I knew from page one I was going to like Chloe Carpenter. Funny, witty, and smart, she makes a great lead. After a life-threatening accident as a teenager leaves her with the strange ability to be able to communicate with animals, Chloe takes a job caring for animals at a wildlife park. Chloe is the type of girl who knows what she wants…at least she thinks she does. The day oh-so-sexy Zane shows up as the park's new vet, Chloe's world is turned upside down. With Zane's arrival strange things als ...more

What a book. Because of the varying layers to this book, I've decided to outline the things I enjoyed most:

Talking to Animals
I've always wanted to be able to do the whole "animal communication" thing (even better would be to master all of Chloe's gained skills) but the talking to animals part was what drew me into the premise of the book from the start.

Loved Zane! Chole, I had a hard time dealing with. To me she seemed somewhat bratty and annoyingly difficult. Although I couldn't blame her too much. A mate she didn't ask for, a smitten vampire, and an evil someone after her for her particular talents, would make any girl a bit bitchy. An interesting twist on the typical werewolf. Will keep you turning the page

I Loved it! I was wrapped up in this story from the beginning to end. I could only walk away from it when I had no other choice.

Before I get into the reasons that I loved it, let me say that the name of the book, I Kissed a Dog, had my attention from the moment I heard it. I knew that I had to read it being the werewolf loving reader that I am. Also what about the cover? Awesome isn't it.

Okay that said, let me tell you the other reasons that I loved this story.

Werewolves, vampires and villains...oh my! Love the fresh take the author brings to the werewolf myth...a definite must read for lovers of the furry and fanged!

When I first read the title of this book I thought it was going to be one of those humorous paranormal romance books, but to my surprise it was so much more! Chloe Carpenter has always been a bit accident prone and had her fair share of near death experiences, one in particular has left her with t

This was an excellent start to a series and I was so happy to read this book!

Chloe isn't your average 24 year old. She's got some hidden talents that make life pretty interesting even before the Supernatural community starts to take notice of her. The last thing she needs is more trouble, or so she thinks! At the beginning of the book I had a little trouble connecting with Chloe. The writing was good, I just felt she was looking for any excuse to be mad at
Chloe Carpenter has a unique ability she can communicate with animals, not in words so much, but she can read the thoughts as a series of images. An ability that she doesn't really know the full extent off. Until one day she hears the thoughts of the very sexy, yet annoying (to her) newest co-worker. I liked Chloe Carpenter but her on again/off again feelings for Zane (and others) was irritating. (view spoiler) I thought she accepted the Vegas incident too readily and the next thing you know she's freaking out over something minor. She just seemed kinda mental at times. On the other hand, she's a "real" person who is clumsy as all get out and actually feints. She has hair issues ...more

It's a good thing when a book surprises you, you tend to develop this much more mature love and understanding for the characters and plot. I personally have a tendency to become infatuated with books that completely dismisses your presumptions - well only if it has been executed correctly.

I Kissed a Dog starts off light and easy but fret not: if a thought provoking and fast pace plot is what you wish for then this novel will effortlessly bestow it upon you. The story stars Chloe Carpenter, a wom

My Review of I Kissed a Dog

Wow, this book really got me hooked. The characters are likable, right away. Chloe , the heroine is awesome, and a different type of heroine we usually see. I liked her right away. She has this amazing unique gift that enables her to talk to animals, and understand their thoughts. Which is great, because the alpha male Zane, who is all that is hotness, is a werewolf, so they can do this mind-messaging as they like to call it. Its pretty cool.

This one grew on me. Started as a three but the more I thought about it then it turned into a 4.

It has been awhile since I have read any paranormal books besides of course the BDB series so when given the opportunity I thought sure what the heck. This looked like it could be a good read.

I had no expectations of this book and I think sometimes that makes the journey so much better.

In this book there was a lot of information and I think it was well done with all the history and development into t

Ok. I must say that I love this book’s title. It is the most descriptive title imaginable. It is also straight, to the point, and very catching. I would have read this book just based on that. Of course, the book itself was awesome too.

This book is so easy to read. There is a natural flow to the writing. Nothing is forced or dumbed down. It flows naturally, the way that one would speak. It is also very detailed. Every little piece of information is there without every breaking the flow of the st

I was pleasantly surprised with Carol Van Atta’s twist on the genre; it is both refreshing and totally captivating. She has created a world with a whole passel of supernatural creatures from werewolves, vampires, to mutants and everything in between. The supporting cast in the book is very well fleshed out with distinctive personalities and relationships to Chloe. I Kissed a Dog more than met my expectations – I was very invested in the outcome of her story. Although this story had a very satisf ...more

This book is about a woman, Chloe Carpenter, falling in love and coming to grips with the supernatural realities and conflicts that come with the new romance.

The characters are real to life, which is both a plus and a minus as sometimes they can get annoying and opinions on actions differ, but that is life after all.

There were a number of typos; however, I was reading an advanced copy. Therefore, these should be more or less ironed out by final printing.

Ok, it has to be said, i think i loved this book from the start! Books that start great normally end up being great, and this was. I totally enjoyed it!

Chloe is our female for the books journey. She has a special "gift" (or pain in the ass- depending what day it is!). She works at the local wildlife farm, where she uses her gift - she can talk to animals. Yup, you read right - she can talk telepathically to them, which is a great asset for the job - she can ask why they're agitated, what the pai

“I kissed a Dog by Carol Van Atta is an engaging, witty, Paranormal Romance with a hunky shape shifter hero, an alluring (but dangerous) vampire adversary, and a spunky heroine who keeps them both on their toes. Well written and fun to read, this exciting tale is full of adventure. If you like Terry Spear or Molly Harper, you will enjoy Carol Van Atta.”

For me, I Kissed a Dog is one of the most thrilling, entertaining, and mysterious reads of 2012! From beginning to end, I couldn't get enough of this story.

Atta takes us into the life of Chloe Carpenter-a beautiful, smart woman that is talented in more ways than one. And although a bit stubborn and strong willed, underneath the outgoing, witty exterior, she is real, shares the same fears as any regular person, and struggles with figuring out who she is and what she wants.

Carol Van Atta puts a whole new twist on werewolves, that no author to my knowledge has done before.

After an accident that nearly claimed Chloe Carpenters life, she is left with a sixth sense: animal mind reading. She works at a little zoo, where she helps the veterinarians and zookeepers find out what is wrong with the animals, by seeing into their minds and finding the problem. In comes Zane Marshal, new in town, and d

I picked this title up for two reasons. The first was because the title alone intrigued me. I mean seriously, “I Kissed a Dog”…yeah, I just had to know why anyone would want to kiss a canine. I mean come on, us cats are much better kissers, believe me, and that’s not only because we don’t slobber all over you when we do kiss. We are much more refined and better mannered than any dog, any day. So I had to know what was up. And finding out that the m
