Welcome to Adelheid, CT. Freak central. Unofficial capital of legal preternatural creatures in the Northeast. Focal point for anti-preternatural sentiments in the United States.

Who would ever guess that this otherwise sleepy New England town houses many of the most powerful beings known to exist?

In “Cameron’s Law,” meet Sadie Stanton, vampire poster girl for preternatural rights. She’s just trying to start a business to help the community, but when vampires and werewolves start attacking each other, she gets thrust in the middle.

Right from the start you are thrust into the action.

'Welcome to Adelheid' is a series of books where being a supernatural being is legal, and vampires, werewolves, and other shapeshifters, can live out in the open. This reminded me of the set-up for Laurel K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. However, the similarities end there, and Mia Darien chose to give voice to a different character in each book.

The first two stories in the book were most enjoyable to me while the third tale left something to be desired. Most of the character didn’t seem in my mind to be any more than two dimensional at best. The stories seemed too short to round out both the plot and character so both were somewhat sacrificed the entire plot was wrapped up with main character in the hospital and somewhat out of the loop in the first story. Still it was overall enjoyable if you have exhausted all you usual reads.

Welcome to Adelheid is a gripping and edgy suspense that will have you biting your nails! This is a story that you can sink your teeth into never let go! Journey to a sleepy town and Connecticut and meet Sadie, Dakota, and D. This town is not like every other town out there, it is full of all the creatures that go bump in the night!

This is a unique and refreshing new series that will leave you wanting to know more about the preternatural that inhabit Adelheid.

Mia Darien has lived in New England all of her life and knows that no matter where she goes from here, New England is always going to live in her. Presently, she still lives in the land of snow and fast talkers, with her husband, her son and her pets. She writes a bit of everything genre fiction (horror, romance, mystery, fantasy and science fiction) and thinks it sounds like an odd joke: a unicor ...more
