Magic has no place in this world, so technically neither do I. Those around me want to see me burn—make me explode underneath their accusing glares—but I won't. There's only one person that gets me hot, and we've never spoken to each other. He's clueless to my fascination, but knows too much about secrets I've never whispered. He's different from the rest. The black sheep....more

"There's A Fire Burning In Her Heart..."

Have you ever experienced a loneliness that misshapes and taints the world in your eyes? Have you ever had something that secretly you have longed to share with someone else, but did not have anyone you trust to share it with? These are problems that face every teen and every person, from time-to-time, and these are the types of things that Mage faces day-to-day.

Bestowed with certain abilities that she, herself, cannot explain, Mage is forced to hide th...more

It's a very sweet love story with a lot of heartache and magic... have a tissue in hand. I would recommend this book for everyone young and old.. It's very easy to read and well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning the next page to find out what happens next. Very unexpected twists through out the book also keep you reading on. I can't wait for the next one to come out..

This book kept my attention the whole time. I was unable to step away from it. The attention to detail was amazing and the character development was wonderful. I fell in love with one of the main characters and was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. This book moved me to tears it was that good. I look forward to seeing what else this author brings out for us.

5 fantastic, completely well deserved stars! If I could give it more I would!

Wow. This book was seriously amazing. It was nothing at all like I was expecting. I don’t even know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn’t this. Tabatha Vargo has created one of the best books I’ve ever read and, trust me, I’ve read a lot of books. Mage has to be one of my favorite heroine’s of all time. She wasn’t moody and indecisive every other page. She was real. Mage’s inner dialogue had me laughing out loud...more

Okay I had an opportunity to read the book as a beta reader, I stay up till four in the morning reading this amazing book, i could not put it down, it was so good i had to finish it to know what happens next, Mage isn't a normal teenage girl, she has a special gift, that she had ever since she was little and ever since she was little she got picked on and no one really talk's to her even now in high school they think she is a freak, but then a new girl comes along and wants to be friends with he...more

There are no words that can express how much I truly enjoyed this book. The imagery is fantastic! There is a kiss that is described so perfectly that it made me feel the way I did the first time I kissed my husband. It was like falling in love all over again. There were butterflies in my stomach, tingles in my toes, a giddy feeling all over, the works. Being a high school loner myself, I connected with the character of Mage immediately. The ability to feel a connection like that meant that I exp...more

WOW!! Totally captivating and enthralling!!
I want to begin by saying that the cover of Wicked Fate is beautiful and it alone is very alluring. But, the pages within this book draw you deeper in to the world of Mage and the turmoil that this intriguing teen has to go through.
With a heroine that is strong and smart, Mage carries us through her life of solidarity. Until a new student, Bernie, enters the social mess of Mage's life, something new wakes up in Mage and sets things in motion for the jo...more

I got this book when Tabatha released it before she pulled it because she wanted to make it prefect so I guess you could say I beta read it for her. I loved this book. I read a few chapters when she had it on Inkpop and was addicted then. I finally got to read the whole book and couldn't put it down I finished it in one day. From the beginning she draws you in and gets you hooked on the characters and the story. She adds so much detail to her book that if you have never been to Summerville, SC y...more

I absolutely LOVED this book!!!! I was immediately hooked after the first page. I haven't read a book like this before. The fact that it is different from all the other books out there, makes it another favorite on my shelf. The story is written beautifully, and the world that Tabatha created, was unlike the others. I felt as if I was there. I felt as if I was there, and I was able to see picture everything around me with the descriptions that Tabatha used. I also love seeing characters grow th...more

I started this review a few days ago and decided to erase what I originally put because no matter how bad a book is, there is no need to be rude with your "personal" opinion in a review. I know for a fact that a "real" Author reads and appreciates ALL reviews. Whether good or bad. I normally don't write a bad review and I usually HATE reviews that have the story of the book in it because that beats the reason to even read the book! With all that being said:

I read a recommendation on this book fr...more

WOW!!! This book is absolutely amazing!! I was hooked from page one! The Language of Flowers. *sigh* Definately my favorite part. The author does an wonderful job developing the characters and describing everything to make it so easy to see in your mind. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster and im still wiping tears as I write this review. Mage is one tough cookie! She has endured more heartache and struggles in her 16 years than most do in a lifetime. Enter Adam *swoon* He is such a...more

Whoaaa! Oh my God! So sad, sweet and... oh my God, I have no words!
I loved, loved, loved this book! And all the characters were very good! I liked Mage a lot, and then Adam, Thaddeus, Bernie, Ben, Sire...And I actually swooned and I was in awe when Mage and Adam were together. It was so beautiful! So emotional! This is what I'm talking about when I say that I can connect with a character and their feelings. I could feel their love, their passion, their desperation, their sadness, their pain.

There are a few things that I need to let you know before I dive into this review. 1) This book was given to me by the author, Tabatha Vargo, to beta read. 2) This book is not yet released; however, the moment that I know, I will let you know! And 3) I want to say THANK YOU for this amazing read!

Best part of the book: For the first time I was not sure what to choose as the "best part". So, I am going to say the best part is: Tabatha Vargo. She is the most descriptive author I think I have ever r...more

I was drawn into this book by the cover but what is inside is even better and had me staying up late into the night to finish.

Mage is different and is the loner/freak of her school. They all fear her and Mage fears herself due to special abilities. But all that changes when a new girl moves to town and tries to become friends with Mage and the boy Adam she has always crushed on is now paying attention to her. Bernie and Adam immediately become very important to Mage and she thinks things are loo...more

Oh, where to start? Wicked Fate was...WICKED. Wry. Wild. Wonderful. There is nothing I love more than a good witch tale. And this story had me immediately under it's spell. Beautifully written without the heavy prose of some of the other books I've read recently but just as well composed. Yes, composed. Perfectly presented, perfectly paced, perfectly peppered with... ah, it's just PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT. Tabatha has a great style and wicked wit. update: finished the revised version the other day and all I will say is DAMN. I thought it was good before but the changes Tabatha Vargo made were incredible. you can tell how much she has grown over the past year as an author. well worth rebuying the book for the changes. ready for book two now!

Wonderful book!!! I started and finished it in one afternoon/evening, I just could not put it down.
Even though it is directed at a younger crowd the story is so well written even adults find themselves...more

This book was really good. My heart broke for Mage. She was all alone in the world. Her grandfather cant remember half the time due to his illness and the only friend she has is a ghost named Thaddus. I loved reading about Mage blooming and growing. She went from being a loner to having a best friend and finding love. Of course nothing is ever easy and Mage and Adam have a tough road ahead of them. There is danger all around and yet these two are so connected to each other that I had some sweet...more

I truly enjoyed this book. I think that Tabatha did a great job of bringing these characters to life and making the reader care about them. I especially enjoyed the character of Mage. It is refreshing to have a story where the girl is perfectly capable of taking care of herself. I think she is an excellent role model for young girls. I encourage you to give this book a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The Flame Collector by Tabatha Vargo

For Mage McPherson...

Wicked Fate, is what it is. Mage learns to love, discover, fight, and considers making friends. Starting out as a loner and self contained, she is finally forced to branch out and become somewhat social. Though she's never to far away from those that she that care for her, she discovers that Bernie is what she needs in her life.

She's never really known her mother and father, so knowing who and where she came from makes life a bit troubling for Mage. She wants answers, she w...more

I love love loved this book. It enthralled me and kept me captivated past the last word on the last page, right from the very beginning.

Its really not my fault anyway, if he wasnt eight people ahead of me looking like summer seduction on a stick, then maybe I could pay attention. It's simple....I blame him. ~ Mage on Adam

The characters were amazing, the story kept me guessing and the writing was superb. I felt the emotions of loneliness, sadness, pain, confusion, euphoria, and happiness as if I...more

Wicked Fate has been one of the most favorite books I’ve read in 2012!
Madge McPherson is unlike the others. Alone with only a grandpa that doesn’t remember who she is, Madge has to take care of herself. But is she really alone?
At school Madge is a loner. No one talks to her no one even looks at her. When the new school year begins Madge hopes it would be different this year. She is about to get her wish fulfilled and then some. A new friend – Bernie who’s just so bubbly and full of life that it...more

I absolutely LOVED this book. Tabatha Vargo done a wonderful job with it and I can not wait to read Book 2.
I love that Mage was a loner at first and then the one guy she liked and thought would have nothing to do with her finally did and she absolutely LOVED Adam!
And it all started with Bernie. Which Mage at first wasn't to sure of but that goes to show that you don't judge a book by its cover cause what is inside and what it reveals is completely different!
I don't want to give any spoilers so...more

Let me start by saying, if you want the same teen love drama where only the names have changed, this is not the book for you. It is different. What Mage can and can’t do. Her relationship with Thaddeus and her grandparents and her best friend…it’s all different - and when Mage sets her eyes on something, the whole world rocks. About the only normal relationship she has is with Sire…well, not really, but normal by her standards.
On the plus side: Totally unexpected events occur. You can’t guess wh...more

I started this book because I was intrigued by the summary and cover. I was interested at first, but then stopped at chapter 11. I stopped at chapter 11 for ten months.
Today, I finally noticed the book again. I open it and what do you know? Unfinished at chapter 11.
Surprisingly, I remembered pretty much everything and started off again at chapter 11. The book caught my attention again for a few chapters, but then it started to get crappy.
Mage was a lovesick girl with emotional problems and it...more

I was completely drawn into the this book from the first chapter. I needed it finish it in one day. I was determined to know what happened to the engrossing characters. I needed to see how the love would overcome the trials of the book. I am completely in awe of Tabatha Vargo's ability to get into the minds of these teen kids. I have a 15 year old daughter and could completely see her in the situations and responding the same way. Excellent Job Tabatha. Cant wait to read the next in the series....more

This was such an awesome read! First off, I am a Charlestonian, so talking about Summerville and swinging on the swings at Waterfront Park just made me feel even more connected to this story, this wonderful story! I immediately fell in love with Mage. She's had so much tragedy in her life at such a young age, but yet, she keeps going. I love how her character florishes and develops. Plus, I love Adam, and the chemistry between the two of them, it seems so real! I cannot wait for the next book to...more

I adore Tabatha Vargo but this YA paranormal book was just ok for me. Luckily I see there is a Book #2 in this series or I would be really upset - this book ends suddenly & there are many issues left standing. Mage is a strange girl who the rest of the high school students avoid. She lives with her grandfather in a southern plantation along with the ghosts of her grandmother & her friend Thaddeus. Mage doesn't know exactly who she is but at a young age she displays the ability to move th...more

Loved this book from the first page. Every page kept me wanting more I could't put it down. I loved the story it self, I loved the way it was written most of all I love the details. I fell in love Mage and Adam. I couldnt help but feel heart broken with what happen to Adam but I can why that was important because I think that going to be a very important part of the next book. Which I can't wait for and hopefully we dont have to wait to long.

Mage's coming of age to receive her remaining powers is a moving and chilling experience. Living through the changes inside and out as she finds true love with Adam. Upon finding her mother and even her father she loses Adam and nothing can fill the void in her life not even Benjamin. I can't wait for the next volume to see if Mage can use her powers to find her lost love and bring her father and mother home with her as it should be.
