I kept encountering Peter Marshall's prayers in various devotional books and so when I saw this on the shelf at a local public library, I borrowed it. I found the first part of the book more interesting than the last half - which was the prayers that Marshall prayed for the U. S. Senate.

The first half had prayers that were more personal - ones that could still apply to my life in 2009 rather than the early 1950's.

I am glad I picked this up, but won't probably refer to it again.

“the longest prayer Peter ever prayed in the Senate-that of March 10, 1947, at the time of Mrs. Alben Barkley's death-took two minutes; the shortest, that which opened the Second Session of the Eightieth Congress-was exactly 36 words long and took a matter of seconds.” 0 likes
