An erotic novel of discipline, love, and surrender for the enjoyment of men and women.

This sequel to "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty," the first of Anne Rice's elegantly written volumes of erotica, continues her explicit, teasing exploration of the psychology of human desire. Now Beauty, having indulged in a secret and forbidden infatuation with the rebellious

Weird. Smut. But I admit, I read all three.

It's been a few years since I read this so I was tempted to give it only two stars but after some consideration, decided to bump it to three.

The whole premise was seductively intriguing. After finding the first book at the tiny public library I secretely hoped this and the third were available as well. There they were. On the very bottom shelf probably more read than anyone would care to admit. My bet is none of ...more

I read all three one after the other - more to get it over with than through a sense of enjoyment, but despite my reservations there was something horribly compulsive about the story. I really don't like BDSM stories - I don't mind a little bit - but not the full on Dom and sub situation. I should have known I'd have a problem with these three books but I felt I ought to read them.
Well, first off, this is erotica NOT erotic romance. I suppose I'd expected a bit of human emotion but I didn't...more

"The second novel in the erotic trilogy of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice is the continuation of the story and how Beauty and Prince Tristan, who is introduced in the end of the first novel, fair in The Village. The prospect of the novel is that the princesses and princes aren't just royal playthings but true slaves as they are given chores and manual labor in the most exotic form to complete.

What I like the most about this novel is the dual story as in the story is told two ways. T...more

As you can probably already glean from my review of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, also by Anne Rice writing as A.M. Roquelaure, I wasn't impressed with this trilogy at the outset. A big fan of Anne Rice and no stranger to erotica, I found the book to be stuck on a theme that was trite and boring. However, never one to not read anything bound between two covers if stuck in front of me, I gamely plodded on to Beauty's Punishment, the second in this erotic triad.

I liked this one much more than the first book, or maybe I should say I liked Beauty much more in this one. Here, we see her exhibit some spirit, occasionally rebelling in order to be given harsher punishments. I could relate more to this side of her. She decided not to always be obedient, perhaps knowing that by pushing back she would reach a greater level of submission than if she meekly obeyed every order. This fascinated me as much as it disturbed me, yet ultimately made me adore her more fo...more

Beauty's Punishment is the second book in Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy; I'd be lying if I didn't mention that I'm relieved that I only have one more to go. As much as I have an open mind, these stories are even a little much for me. This is not the Sleeping Beauty most of us knew an loved as children. She lives now in a much darker world where sexual depravity, slavery, and even beastiality are key components. I had written in my review of The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty that I was cu...more

I'm honestly not sure what I'm reading anymore. The writing is very eloquent, elegant even, and I suppose that's one of the reasons why Anne Rice is one of the most beloved writers of our time. However, I can't say I've enjoyed this book. The BDSM scenes are just getting way too brutal and they were definitely out of my comfort zone.

Another aspect of this book I had some trouble with was Tristan's POV. Some of the chapters are written from his POV and I didn't understand the logic beh...more

THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR UNDERAGE OR DELICATE SENSIBILITIES IN THE ROMANCE READERS FOLLOWING!!!

IF YOU ARE NOT 18+ OR HAVE STRICT VIEWS ON EROTIC RELATIONS/RELATIONSHIPS - DO NOT READ!!

Surprisingly, this becomes not the tale of just Beauty, but of Beauty AND Tristan. Albeit, I wouldn't participate in many of these activities, it is quite arousing in it's psychology of the need to be challenged in subjugation and the raw acceptance in the pain of arousal and "punishment"...more

This sequel to "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty", the first of Anne Rice's elegantly written volumes of erotica, continues her explicit, teasing exploration of the psychology of human desire.

Beauty, having indulged in a secret and forbidden infatuation with the rebellious slave Prince Tristan, is sent away from the Satyricon-like world of the castle. Once again Rice's fabulous tale of pleasure and pain dares to explore the most primal and well-hidden desires of the human h...more

Beauty's Punishment is the sequel to The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. The second in the trilogy and just as full of bondage and kink as the first.

It has been almost a year since I read The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty and I figured, why not read the next in the series. I can't really say I loved the first but I was intrigued in finding out where our poor innocent Beauty's adventure would take her.

**Some spoilers**

This is the same review I gave for the 1st one..."For those that don't know A.N. Roquelaure is one of Anne Rice's pen names. I'm normally not an Erotica reading, but I absolutely adored Anne Rice's beautiful writing style the Vampire Cronicles so when I saw this book and the second one at a yard sale I jumped at it. The book is not your typical sexy steam erotica style book. It's more full of beatings, rape and sadism with a few little sexy scrumptious bits thrown in. I'm not easily offend...more

Porn with a "fairy-tale" story line. If you like B&D/S&D, this should be right up you alley.

I bumped into this at a library book sale (the audio version, no less!), and since a friend gave me another one of her books, I knew what it was probably like. It was even more extreme than I expected, and I reacted with a sort of repulsion/fascination. I listened to all of it, and enjoyed some aspects of it, but I didn't pursue any others in the series. I like good smut, but writing ...more

Blimey. Just when I thought that the bottom of the depravity barrel had been well and truly scraped by The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment removes the bottom of the barrel altogether and sinks to a new low! Beauty is banished from being the Prince's exclusive slave at the castle, and is carted off (literally, in a caged cart, naked, hands bound behind back, bit in mouth, squished against a bunch of other identically clad rebellious slaves) to the village. Here she is sold off ig...more

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS. I DON'T CARE HOW HORNY YOU ARE, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU LOVE ANIMALS.

This book was freaking weird. And not weird in a good way. Anne Rice, though I have a sort of love/hate relationship with her, has a sick and twisted mind. It's a very uncomfortable place to be in. I didn't read this because it was porn. I get bored of porn easily. I read this because I heard about how freakingly strange this was, and this was A...more

I thought this series was an imaginative take on the sleeping beauty fairy tale. It is so dark. The hard core sex element is not for the faint of heart.

This was my favorite of the three, I found the finale very unsatisfying.

The first time I read it was was SHOCKED, I tell you, shocked! But as the years go by it gets less shocking. I was also shocked when a friend came over one day and saw it on my shelf and she exclaimed, "Oh! I love those books!" At least it took away some of my youth's embarrassment at her focusing at it on my bookshelf. Years later, it was hilarious to me when a co-worker at Macy's was reading it in ...more

If you are embarrassed easily or the faint at heart do not read! Also not for those under the age of 18 lol But if you are of age and have a twisted out look on life then you will highly enjoy this book!

This is the second book in the twisted tale of sleeping beauty. She has been banished from the castle to a town where the commoners now decide your daily fates or shall I say punishments and rewards.

I did enjoy this book but not as much as the first. The one thing that was be...more

This is the second book in the Sleeping Beauty trilogy and again, if BDSM erotic is not your cup of tea, DON'T READ THIS SERIES.

Now, if you do enjoy BDSM erotica, join Beauty and Tristan in the Village. The Village makes the things that happened in the Castle seem like child's play. The Village really seems to want to break down all of their inhibitions and leave them completely malleable. This fires Beauty's natural rebellion and things...more

In the second novel of the Beauty series, Beauty, having indulged in a forbidden infatuation with Prince Tristan, finds herself plucked from her Prince and shoved into the grueling world that is simply known as “the village.” In return that she is punished most severely for her impudence, she is auctioned off to a woman who owns an inn. She is later claimed by a brazenly handsome Captain of the Guard. In this new maze Beauty continues her education in love, cruelty, dominance, submission, and te...more

This second installment in Ms. Rice's erotic take on the Sleeping Beauty story left me a little disappointed actually. While certainly titilating and full of highly charged sexual imagery the story itself is somewhat lacking. It picks up right where the first book, "The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty" left off, with Beauty on her way to The Village to be auctioned off. The tale then unfolds and the whole book covers only three days in which both Beauty and Prince Tristan both experienc...more

Continuous Spanking

This book only just managed to scrape its way up to a three star rating from me because of the closing chapters, which enticingly prepare the reader for the final volume in this trilogy. Most of the book is a quite tedious repetition of beatings of naked slaves. Although, I have to admit that I quite enjoyed it as what I would classify as light reading.

The naked princess and princesses, including Beauty, endure a series of beatings, spankings and thrashings, ...more

When I was child, I was sort of disappointed with the endings of fairytales. But I got my answer and yes I liked it. Sleeping Beauty ends with kiss, right? Prince reached the tower and kissed the sleeping virgin to wake her up. This is considered as highly non practical. See you got nearly killed during the journey, you were thirsty and hungry not mention horny. The first logical choice was to satisfy at least one of those craving and the third seems as the most logical thing to do. The prince ...more

I think this is a great continuation from the first novel and although I love all three at times this would have to be my favourite. The fact that it offers a new experience for the slaves to be in makes it seem far more brutal and far more interesting. I think it helps to add more depth and then there is the introduction of a new character and the story being told from their perspective as well as Beauty’s. I quite like the new perspective and seeing as it is a different slave to what Beauty is...more

I enjoyed this second book in the series more than the first book. Characters develop more and it's easier to relate to them. After reading the first book I was prepared for this one as I knew this was going to be another shocking novel about pleasure slaves and their masters and mistresses. I can say I found this novel more shocking than the first as the characters go into deeper and darker submission in the Village. This novel focuses mainly on Beauty and Tristan finding themselves and trying ...more

I picked this book up at the same time I picked up the first book of this series. I didn't actually read it, it didn't even take a flip through to confirm that it like the first book of the series is pornographic. I suppose some people would call it erotica, but that is just semantics.

As with the first book I don't give a "star" rating. It is out of the range of what I read. Maybe someone who is into that type of writing can give a rating.

Lots more intimate details again, but I felt that there was more about the characters showing how both slaves and masters think about things. Having both Tristan's and Beauty's point of view showed two different sides and ways of thinking, and made me think about why we do the things we do - why do people behave in certain ways? I'm curious to see where their journey takes them, and if their views will change.
The books are both well written, but I don't think I would read them again, hence ...more

Much like the first book of this series, this description is very simple . . . . porn. I liked this one a little better (not that I don't like the series in general) because instead of the entire story focusing on Beauty, we get a new main character to share the spot light. We'll just say that Tristan is more to my liking. Let's cut the crap however, and just admit that NO ONE reads this series for the plot line . . . don't lie.
