This is basically a gift-book for lovers of dogs and history, but it's certainly a nice one. It reproduces about 50 or so illustrations from medieval manuscripts showing dogs, in glorious color and at pretty good size considering the relatively small size of the book (roughly 6x8 inches). The text is mainly commentary on medieval beliefs about dogs, with some extracts of original texts - really quite readable and enjoyable, and with the authority of the British Library and a legitimate scholar ...more
