I'll admit it: Tempting the Player was far better than J. Lynn's first foray into the world of adult fiction, Tempting the Best Man, but it wasn't quite enough to rock my boat. In their entirety, Lynn's novels are entertaining... and that's about it. The sequel to Tempting the Best Man does not disappoint. There is so much to love about this book it's hard to really pin-point where to begin.

The premise of this book is so fun. In the public eye, Chad is this bad boy player, but in reality, most of that is fiction. He's told he needs to clean up his image to get the contract extension he wants. The way this goes down is comical, but I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil anything.

Well hello there, Chad Gamble. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Oh, Jennifer Armentrout…umm…err…I mean Ms. J. Lynn, you never cease to amaze me. Each time this author comes out with something new, it’s a must read for me. This was no different. I love JLA, but when she writes as J. Lynn, I know I’m in for a hot and sexy ride. Gahh!! I just LOVE the Gamble brothers! Chad & Bridget’s story is predictable, but I still love it. It’s fun and sexy and I enjoyed every minute of it.

“Are you sure that’s what you want, Bridget? Because once I start, I won’t stop again. I will take you – take you so hard that every breath afterward is only going to remind you of me.”

Chad is a ridiculously hot and sexy All-Star Baseball player for the Nationals. He’s also a player on and off the field. His reputation with the ladies and for his partying ways is well known and well publicized. Unfortunately his reputation is getting in the way of his career. The Nationals wants him to clean up his act or risk his contract from being renewed. Chad does not want to leave his city. His family, friends and his life is in this city. He wants his contract renewed more than anything, even putting up with the Nationals’ Publicist, Alana Gore, who was hired to help clean up Chad’s act. Ms. Gore’s suggestion: Form a fake relationship with Chad’s latest desire, Bridget Rodgers.

Bridget does not consider herself beautiful. Although she’s a beautiful soul and as sweet as can be, she doesn’t seem to think too highly of herself. However, Chad sees differently. She’s a classic beauty and has curves in all the right places. Chad was immediately smitten with her. Bridget can’t understand why Chad is so interested in her. She’s not skin and bones, like all his other previous conquests. No. She won’t be like one of Chad’s other girls. She’s stronger than that and refuses to fall at his feet. However when Ms. Gore practically blackmails her into seeing Chad again, she has no choice but to pretend this chemistry between them is fake. It is all fake, right?

There were no surprises in this story, although the way it was written, I wouldn’t have known it was written by JLA. To me, it was different from her previous work. It didn’t have as much laughs and playful times as her previous J. Lynn story, but it did have more steam and sexual tension, which was fine by me. I loved Bridget & Chad’s relationship. They were hot together and I just love stories where the mighty, sexy player falls, especially when the heroine is lovable like Bridget. I love J. Lynn's stories and I love this series. I can’t wait to read the next Gamble brother story, which I’m going to assume will involve Chad and Ms. Gore. Just call it a hunch, but these two had something cooking. Can’t wait for the next installment. Loved this!

Addicted from the get go, this book had me at 'chapter one'.
I love how we get the POV from both leading characters. Chad the playboy handsome sportsman and loveable insecure Bridget.
This book had me melting from their first encounter. I was excited to read this book after thoroughly enjoying the authors first in the series and it most definitely did not disappoint.

Sigh. J.Lynn, always impresses me. Everything, I love it all.

We have our pro baseball player, who is godlike. He is beautiful and a total player. He has girls just dangling to him.

Oh, Lordy. Just when I thought I loved Maddie and Chase, Bridget and Chad came and stole their thunder.

Compared to Chase in Tempting the Best Man, I think Chad beat Chase on the sexy scale...big time. He's possessive and intense, whereas Chase was more playful. I fell even more in love with the Gamble brothers this time around, and I can't wait for the third book in the series.

If you want to relax with a fun, easy, steamy read, this is the series for you.

And someone does, his manager! His baseball manager brings in a publicist to straight up his image and boy does she have her work cut out for her. When both of their reputations and jobs are put on the line, things get serious for the publicist. Chad is forced into a situation he’s not ready for, well that he thinks. When Chad meets Bridget things don’t go as he plans. Bridget isn’t the typical girl the paparazzi are use at seeing Chad with and Chad is quite intrigued by her. Bridget is a very beautiful, bold, confident, curvy woman and I absolutely love her character. She’s just like any other person in the world with a lot of the same problems, student loads, debt and a job that she loves but don’t pay enough. Her friend Shell convinces her to go out with her for just 1 night of fun to de stress. Shell scores an invite to a private club that caters to curtain group of people. Shell promises Bridget “Tonight is going to be a night you never forget. Mark my words.” And boy was it ever!!!

Jennifer L Armentrout is by far my favorite Author. I have many of her books signed by her and there isn’t a book she has released that I haven’t read along with her pov’s/short stories. She is so freakin epic. You’re going to pick up one of her books and understand why all her fans adore her. I thought there is no way I could love Tempting the Player as much as I loved Tempting the Best Man but man did she out do herself on this one. Chase was amazing but Chad wowzers I don’t think you can get any hotter!

Este libro fue totalmente divertido, con dos personajes muy carismáticos, cuya química era palpable. Me encantó cómo evolucionaron a lo largo del libro, cómo creció su cariño entre ellos, y sí, el clímax fue totalmente cliché!!! pero lo me encantó! Disfruté todas y cada una de las paginas de este libro. El final es tan dulce y el próximo libro tan prometedor, que mejor no me ilusiono.

Si tienen la oportunidad de leer estos libros, se los recomiendo. Puede que el primero no sea a gran cosa, pero se puede pasar el rato. No se necesita leer el primero para comprender el segundo, pero a mí no me gusta leerlos en desorden. Y el siguiente libro: Tempting the Bodyguard es la historia del hermano mayor, Chandler, con un personaje que aparece en el segundo libro. No queda mucho para el 2013, por suerte.

This installment of The Gamble Brothers was much more erotic and sensual than the first one, I have to say. It definitely left me squirming a la Fifty Shades of Grey. And, boy, was I not expecting that.

First the cove: WOWSER! That is one hot cover. It pretty much grabbed me, just as the cover to the first book did. And I was for sure feeling it throughout the book. It's sensual and seductive and that pretty much sums up the whole story line of this book!

As for the characters, we are re-introduced to Chase and Maddison, Chad and Chandler in this book. But now we also meet Bridget, Maddie's feisty executive assistant who likes to keep her distance from just about everyone. She's funny and tough. She has her own sense of fashion. She's loyal and witty and knows she's prettier than the average girl, but doesn't think her curvier figure fits what men really want. I love that Lynn took a jump into a woman who is not "perfect." She's curvy and just a bit "overweight." It's great to see this kind of character introduced as a strong woman. She's completely realistic and being a more curvy woman myself, I was really able to connect with her.
Chad, well, what can I say, this Gamble brother certainly thinks highly of himself.I really loved his character much more than Chase. He's a baseball playing player. He can have any woman he wants, and they certainly do throw themselves at him for sure. But he has a hole in him that needs to be filled, even if he doesn't want to admit it at first. He's used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. And his reputation is causing a big stir with his manager and the team. He's sexy, funny and loyal. He has a body to die for and he knows it. And oh what a dirty mind. He certainly has a bit of the Christian Grey ring in this story, which really just kept me wanting more of him!
The supporting cast is just that, the main characters certainly stay at the forefront of this story. And we watch them develop and grow throughout the story.

The storyline centers around the relationship between Bridget and Chad. After a night of passion, where Bridget walks out, the two cross paths unexpectedly. Chad knows what he wants, and that's Bridget, but she doesn't want to get involved. Until one day they are caught on camera as Chad's publicist is trying to remake his image. Now they have to play boyfriend and girlfriend, which neither of them really wants (at least so they say on the outside). But they are totally drawn to each other and J. Lynn does not skimp on the sexual tension between these two. Nor does she skimp on showing us some of their more passionate moments together. Lynn builds and builds and builds until you think you might burst! It's no wonder I could not put this book down and read it in just a few hours (while at work! shhhhh...). As with the first book, Bridget and Chad both completely doubt that the other person wants anything to do with them. They waiver back and forth between wanting each other and feeling they are no good for each other. Lynn builds a sizzling hot romance that keeps you squirming in your seat.

The writing, as always, is flawless. Lynn has a way of making her words flow right off the page and into your brain. It's like your physically connected to what is going on as you absorb every single detail she puts out there. Lynn truly knows how to develop her characters and world so that they don't let you go. She is the queen of sexual tension. I am convinced there is nothing she can't take and make work to her advantage! Lynn is able to break out of the YA genre and grab the adult reader with her erotic twists and turns.

This one gets 5 stars from me. If you are a fan of contemporary romance with some erotic side bars (ok, with a lot of erotic side bars! LOL!) a la Fifty Shades, then run (don't walk) and get this book. There will be no disappointment, I promise you that!(less)

So it seems like I'll never be able to get enough from the fabulous JLA. I swear she can write the phone book and I would read every word nonstop because that's how addicting I find her writing to be! And while I prefer her YA books to her adult ones, simply because that is my usual genre, Tempting the Player was a fantastic read.

I already knew I would love this one because:
1) JLA wrote it
2) It's about a sexy Gamble brother and
3) He's a baseball player!! My all time favorite sport!!

These Gamble books are such fun reads! They do what they're suppose to do, keeping me entertained and causing me to fan myself over all the heat coming off the pages. I really loved Bridget and Chad's story even more than Madison and Chase's. It was hotter and steamier... Just the way I like it!

Since I enjoyed reading Tempting the best man and the Gamble brothers intrigued me so I couldn wait to read Chads story. I really liked Bridget and Chad. This was such a fun read! I'd already fallen for the Gamble brothers in Tempting The Best Man ~ but WOW, Chad was so great! He's a playboy superstar baseball player, who has been playing so hard his team is exasperated with his antics. AND he's just enough of a dominant to be delicous!!

Bridget (think Garcia off of Crimnal Minds here) is totally not Chad's normal skinny, model perfect chick.

Ce second tome est d’ailleurs totalement dans la lignée du précédent. Rappelons que le point commun de ces livres est le frères Gamble, dont le plus jeune a convolé en juste noce dans le précédent épisode. C’est au tour de Chad, le champion de base ball de l’équipe de Washington de trouver chaussure à son pied et de quelle façon !

Chad est un dragueur invétéré qui a une réputation lamentable. Il passe son temps à faire la une des journaux à scandale et désole ses dirigeants qui vont finir par le sommer de changer son attitude. Entre temps, Chad a fait la connaissance d’une amie et collaboratrice de sa nouvelle belle-soeur, Bridget et l’attraction a été immédiate mais étouffée dans l’oeuf par la jeune femme. Evidemment, on sent venir le seul rebondissement du roman, tout est totalement prévisible mais on se régale tout de même.

Car J. Lynn a un ton inimitable qui vous colle le sourire aux lèvres dès les premières lignes. Le ton est décontracté, le vocabulaire familier et hyper contemporain. On sourit des ficelles pourtant pas forcément fines qu’elle utilise. Ainsi, Chad grogne en voyant son frère roucouler se promettant que jamais il ne sera aussi ridicule mais évidemment, il ne perd rien pour attendre. Chad est un garçon viril à qui il faut peu de choses pour démarrer et à force de le comparer aux cervidés, on finit par se dire qu’il faudrait se pencher sur la sexualité de ces bestioles ! Bref, on sourit souvent mais pas seulement. Car J. Lynn déborde de tendresse pour ses personnages et si Chad est le type même du séducteur pris à son propre piège, Bridget est un peu celle que nous pourrions être avec un physique passé de mode, des complexes, des problèmes d’argent et un gros chat comme compagnon ! Quel bonheur de la voir fondre devant ce type arrogant, séduisant et charmeur, sans pour autant être faible ou stupide.

Le tout se déroule sous les yeux éberlués des amis et membres de la famille de ces deux là avec une mention spéciale pour une conseillère en communication qui pourrait bien revenir un jour dans un autre roman.

Il n’y a pas une fausse note dans ce livre sans prétention aucune sinon de vous apporter la dose d’humour, de tendresse et de sensualité promis par une comédie romantique. C’est remarquablement efficace et réussi et à consommer sans aucune modération.(less)

The main plot was watching a relationship develop - with conflicts occurring and being resolved - which is good. But the conflicts were my problem. They are attracted to each other and both want sex. There are three sex scenes which are started with one person being pleasured, then all of a sudden Bridget calls a halt and leaves. Each time it’s for a stupid reason.

Then we have another conflict. Chad asked Bridget why she agreed to be his fake girlfriend. Instead of the truth, Bridget lied and told Chad something insulting. Why the lie? There was no reason. As a result he was offended and “the playfulness was gone from his movements.”

Bottom line. I thought the author had a good writing voice, but she didn’t have anything to write about. The conflicts were contrived and did not make sense. It would have been so much better to have an interesting character with interesting reasons for doing things.

As to Chad, his character didn’t change. He was more of an object. He had lots of women in the past and liked to play. Bridget is the current interest and he likes to play (have sex) with her. Don’t know why he decided to marry her.

I thought I enjoyed reading Chase's story, believe me it was NOTHING compared to Chad. Readers are first introduced to Chad in the first book in this series 'Tempting The Best Man' and while he's not in there very much since obviously the focus of the story was on his brother Chase, the parts that he was in made me laugh and I knew his story would be great. LOVE THIS BAD BOY

Holy Hotdogs!

Okay, let it just be said that I had no idea what to expect with this book. I’d read some of Miss Armentrout’s YA books and wasn’t so sure how I would like her contemporary romances.

At this moment I’m thanking my lucky stars that I’m a book reviewer for Romancing the Book. This romance had everything: Great dialogue, strong plot, feisty characters, and steamy scenes that make a girl sweat.

Bridget is a semi-overweight girl. She isn’t the most confident thing on the planet but at the same time, she’s comfortable in her own skin. She meets Chad, famous baseball pitcher who plays for the Nationals and immediately her life goes off kilter. She knows him by association and knows his whore-like reputation like the back of her hand, I mean everyone does. He’s beautiful and she can’t help but be attracted to him. When her livelihood is threatened she has no choice but to go along with a scheme and pretend to be his girlfriend. Though, she isn’t really pretending. He brings out both the best and the worst in her. I found her character heartbreaking! She sounded gorgeous but she just couldn’t see how a curvy woman like herself could be attractive to someone so famous. I kept wanting to bang her on the side of the head. But it’s such a testament to Jennifer’s writing and how she was really able to capture a woman’s insecurities.

Chad was…wow holy hotness… he was a cocky piece of work that’s for sure. It was a tie between wanting to strangle him and having to scold myself for lusting. He was such a well written character. I love my men cocky and Jennifer did a great job with this without pushing it too far. He thinks the world is his, because basically, let’s be honest, it is. But, he wants Bridget. She’s different than the girls he’s usually dated but he has no idea she’s been dating him out of a bribe. He thinks it really is the fact that he’s hot. I loved watching his character change and develop over the course of the book.

All in all, the book was incredible. Such a fantastic weekend read. I’m so impressed with Jennifer’s writing and will totally be buying the first book in this series.

The bad: I’m a bit of a prude, I’ll admit. I don’t mind cursing at all, but the f-bomb repeatedly dropped kind of wears on me, as well as graphic sex scenes. I mean, they were hot, don’t get me wrong. I think Jennifer does a great job keeping it from turning into an erotica romance, but just slightly.

The amazing: Character development. Hands down, one of the hardest things for authors to nail, and she soared right through it. Round of applause for Jennifer, she has proved she can basically write anything. Well, well, done.(less)

Bridget and her insecurities, notices his phone has gotten a text from what looks like a Victoria Secret Model while he is cleaning up in the bathroom and decides to read the text and then leaves. For me that felt pushed so they had a reason to not finish what they started so it will continue with the storyline later on. I know it is a novel and not real but lets try to make it somewhat realistic. Really who goes to a sexy man's house for some bedroom action and then snoop on his phone.

The story does then drag on for awhile until they meet again some time later while her friend and his brother from book 1 invites them both to lunch with out knowing these two were almost together. Then it gets good again. He has been thinking about her and kisses her but not knowing that someone took a picture of them. Then after that it started getting boring again. Basically the scenes with the lady that was hired to be in charge of getting his bad boy reputation taken care of were boring and long scenes. Could of done with those being cut back a little.

For me the book really does not pick up again until they both agree to be a fake couple. Them getting to know each other is playful and fun when they are asking each other questions. He is sweet at times with a bit of Alpha Male attitude. He is sexy when he is dominate in the bedroom. When ever he tells her she is beautiful it is hot and will make any woman wish you had a man telling you are beautiful the way he does it. Loved how the Christmas scene was played out. What he does for her is a swoon worthy moment.

I do miss some of the brother sarcastic moments. Felt they were not as much as they were in book 1. I wish some of the boring stuff was cut short and added more with the secondary characters. Tempting The Player was so easy at times to put down and then at times could not put it down. I am only liking this series but really want to love it. I will still continue on with it and hopefully one novel will grab my attention from the beginning and hold on to.

Wow now this book totally and utterly surprised me!
I was laughing my butt off and I literally mean that.
And holy hell the sexual tension and chemistry hit critical sex overload.
The comical scenes were priceless!
Just irrevocably in love with this book!

Has a huge thing for bright flashy colours.
Auburn and striking green eyes, so she was very exotic looking.
Not stick model thin - which I admire - but she actually has curves and a booty.

Ok so I gave this four stars but I wanted to give it five stars all the way up to the end. Seriously, I thought about writing my review early before I finished and I was ready to give it five stars but then the ending happened and lets just say that it came too fast. There was no lead up to the ending, no negotiation between the two to fix what was wrong, just the ending. I just thought it felt rushed and a bit conflated. It could have used more finesse.

Chad is a professional baseball player. He is known to have a different woman or three every night. The club is coming down hard on him and demands that he works with a publicist to change his image, or they are not going to renew his contract. Bridget is the girl who winds up, not by her choice exactly, but by blackmail to “take one for the team” and help Chad rebuild his image by pretending to be his girlfriend. As they spend time together the professional relationship lines cross into very personal ones and they both have to remember to keep their emotions in check. They have no future, they have no feelings for each other, they have no expectations….just pretend dating. That was supposed to be the plan. Unfortunately their bodies and their hearts don’t agree with this idea and eventually it’s blown to hell.

Chad and Bridget are truly electrifying together. They have lots of chemistry and it’s easy to fall in love with them. They both have their own flaws and they each have a lot of past personal history to work out, but watching them together and rooting for them to find their way through it is what keeps you completely invested.

I’ve read several books with very similar plot lines, but this one had enough variables that it really was original, fresh and exciting. Ms. Lynn does an amazing job with the character development. It’s very easy to relate to their feelings and desires. And, let me just say she knows how to write a headboard rocking, body trembling, sex scene that will leave you sweating.

If you have read book one, Tempting the Best Man, you will be happy to know that there is a lot of Chase and Madison in this book. It’s great to see more of them. They add a delicious layer of humor and fun. If you haven’t read the previous book, you won’t have any problems reading this as a standalone. There is enough detail given that you won’t question any of the situations or the characters. Honestly though, if you haven’t had a chance to start this captivating series, you are seriously missing out.

Well J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout) does it again! Tempting the Player is an amazing sequel to Tempting the Best Man. Once I started this book it was very hard to stop reading. The story was so good! Well J. Lynn (Jennifer Armentrout) does it again! Tempting the Player is an amazing sequel to Tempting the Best Man. Once I started this book it was very hard to stop reading. The story was so good! Oh, and the romance is super hot!! Like be careful you will burn yourself hot! The intimate scenes are written so well too. One of the best romances I have read.

Bridget and Chad meet at a bar and have an instant attraction. They end up back at Chad's luxurious place. I figured after their first night together she'd be ok with the whole fake relationship thing. I liked how that whole situation went down. Miss Gore did a great job saying it like it was and the blackmailing was pretty smart on her part. Bridget didn't like being forced into a relationship especially when she was kind of unnerved around the playboy. My favorite characteristic of Bridget was her sarcasm and ability to tell Chad exactly how it was was brilliant. She was a fireball and pretty perfect for Chad even if she didn't think so. I also loved her insecurities. It made it easier for me to relate to Bridget. To read about someone who was nervous about being in the nude around Chad because she wasn't a model like his other lady friends.

Moving on to the man of the story! Chad...oh Chad how can I describe him. In the beginning he was a self absorbed playboy without a care in the world. He did what he wanted when he wanted and usually with a different woman each time. His playboy attitude is not impressing his team heads. He is given an ultimatum, clean up your image or loose your contract. So Chad embarks on his fake relationship with an unhappy Bridget. Going out on appearances and dress shopping really isn't Chad's thing. But, throughout all this you see Chad change. He is actually quite a romantic. It is strange for him to actually want to do things to make Bridget happy. Especially after he learns about her family and problem at work. He is better at the whole boyfriend thing then he thinks. Will they make it through this "relationship" in one piece or will it end in pieces?? Will they be able to stay out of each others beds? The biggest question of all is, when the real reason Bridget agreed to start this "relationship" is revealed will Chad be able to look past it?

This was such a good story! I went from laughing to tears to being mad. I feel like Chad and Bridget really during the story. They changed each other without even knowing it. Jennifer Armentrout has proved once again that she is a writing machine and every book she writes is a must read!(less)
