When I first received this book in the mail from being a first reads winner I was surprised right away by the front cover. The illustration of a young princess when her long curly hair and the deeply frustrated looked was enough for my daughter and me to want to dive right in and read.

The Stubborn Princess by J.B Stockings is a delightful story of a princess who refuses to have her striking long curly hair combed. As a result, it goes on to develop into a superb story of how her hair turns into

The title of this book suggests that the author wishes to teach a moral about the cost of stubbornness, but the premise of the story does little to aid her cause. Anyone with curly hair or hair that reaches their feet with sympathize with the princess, who presumably endures hours of combing and brushing just to keep herself looking presentable. Her desire to avoid unnecessary pain and waste less time on her appearance is completely understandable, and the royal Comb

The Stubborn Princess is a cute children’s story. It reminds me of those ‘I can read’ reading level books I used to read quite a lot when I was a kid. The book teaches an important lesson. Even though it’s not a bad thing to be stubborn some times, eventually you have to admit that others are right. The book also teaches that it’s important to know how to ask others for help. I thought it was cute how the book rhymed. When I was a child I used to love rhyming books. The illustrations were well d ...more

I received this via Goodreads NextReads.

This was such a charming little book! The story was cute about a princess who is sick of her tiresome (and painful) hair care routine and is swept away by some birds who had hatched in her hair. I thought the illustrations were nice. They were sort of a throwback to older illustrated fairytales with the colored pencil look and the soft lines. They worked well with the story. Plus, the Princess learns in the end that she just has to be patience and kind in

I really enjoyed the Stubborn Princess. It's a charming kid's book with beautiful illustrations. I read a lot of children's books because I work in early childcare. I can say with some assurance that this is just the kind of book young children can really get into. Its got plenty of fun words, it rhymes (which is always a plus for the age-group I work with because it helps them remember, repeat, and build vocabulary), and the illustrations are cute and interesting.
If you've got kids, or just lo

Totally related to this born. I was once a stubborn little girl with messy curly hair. I'm still a stubborn person but the hair has calmed down a bit. LOL Anyway I really enjoyed reading this book to my kids. It was just the right length to read before bed time. And it had a good lesson it in that maybe you should let things go a bit. I won this book through good reads and was very happy that I did.

Won on Goodreads.

Children, the audience for whom this book is intended, will love this book. Any child with long curly hair can sympathize with the princess hating to have her tangled combed out. The rhyming scheme will help them to follow the story and anticipate future events. The humorous pictures add the finishing touch to what is essentially a light and fun story.

I won this book in one of the Good reads giveaways. This book was so cute, wonderfully illustrated and actually made me giggle. A stubborn little princess refuses to have her curly locks attended to and learns a very valuable lesson. J.B. Stockings did an excellent job with the story. I can't wait to read it with my daughter.
