3.5 Stars

Charmed Spirits was cute, witty, sometimes just goofy but definitely fun. It was a light-hearted book that put a smile on my face and definitely has me looking at tabletops a little differently.

Jordan Cross ran out of Holiday, Montana as soon as she got the chance. People either hated her, loved her or just wanted her to use her “gift” to get them something – usually a man. When she left, she left with a secret and left the true love...more

3.75 out of 5. This is a cute story by an author whose work I have enjoyed in the past. It is certainly a cute story for the Halloween observance and is also filled with characters that are irritating in their prejudice and ability to hold a grudge. It is also a testimony to what happens when people have waaaaaay too much money, very little conscience, and whose power of office--one that has been delegated to them by the community--becomes their personal mandate to take out their bad attitude an...more

This one book is more like 1.5 stars for me. I didn't hate it but I didn't like it either. I think what disappointed me the most about this book was that there was a kernel of a very interesting story but it was never developed. Actually, that could pretty much sum up my entire thoughts about this book - it is almost completely lacking in any kind a development. The plot goes from points A to B to C but how we get to each point seems to have been forgotten. The characters are also incredibly one...more

Charmed Spirits

Jordan ran away from Holiday, Montana a long time ago. As a witch, she was made fun, treated like an outcast and hated by many. Except for the Cooper family. 5 boys all accepting of Jordan's differences. Matt even more so. As high school sweethearts, Matt was heartbroken when Jordan left. He never understood why, she never even said goodbye. So eleven years later, when she returns to town, he is still hurt but the love is still there. Jordan is back for one reason. Her grandmother...more

Charmed Spirits by Carrie Ann Ryan
Jordan Cross thought she had left the town of Holiday, Montana, in the dust many moons ago, never to return. Until the death of her grandmother*, brings her back to a town that looks down at her and talks behind her back because she is a witch. Jordan also has to face the man she walked out on all those years ago. I really liked Jordan. She is a strong and independent woman who is faced with all the fears of her past to be able to go on with the future. Jordan h...more

In the 11 years Jordan has been away from Holiday, not much has changed. The town people are still judgmental and Matt Cooper is still the man that owns her heart. As Jordan tries to survive in a town that hates her, Matt is right by her side just like was when they were younger and it isn’t long before the attraction that never went away roars back full-force.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Jordan and Matt. The spark was there from the first page and watching the flirtation turn to hot t...more

Now eleven years later she is back, but only to fix up her grandmother's house, sell it and get the hell out as quick as possible. But it doesn't work out that way she wants, first she runs into her best friend and high school sweetheart Matt, and her Grandmother's house is in need of more then a fix.

As noted in the synopsis Jordan Cross reluctantly returns to Holiday to clean out her late grandmother’s (not aunt) house and ready it for sale only to find it vandalized and in disaray. Jordan has her work cut out for her if she is going to make the place presentable for sale, which means a much longer stay in a town full of unpleasant memories and people who treated her like a pariah because of fear and ignorance. Further, there is Matthew Cooper, the boyfriend she hurt badly when she left wit...more

Wow! Just wow describes this book! I finished it within half a day and it was worth it! Now I don't read that many Witchy books because it doesn't tickle my fancy BUT Charmed Spirits DID tickle my fancy! As I started reading, I wasn't so sure if she was a Witch but as I kept on reading I was like, " OH so she is a Witch! Awesome" then I was like, "So what happened to Matt?" but then I found out and was like, "OHHHH! So that's what happened to Matt! Crazy Pyro bitch!" I loved the small town theme...more

Jordan Cross is returning to Holiday, Montana, a town she ran from and wasn't looking forward to going back too. Jordan is a witch, from a long line of witches, but she was bullied growing up and finally had enough. Her one regret was leaving Matthew Cooper and his family. They were the only ones who accepted her for herself and the hot young love she shared with Matt. Jordan's grandmother has passed on and now Jordan must return to fix up the house to sell, but also she is taking time to find h...more

Jordan Cross would do anything to never go back to her hometown Holiday, Montana. But the recent death of her grandmother leaves her with the task of cleaning out and selling the house she grew up in. But it wasn’t all great memories for Jordan. Since she was a little girl she knew she was a witch but the town folk saw her as an abomination and after years of torment she fled the little town in search of a better life.

But of course small towns never for...more

OMG – the warning in the synopsis is not only hilarious but extremely accurate (particularly the last part of the statement)! I’m not saying another word, but you will know exactly what I’m talking about if you’ve read the book or when you read it!!

I will say that this reads like a contemporary novel with the exception that the heroine is a witch and there are things that go bump in the night. It was a sweet, romantic story about high school sweethearts that may get that second chance and final...more

I simply love Carrie Ann Ryan. I have been a fan of her shifter books and when I saw this was coming out, I knew I had to read it. It was AMAZING! I could not put it down. I loved the premise, the setting and oh how I loved those Cooper brothers. I am so excited by this series.

Jordon Cross was such an interesting character and watching her come to terms with her past and begin her new life back in her old home town kept me turning the pages even after I promised myself, "Just one more chapter" o...more

Jordan is a natural witch that comes from many generations of women in her family, she couldn't take the townsfolk mentality of who she was 11 years earlier. She took off never looking back, at the man she loved and was high school sweethearts with or her grandmother.

Jordan's grandmother passes away rather quickly and arrangements were put together by the Cooper family.
She returns to only clean up and sell her grandmother's home. But will she have a change of heart and what will happen...

This book was one of those that makes you go OH MY ! Imagine five sexy single men and a confused which sound interesting enough right.

Well yes it was, from the premise to the characters to the wonderful ending it just all came together so perfectly.

The Cooper Brothers are the sweetest of men you can think of and did I mention they are hot ...anyways they help Jordan as being a which and being made fun of certainly does not help to brighten ones life.

The book was well written and had the perfect s...more

I loved Charmed Spirits. Of course it helps that my birthday is on Halloween and this is the first book I have read that includes the holiday. Kind of strange huh?

This is one paranormal romance series that I am really anxious to read more of. I love all the holidays and I know that Carrie is going to make all the books very interesting.

I won't say anything about the plot of the book, because I am always afraid of saying to much. Just know that I highly recommend this book and I am sure the ones...more

Pleasant enough novella which does better setting up a series than telling a strong romance.

Two words: Cooper brothers. Matt is the youngest of five totally super hottie brothers. Each of his brothers is unique with interesting personalities and I love how they love and support each other while needling each other. I’m a sucker for men in romance being part of a brotherhood so this totally set up a great series. In fact, at least two of the brothers’ romanc...more

“Jordan Cross might be a witch, but she wasn’t a pointy-hat-wearing, card carrying member of the green-skinned race.”

I loved that line. It gives you a look at the heroine underneath the insecure young woman. This is the same woman who, with a little more self-confidence, will eventually snub her nose at the residents of Holiday, Montana and their hateful attitude. Although, in my opinion, Jordan's self-confidence seems a long time in coming. Jordan seem...more

Carrie Ann Ryan’s new release CHARMED SPIRITS, the first in a new series, is set in the small town of Holiday, Montana. It takes place over the Halloween holiday.

The town comes across picturesque and Ryan does a great job of painting the colors of fall into her descriptions. I absolutely loved the reference, “Any second now Bambi would frolic through.” It just made me laugh.

The book introduces a family of grown brothers – the Coopers. All sexy and appealing in their own way. CHARMED SPIRITS cen...more

You know how they say you can always go home? Well don’t ask Jordan Cross that. Home is the last place on earth that she wants to be. But she has no choice, she has to go home and take care of the family home after the death of her grandma. Jordan just hopes that this will be quick in and out of Holiday Montana with very little interaction with the locals. But as with every good plan you better have a backup escape route when the love of your life finds out your back in town.

Matt finally has an...more

Where to begin... Jordan returns to Holiday after 11 years to find the town as welcoming as ever (not) and finds her 1st love is still HOT. Jordan is independent and SMART with quit an attitude (love her!) but she is determined to leave Holiday as soon as she sells her grandmothers home.
Fresh from city she is now a fancy PR rep who hides her witch back ground from the "city" and herself.... Thinking Holiday Montana has nothing to offer her any longer just like before she left. Holiday town folk...more

This is yet again another great series from Carrie Ann Ryan. Matt and Jordan have a great connection and chemistry. I love the humor between the two. Once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. The story flows from the very first chapter the the end with a couple of WOWs in there that you wouldn't expect. And of course who couldnt forget the Cooper brothers. All hot, sexy, & totally hilarious. I so can't want for Justin's story to come out next or the rest of them for that matter.

OMG was I annoyed over the way the town kowtowed to the mayor. Uh..how is it legal that he can demand someone be arrested? Or tear down a house someone lives in and is in the process of renovating? Crap that like annoys me.

And don't get me started on the ridiculous way Jordan and Matt acted at different times. Morons, both.

Having said that..I did think the premise was a good one and I wouldn't mind reading another of the books to see if she improves, hence the 2 stars.

The sweet story of a woman who is a witch by nature but due to poor circumstance and family issues, denies her true self as a child. She returns years later and found not only her true self but also her best friend who turns into the love of her life. There are some very steamy and romantic scenes in this book. Read in only a few hours and truly enjoyed it. My only complaint is the ending was rather abrupt but I did enjoy it.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was funny and sweet. The characters were endearing. This steamy scenes were hot! It was a quick read for me. I'm very curious about Holiday, Montana. I really can't wait to find out about the brothers. I can't wait for Justin's book!

I love reading paranormal romance stories and this one was another great one. It’s the beginning of a new series by this author. I like that the hero and heroine already had somewhat of a history, so it’s one of those great rekindling loves. But there was so much more to it, the heroine Jordan is a witch, she had to leave Holiday because of the town’s prejudice against her. Matt Cooper is the hero (and oh so hot!) , he was heartbroken when she left without a word to him. He has his own secrets t...more
