This is one of the short origin stories of other kids from battle school in the Enderverse. Tracing the selection process for "Hot Soup," this story is one of the middle-strong selections.
The "Tiger Father" approach is to get his son, Han Tzu, into Battle School, no matter the cost.

But all 'Hot Soup' needs is the opportunity. His father just needs a little faith.

Did not expect a backstory for this little character but love that it expands the Enderverse that much more and goes to foreshadowing Han Tzu's great loyalty to China come the end of the Bugger Wars.

I loved learning about the back story of how the IF test was given and allowed to be sold or stolen. I loved hearing the reactions of the the boy learning through this book. Filling in the pieces to the later story has given me a greater appreciation for the the whole series. I recommend this as a great read!

Enjoyable, but kinda boring. Han Tzu was such a minor character.
A little Hot Soup action for ya! Ender's Game tells the story of genius children and this is a small backstory for one of the secondary characters. What if one of the young hopefuls came from a family that was in the midst of falling apart? Orson Scott Card does a good job with his small story.
I liked it. :) he was a cute little boy.
Definitely Hot Soup!
