario Luna is th...more

Before i read this book here's what i mew about Golf...boring and for stuck up peolpe!!!
And here's what i know about Golf...yes its full of snotty people, but some off them have a sense of humor...
Many books have quotes in the beginning of each chapter, mainly by famous writers but this book has something way better...black humor quotes! Love them!!!

Worth the Drive is book two in The Worth series by Mara Jacobs. I did enjoy this read very much, but do have to say that it didn't hold quite the thrall over me as book one.

Katie Lipton was always "the pretty one" in her small group, a label she hated, but couldn't ever shake. It wasn't because she didn't know she was exceptionally pretty. She did, but she also knew she was so much more, had so much more to offer that people never realized or ignored. For example, her mothering nature wa...more

SO CUTE WHN Dario met his dad :)
I really enjoyed this book. It's a while since I read the first in the series and it was perfect to curl up with over a cold weekend. This book picks up Katie post break-up from Rob (it can be read standalone). She's single but lonely and hurt. She goes on a golf PR weekend with her friend, Lizzie and meets a golfer she's admired for a number of years called Dario. I really liked Dario's character, Spanish, cool, collected but quite taken with Katie. I'm looking forward to reading the third in t...more
Ok I was not as into this one as I was with Worth The Weight. I felt like it just keep repeating over and over how they didn't know if the baby was his or if she really wanted him to be in the picture at all. I just feel that it was mostly fluff and could have been cut down or something else added to it. It felt like something was missing. It was very predictable and I had everything figured out when Katie slept with Dario the first time. I will read Worth The Fall just to finish out the series...more

always talk to whoever you are with. we are not mindreaders. we need to hear those fussy words out loud so don't hold back. say I LOVE YOU IS ALOT EASIER THAN TRYING TO READ HIS MIND. SO TALK TO EACH OTHER AND LISTEN. great story grad characters. love it.

This book wasn't as strong as the first in the series, but I like the trend of taking an already familiar character and introducing them as the next lead in the series.

There was too much - "Okay, I'm just going to jump in here with you and see where you take this..." for my taste. I felt my suspension of disbelief being worked pretty strongly. Maybe I'm becoming better able to see the 'formula' of the books I'm reading. But I did enjoy seeing characters from the first book in the series again. A...more
I was a little frustrated with the lack of communication, between characters, that drives this story. I did like the personality of the people overall, especially the male lead. He definitely isn't written as an alpha but I was drawn to him none the less.
Loved this one! I liked reading about the characters on the first book of the series and the development on this one. Since I'm of Spanish descent, I got a kick out of Dario Luna, a Spanish golfer. Katie was desperate to have a baby and her obsession helped to end her current marriage. Then she accompanied her sister Lizzie to a golf tournament and met Dario. Sparks flew, they had a one night stand with consequences and the story begins. I liked how Ron starts out like the villain and at the end...more
Book #2 in the "Worth" series. Worth the Weight was number 1. At the end of the first book, you get the first chapter of the next book. Clever move because it worked. I had to buy this one too. I enjoyed the first book and was truly drawn into what happens to the characters next. In this book, Liz's friend, Katie tags along with her to a golf course to meet with a client when Katie falls for one of the golfers. Sounds a little cheesy, but again, the author makes you care about the characters so...more
What I like about this book is that Ron saw his mistakes. But I was kinda mad with Katie also since it takes two in a relationship and when Ron is trying to reach out she shuts him out! At least she has friends as her outlet for her frustration. Also, I might understand why Ron stray but doesn't mean I condone it. I hate cheaters. NO EXCUSES!!!!

They could have patch things up. Ron and Katie's marriage but when you enter into a new relationship and spend more Quality Time with that someone "feel...more

3.5 stars. Another good read, I did struggle with Dario, but that could just be me.
it was a nice story, slow moving romance, very beta male, it was ok.
Katie's and Dario's story is a bumpy one. And I did get exasperated with both of them, in turn or at the same times, for all those things they end up not voicing and that almost lead them to fall apart.
I'm not sure I enjoyed it as much as the first, nonetheless it was good getting to know Katie better, as it was revisiting Lizzie and Al.
I likes that Ron was not portrait as that simplistic jerk stereotype, since sometimes things are not exactly B&W, there's all those greys in between.

I'll be...more
These books are good but REALLY need an epilogue!!!
Cute book, not as good as the first one, but still enjoyed.

Another great story in this series! Love it!
Good story..but it had potentials to be more enjoyable
Great second book in the series. It followed up on what was happening to the main characters from the previous book along with telling the story of the main characters in the current book. Started on book 3 and it is the same way and just as good so far. I have heard there will be a 4th book to come in this series so I can not wait.

Absolutely loved this 2nd book in the Worth series of books. Mara Jacobs has a great way with words and you can't help but to feel like your in the story. Katie and Dario are awesome characters. Every woman can feel Katie's heart break and to see her heal and find love again. I can't wait to read the 3rd book in the series.
I really loved the resolution to their story...even though I hate golf and was less than thrilled about the characters (although her story was a good one I just didn't care for them together or at least couldn't use it to fantasize about). This is a great series to enjoy on a lazy afternoon
I actually had to make the font smaller on my iPad to read this one at the gym. There is nothing like a romance novel describing a woman's lustful glances at a man's forearms to make you feel like laughing out loud in the middle of a workout.
