J.K Accinni’s novella BABY begins conventionally enough. The year is 1929 in rural New Jersey, and Netty, the young heroine, has fled her abusive and conniving older husband. He has raped her both physically and legally, taking land for himself that rightfully belonged to her. She stumbles her way to an old farm once managed by her parents.

At this point the story takes a strikingly original turn. In a nearby cave, Netty discovers an injured extraterrestrial whose own healing powers are restored...more

When I started to read this book, I thought to myself "What did I get myself into"? A book based in the late 1920's with a couple living on a farm giving their daughters hand away in marriage.
Wow, was I wrong! Once Netty got the courage to leave her abusive husband and run to a place where she always felt secure, that this story started to draw me in. Of course this is when she encounters a dying creature. She feels the need to take it in and care for it. Not only was this story a tragic at time...more

Baby [Species Intervention 6609] book one by K Acci
I adored this book. It is every pet lovers dream and it tugged on my heartstrings.
Netty is extremely naïve in the beginning of the book. I wondered at which stage this naivety would actually start to annoy me, it never did. She is naïve but she is not stupid nor is she ignorant, she is simply untouched. Her state of bliss does not carry on though, her new husband is a treacherous man with no good intent, rapes her, disfigures her and cast her as...more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. At the beginning you couldn't help but feel the turmoil that the main character Netty felt living with her abusive husband. It was a violent Marraige and he had only married her for land and money that she had inherited but didn't know about. She finally gets the courage to escape his clutches so she runs and runs to the only place she knows. She ended up at the delapitated family home. One day Netty comes across a inj...more
Baby by J.K Accinni is a wonderfully written book. The book centers around three main characters. The first an adorable little character Baby who isn’t from around here, but don’t go by its name. Baby is far more mature and intelligent than those on this planet. Then there is Netty – troubled with the trauma from her life that she left behind, she comes back home to start life afresh. She then finds Baby and things start looking up. She builds herself a new life and finds comfort with her new pe...more

This may come as strange, but I found this book to be very heart warming at so many levels. Yes there were very sad and violent moments but as side from that I felt a strong connection to Netty, with the loss of her family the abuse from her crazy controlling husband and then having to live alone with no human contact. Then she finds Baby the strange little woods creature, who make sure Karma plays in every role of life. If you are good to others it will come back to you 10 fold, BUT if you trea...more

I enjoyed reading this book. It was easy to get into the story and it held my interest all the way through.
Netty broken in body and spirit fled her abusive husband after she leaned the true reason he married her. She was a poor, average girl from a small farm and he came from a wealthy family. She returns to her now depilated farm house. In an nearby cave she finds a strange looking creature she takes home to heal and names him Baby. Little does she know he is an alien capable of many things bu...more

I love this book. This book pulled at your heart strings and made you root for Nettie, Baby, and Wil. After being married to Robert and treated like she was nothing, Nettie discovers some of Robert’s secrets and takes off. Going back to where her family once lived, Nettie discovers an alien that she names Baby and discovers the healing powers of it. They become very attached to each other and Nettie wants to protect Baby. But when a stranger comes around and enters Nettie’s life, will she be abl...more
As much as I enjoyed Netty, Baby, and Wil’s story, it was a little hard for me to connect with these characters as the author used two different writing styles which I found slightly confusing and annoying at times. With Netty, Baby, and Wil the writing was too stiff and formal, and with the antagonists the writing was a lot more informal and too modern for the time period represented in the story. Although it didn’t take away much from the story, I felt the author should’ve stuck with either of...more

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

Wow, I love science fiction, but this book is much more! It's a love story.

Netty is a wonderful character. Unfortunately, she is forced to endure abuse from her rapist husband. Although badly treated, her spirit is not broken. When an opportunity to escape arises, she takes it. I loved her warm and generous heart. When she finds a hurt creature, she takes it in and looks after it. She names it Baby.

Baby is an alien, wh...more

Baby 6609 by JK Accinni

I totally loved the story and the characters. LOVE BABY!!! I did not foresee any of the events that took place halfway through the book to the end. What The Heck!! This story is very original and unique. It is a mix of the early 1940's with sci-fi twist. There is also tragedy, happiness, and other things that make this book GREAT! I for the life of me could not put it done and kept thinking about the scenes and the ending. I'm dying to read E...more
I received this book to give an honest review. I do wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because it was one of those books that I just happened to fall in love with. The main character Netty, I felt for her on so many levels. With the abuse that she succumbed from her husband to her becoming independent and running her farm along with starting a business though still a bit weary of her husband finding her. She finds a creature who she falls in love with, names him Baby, and in a way he...more

I was given this book in return for an honest review. It's 1929 and Netty is a young woman from a poor, but loving family. She marries Robert, who turns out to be a sadistic and abusive husband. Her mother murdered, she has no where to go. After years with Robert, Netty makes a discovery that changes everything and she runs back home to her dilapitated childhood cabin, taking one of Robert's beloved gold coins with her. Well… I didn’t like this book. I LOVED IT!! It’s just WOW!
It’s hard to believe that this is Accinnin’s first book. I found out that this is her first book now and I was like “What?!You gotta be kidding me!” When I was reading it, I felt like the author wrote many books before. It’s so well written that you can’t dislike it! I sincerely couldn’t put it down. Why? Because J.K.’s writing style it’s addicting! And I’m not kidding… at all! Though thi...more

Originally I planned on giving this a 4 star as the explanation of baby and the womb hurt my head. But Once I continued to read on I easily overlooked that as I watched the life of Netty and her brutal rapes and how she ran away from her abusive husband to start over with her rightful inheritance. But nothing is plain sailing in life and this book shows that. Her husband Robert wanted her inheritance.
Along the way Netty discovered a creature from Oolahan who was called Baby. The love for each ot...more

Today, I finished Baby by JK Accinni! First, I'd like to say that this book kept me sane throughout my move! It was a fantastic escape from that obnoxious "real life" bit!

Netty is a teenager fleeing from an abusive marriage. She returns to her childhood home, which stands in ruins. She discovers Baby, an alien creature, in a cave, barely hanging on to life. Baby and Netty heal each other and form a fascinating bond. Soon, they meet Wil, a man looking to start his own life. Together, the trio reb...more

How tragically ironic. Nettie Smith, a young farmer’s daughter with an abiding respect for all life, gets married to a brute of a man who shows his true colors only after the wedding. He imprisons her in the mansion, does not allow her to communicate with anyone, and physically abuses her. Finally, after several years, Nettie finally escapes back to her farm, only to find that all of her loved ones are dead and gone.

I absolutely loved this book!! It was original and inventive and beautifully written. The character of Netty is a woman of her time. She survives horrible injustices and still holds true her own ideals and all in the late 20's and early 30's of rural New Jersey. J.K. Accinni draws a beautiful portrait of the locale and the people who live there. This is a dark tale, of hate and betrayal, but with hope and love, but it steps outside the box, delivering a page turner and an ending you might not ex...more

The story told is a beautiful one, filled with love, faith and more. What more can someone ask for than a faithful pet so to speak and the ability to help others.

Netty finds all that and more when she escapes a horrible life and comes across Baby. Not knowing exactly what he is, she takes the chance and saves his life anyways, not realizing what is about to happen to her life.

she soon gets her wish of a happy life and more when things start to happen. Fruit grows, life becomes so much better and...more
Wow! What can I say, I couldn't put this book down.
It was completely different to anything I've ever read before.
I can't decide if "Baby" is paranormal or sci-fi, but it is one hell of a good read.
I am looking forward to reading book 2 "Echo"
This is an easy going story which anyone will enjoy :)

I am still blown away with this book.

Dang! Talk about a completely different book and storyline… I’m still dumb founded with “Baby”.

Author J.K. Accinni had delivered a mind blowing and provoking series like no other that I have read. At the same time there is a strong message to us as the reader.: DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE DONE UNTO YOU. Karma can be a b****, or it can be your friend on or in so many dimensions.

At first when I started reading “Baby” it seemed weird in a way, then I would...more
I am not necessarily a sci-fi girl, but decided to read this book to help the author. This book was given to me by J.K. Accinni is exchange for an honest review.

Baby: Species Intervention #6609 is probably not a book that I would have chosen to read on my own. I am a vampire/shifter/angel/paranormal/romance kind of girl and that is the type of book I would ordinarily choose. However, when the author was asking for reviewers, I responded. I decided that it would be a welcome(?) change-of-pace.

I don't read much Sci-Fi. This book called "Baby" was a very interesting read. The author of this book has a very unusual imagination. The character know as Baby reminds me of a little cute and loving Gremlin. The girl character, Netty, has had a hard life. She gets away not knowing what the future holds for her, has to be better then what she is running from. Everything doesn't go as planned. Her family farm is a mess. Her hopes for providing for herself doesn't look good. Netty wants to give u...more
