texting tyler
by
Rebecca Rembish (Goodreads Author)
In a time where people rely on their cell phones for everything, a romance like this was bound to happen.
Christopher Clarke is the nicest guy Amy Fallon has ever met. He is sixteen, handsome, smart, funny…an all-around great guy. Tyler Clarke is hot. So why is Amy, one of the smartest girls in school, so clueless when it comes to realizing who she is truly falling in love...more

Okay, this is definitely a book for the young set. I am 38, and I really struggled to get into this book. There are no sex scenes, and the profanity is not too bad. But for me, the subject matter, characters, and story just didn't connect with me.
As far as the writing, young adults should absolutely love it. Much of the conversation is told through texts, and I think that is definitely relatable to today's young people. And I am sure that Chris, Tyler, and Amy will be characters with whom young...more

Cute story - It seemed like it was more focused on the younger YA readers, even though they were 16 at the time. I would let my 11 and 12 year old read it though.
It was highly predictable, but still it was really cute to read the growing attraction between Amy and Chris.
Amy went to Arizona to visit with her Grandmother. Meeting her Gram's good friend down the street, along with her grandson. Their first meeting was a click in their friendship. They hit it off pretty well.

Can something romantic be sustained via long distance?
This seems to be the challenge that Amy has to face when she heads back to New York after a week of vacation at her grandmother’s house in Arizona. With her first kiss taken by Tyler, Amy believes she must have feelings for him, except that she knows almost nothing about him besides the fact that Tyler is Chris’s brother. In the months following, she still doesn’t know much about Tyler, but strangely, Tyler seems to have the intuition to know...more

This was such a good and well written story! I really liked the characters, Chris and Amy. I can feel their different personalities and I think they meshed really well...as friends :) You see the title as 'Texting Tyler' as yes there is a Tyler. That's Chris's older brother, who is not at all like Chris (I loved Chris!) so why does Amy text Tyler? Well you are going to have to read that for yourself, and believe me, it was a wonderful story. I liked that there was a good amount of humor, and Chr...more
This is definitely a young YA contemporary book. It was fun and flirty. So much of it took me right back to those early teenage years between boys and girls.
Of course, the whole book I am literally wanting to yank Amy back and forth willing her to get that it's all about Chris not the loser brother, Tyler. How can she not get that?! That's the luxury of being the reader who knows everything about everyone in the book, right? Still, Amy is a ton naive (having or showing a lack of experience, judg...more

When Amy spends the summer with her grandmother, she's sure it's going to be boring. But then she meets Chris, the absolutely perfect guy for her, and butterflies start to congregate in her stomach. But Chris is just treating her like a friend, and when his older, handsome, confident brother Tyler makes a move, she can't resist.
Amy returns home, thinking that she and Tyler are now dating, and Chris is heartbroken. But he can't bear the thought of Amy getting hurt, so he does something sweet yet...more
The author wrote a really cute and endearing love story about a girl who is very insecure about herself and trying to come to terms with everything around her. This was a very cute and fun, fast easy read that I enjoyed several times over. I would recommend this to anyone in a heartbeat, I never realized really how much a difference the written word can be compared to a text. There really is more meaning behind it.

This book was super cute. I love contemporary romance and this one was right up my alley. It was a light read about a teen girl in a long distance relationship(s). Rembish was brilliant at including texts as part of the story and helping it move forward.
While the story is mostly told from Amy's perspective, it does flip over to Chris every now and then to give his view. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. It was fun to see how both characters were dealing with the relations...more

texting tyler
Tyler is a moron.
Okay, that’s rude, in his defense by the end of the book I no longer hate him, but still. Rebecca Rembish did an amazing job with the characters in this story. Texting Tyler is one of the most original concepts for a young adult contemporary romance I’ve seen in a while. Amy Fallon is an insecure, inexperienced teenager and she’s very much naïve when it comes to how things work in the world of teenage friendship and romance.

texting tyler is quite a cute little love story. It is not, however, one of those YA novels that are also for adults. It is quite immature and the characters are very childish at times. But, it is a young adult novel, so it is fitting. Though, I would say that it is more appropriate for middle grade readers or younger teenagers. The title sounded so interesting and basically what we all do nowadays, we text, so a love story that started via text messages sounded really cute to me. I also loved the cover and synopsis.
What I didn't overly like about the book was the fact that it was a bit too cheesy and cliché at some points. I am also guessing it's targeting people younger than my age group, so maybe that's it? The main character was a little too spoilt for my taste as well.

The book started off really well and I kept looking back at the title confused about when Tyler's role will be played out. It appeared to be a bit of mystery which resolved with time.
The concept of the plot is new, the characters nice, I really liked the Grandmother. The book is also a witness to how things in the social life of a teenager plays out. And how and when things go awry.
It makes for a quick, breezy reading.

"Texting Tyler" is a well written, great story and a fast read that was easy to relate to within your own life. Rebecca pens her characters believeable in this hard to put down book. Highly recommended for all YA and non-YA readers.

What a great story of friendship and love! It was such a fun read that kept me intrigued until the end. Texting Tyler was well written and very easy to relate to... eventhough there was no texting when I was in high school!! I loved the story of Amy and Chris and hope that there is more to come! I've passed this book on to my sister and I highly recommend it. Great read!
