For me, author voice is almost everything, and it will make or break a novel and my enjoyment of it. I need to hear originality and authenticity and know that the author is not trying to sound or write like someone else, but is telling HIS story in a whole new way, whatever that story may be. I feel like I can smell a fake a mile away, and believe me I’ve read my fair share of books from authors who are ‘trying’ to emulate better, more accomplished authors, or worse, write about topics that they ...more

wow, “RADS: A MEDICAL MYSTERY” By Avtar S. Ahuja, Ph.D. was awesome! I haven’t read anything like that in a long time, if ever. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was much better than I’d expected it to be. Really gave great insight into the complex and difficult world of medicine, technology, and human care. SO many characters come and go to help tell this story-some more fully fleshed out than others (occasionally feels a bit like ‘name soup’),. But it is clear that the author has g

This book was terrific! Once I started reading I didn’t want to stop until I’d finished the whole thing. It pulls you in from the get-go, and I enjoyed the author’s “voice” and his intelligent style of writing. The interweaving plotlines were well-crafted and not predictable, and the element of medical mystery was a new angle for me. Never read a novel based on one before, and it was much more interesting than I thought it’d be! And I’m blessed to not have had anyone go through cancer who is ...more

Excellent plot- some writing issues. The good part was that “Rads: A Medical Mystery” was an excellent novel that captured my attention from the beginning and never once let it go. Each scene was riveting, imaginative, and well-described, and I enjoyed the authentic characters and intelligent plotline. The descriptions were so good I felt like I was right there in the story, and I liked the author’s writing style and the authenticity of the scientific/medical world-building—clear that the author ...more

I knew by the 25% mark that I would really love “RADS: A Medical Mystery” by Avtar Ahuja and it would go on my “favorites” shelf, and I was right! I admit I had no real expectations when starting it, seeing as how I’d never read the author before (or heard of him), but as someone who has battled breast cancer, I was intrigued by the description. And I was not in the least bit disappointed! I was so impressed with the intelligent and complex storyline and the author’s level of accurate s

I really enjoyed “RADS: A Medical Mystery”. I thought it was easy to get lost in this world that Dr. Avtar S. Ahuja imagined (although he notes it is based on real events – how fascinating!) It’s fast paced and kept my attention from the beginning through the end, which while the ending felt kind of abrupt, it smooths out more in the epilogue and explains things. It is a quick and easy read, one I finished in the course of a few nights. I was genuinely surprised at a few things that happened, ...more

"RADS: A Medical Mystery” by Dr. Avtar S. Ahuja is a compelling read, and one that will definitely appeal to fans of drama and medical mystery novels. Dr. Ahuja infuses a great blend of scientific/medical knowledge, intrigue, drama, health and romantic issues, and shocking twists. The story itself was fairly even-paced, but I did think the beginning was a bit slow until things started to pick up. Too much focus on the set up with unnecessary conversations and scenes, and we should have gotten to ...more

When I read books, usually I either like the dialogue, and the narrative seems flat (or too telling and long-winded) or the prose is good, but the conversations seem contrived and stiff. But I thought everything flowed well in “RADS: A Medical Mystery” by Avtar Ahuja. It had it all, seriously…romance, drama, humor, suspense, friends, enemies, science, a mystery… all come together to create an unforgettable and addicting rollercoaster ride that I won’t soon forget. Enjoyed the cast of characters ...more

I really enjoyed this book, “Rads: A Medical Mystery” by Dr. Avtar Ahuja. The characters were all interesting and well-written, and I appreciated the fact that the author wasn’t afraid to take risks and think outside the box with this one. It was a complex, unique, and unpredictable plot and I have to say that the characters were well-done and even felt like people I could know in real life. I do admit that at first I felt a little lost as to what it was all about and where it was going

this was the first book I’ve read by this author Dr. Avtar S. Ahuja, but I certainly hope it’s not the last. He has a gift for writing descriptive and life-like scenes that make us feel like we are really there inside the story, not on the outside looking in. Like we are a part of the action. I like that this novel didn’t feel stale or derivative, but instead like a new niche of science and medical suspense that serves well to help diversify a somewhat cookie-cutter genre (in my opinion). I did
