Lance Woods' debut novel is a fun adventure into a world where super-powered beings walk side-by-side with everyday normal folk. The romanticism of real-life superheroes has passed the 'wow-factor' stage, and we find people with special abilities just making an honest living in the average day-to-day.
The story is told from the first person perspective of Dunbar, a reporter for the Superhero Times newspaper on assignment to cover the opening of a spectacular new theme park that allows ordinary p...more

I really enjoyed this podiobook, and I have enjoyed the Heroic Times short stories I've heard in the past. Unfortunately, this one felt very much like a sequel, and I don't recall any of the stories with the same characters. I hope a 'prequel' will come out at some point in the future to fill in those blank spots and allusions.

Truth in advertising: I am the publisher. Of course I loved the book! Lance is a gifted playwright with an ear for dialogue, and a 1930s-screwball sense of comedy. Heroic Park is light and fun, suited to super hero fans, lovers of comedic mystery and lovers of amusement parks alike.

Born in 1961 and writing since 1967, Lance Woods’s first script was a one-page episode of the Batman TV series. The fine works of scriptwriting heroes as diverse as Neil Simon, William Goldman, James L. Brooks and Rod Serling corrupted him further. As a result, he has had two comedy-thrillers – Breeding Will Tell and Murder Case – produced by the Baltimore Playwrights Festival and serves as the cr...more
