IT GOT UNDER MY SKIN

Marlo"Lola" La Pointe works as her brothers personal assistant. He is a member of the band "Pleasure Pointe". The lead singer Tobias and Lola have a love hate relationship. The band is on tour, and Lola and Tobias are constantly at each others throats. But do they have deeper feelings for one another?

I really wanted to like this story. But although the premise seemed interesting, the execution was not so good. The characters are very one dimensional. The dialogue is awkward a...more

This book started with an interesting idea, one I thought I would like. However the author needs to work on her craft quite a bit. First off, I lost count of the cliche phrases in the first few dozen pages. Lots and lots of cliche phrases lifted from other stories. Also, every plot-line punch was so well telegraphed that it was hardly worth trudging through the cliche swamp to get there. Interestingly as the book went on the cliches lessened and the punches were less telegraphed.

This is an aut...more

It was difficult getting through this book. I did it, determined to get it all read in hopes that at some point it would get better. The storyline had such great potential but the author just didn't get it pulled together right.
Having Marlo the always supportive sister (to one of the band members) & Tobias the rebel in such close proximity since they are on a tour bus had the makings of a great story. I started to get the connection between the two but then it seemed the story would pull off...more

I decided to try this book after reading Thoughtless and Effortless by S.C. Stephens. I was on the hunt for another hot rocker. Tobias is your typical lead singer that is all about being with different women. It really didn't take long to figure out that he was that way to get a rise out of Marlo (Lola). Lola goes through several mishaps that Tobias saves her from bringing them closer together. We also meet Dusty who is Lolas brother and best friend. I was really hoping that there would be anoth...more

I purchased this book several months ago because it was $0.99 and seemed like an easy read. By the time made through 80% of the book I came to terms with the fact that I didn't care what happened to the characters. The plot had potential, but the writing and editing was so poor it was almost impossible to read. The main characters were shallow, immature and had spontaneous tantrums.

The story suffered from a common blunder in self-published novels, which was telling the emotions of the character...more

I enjoy the books about the love interest of rock bands, who can't say that at one point in their life they didn't have some fantasy about running off with a rock star.

This is a nice love story and I did really like Tobias however I have to admit that at times Lola really got on my nerves. I am not into the whole, I am going to make a decision and then blame someone else for my decision, which is what Lola went through in the end of the book. However, even after that I did really enjoy the book...more

3.5 Stars

Wow, not sure what I expected, but it certainly caught me by surprise :] It was on the tamer side regardless of the beginning when they introduced Tobias the hot-man whore ... Love the way the author portrayed the love-hate relationship.

Main reason for the 3.5 stars ~ The book flowed, but summarized over parts where I wanted more detail and be able to direct, but it worked.

I liked how we also got to see a part of Dusty's story. Marlo a.k.a Lola, was cute most of the times but then she...more

I really tried to like this novel but it dragged on too much, not really going anywhere. I do hope--for those who end up finishing this novel, since I stopped reading in the middle of Chapter 13--that it has a nice ending because I did think that Marlo and Tobias would have made a good couple. =0/

I'm not usually one to complain about $0.99 Kindle books, but this one got "under my skin" in a really bad way. I should have DNF'd it when Tobias screamed in a sleeping Marlo's face at 2%. I just didn't care about their HEA because they were both extremely annoying and childish!

An easy read. The intimate scenes were ok, nothing to really blush at. There was some jumping around and I felt rushed in a few places but overall a good read

I swear, this was like reading bad Justin Bieber fanfiction.

The story is rushed, the characters are shallow, and it could have used a lot more editing.

This is really poorly written - so much so that I had to stop reading after a couple of chapters. I can't even believe I made it that far.

I can take a well written book with holes in plot, but bad writing irks me. This one was actually hard to finish.

Loved the story!!! Fell in love with Tobias right from the start. I loved that thr story had love and drama.

Wasn't bad, wish there was a little more back story to some of the characters though.

I have never given a book one star before. Enough said.

Too much telling didn't connect with the characters at all.
Larissa
…I just love a good love/hate relationship. Great book :)!

I really liked the story, but think it would have been better from alternative point of view rather than a narrator, it was strange reading it like that you couldn't connect with the characters because you were never really in their heads!!

I like the idea, but I felt like it needed editing.
