Aah, sepertinya buku ke-6 ini adalah yang paling kurang menarik buatku.
Butuh waktu cukup lama untuk menyelesaikannya, selain juga agak-agak malas untuk memulai menulis review-nya... -_-'

Secara kualitas masih tetap spektakuler, dari sisi art, cerita, dan sisi komikalnya. Makanya tetap kuberi bintang penuh.

Seri 6 ini...bercerita mengenai Ananda dan Ahimsa..2 orang yang dibimbing Budha untuk dilahirkan kembali..Ananda berhasil sedangkan Ahimsa menolak..dan memilih penderitaannya sendiri..
Di seri ini juga diceritakan juga mengenai bagaimana Budha mendapatkan murid-murid baru yang notabene lebih senior ( he..lebih tua ) dari dia.
Lumayan juga..perjalanan naik busway dari Blok M ke Kota..Bolak-balik....

Buddha is aging -- slowly but surely. This volume closes with a preview of the upcoming volume, and in it he looks downright old. I suppose he'll probably die before the end of the series, but I have to say I'm not looking forward to it. I'm getting attached.
Sometime in the early 90s I picked up the Japanese series in bunkobon (small-format paperback; Goodreads has only one of those registered, so I'm listing the English versions instead). I recently found the set stashed away in some boxes, so I decided to read through it again.

Those who dislike the more supernatural elements of the Buddha series should perhaps consider skipping this volume entirely, as it is largely the story of Ananda, a man chosen by a devil to find and kill Buddha, and so is given invincibility at a very young age. Magic abounds in this volume, making it feel more like a traditional graphic novel and less like a biography, religious in nature or not. Buddha begins to show signs of age as his power and the depth of his teachings only continues to increase, and as his followers (including many former enemies) multiply. This volume by and large focuses on Ananda, half-brother to Devadatta, who is granted the satanic protection of Buddha's enemy, the devil Mara, and who is tasked by her to destroy Buddha. Having made it through six volumes, I know I'll be continuing on with Buddha's saga here, but I will say that Buddha as a character was a lot more appealing before he got enlightened at the end of volume 4. Ever since then he's sort of become a stereotypical enlightened being, a bit too otherworldly for y taste. Nonetheless, things definitely picked up in this volume over volume five. You know you're getting famous when a demon wants to stop you - as is the case in Volume 6, when the demon Mara possesses Ananda, the half-brother of Devadatta. Naturally, this leads to quite an epic confrontation with Buddha, with a rather surprising ending. Well, maybe not too surprising, given how Buddha has dealt with other conflicts. Nonetheless, a wonderful volume.

Yeah, I gave all six volumes 5 stars -- what of it? Sure there's some sections where the story gets a little slow and obscure, but the mastery at work never dips. If you enjoy 'sequential art' and the work of Tezuka, read this.
Obviously as this is the sixth book in a series I am recommending the whole set when saying that this particular section is awesome. We finally get into some of Buddha's hardcore teaching. The little comic notes are funny. It's a pleasure to read.
If you're still along for the ride, you'll enjoy this as much as you've enjoyed the previous five volumes. Buddha takes a backseat to Ananda in this volume, although he remains a constant presence throughout.
Another one that includes a bunch of great sermons, etc. Second favorite in the series so far. Discusses desire. Crazy scene at fire temple! That makes it sound like I'm talking about a Legend of Zelda game?
Ananda.. si Begal yang akhirnya jadi pengikut setia Budha. Sangat setia dan berada di samping Budha hingga akhir hayat nanti di seri-8. Tapi kayaknya di sini, covernya gak sampe seri 8 yak? :D

Wonderful! I am in total awe of this man's work. I may even have to hunt down some Astro Boy! --From A Reader's Journal, by d r melbie.
Good. My review here is pretty similar to vol. 3's review, although I think this one holds up better more recently than 3 did.
Ooh man: demons protecting babies at birth? This story gets a lot more interesting with supernatural enemies in the game
it s a story of a boy witch a demon was protecting him and the budda scares the demon away from the boy
Volume 6!! It's getting quite close to 7 and 8! ill reread 7 and grand finale it with vol 8! soooo good!
Evil has some plans to counter godly Buddha and it starts its preparation right from the begining.
So far, out of all the books, the Buddhist philosophy explained in this book has really touched me.
Buddha begins to gather many disciples and gives teachings to animals and humans alike.
Getting repetitive now. Waiting for the last one.
via NYPL - magnificent series, mixing fourth wall-shaking humor, philosophy and spiritualism in a humanistic brew.
I requested the last 2 in the series, now I just hope the library follows through and buys them.
